POPSCooking With My Punk Ass Little Sister...
Then she left home and became a woman while I married a cattle rancher and said goodbye, essentially forever, to my beloved repertoire of gourmet cuisine. Betsy graduated from college, lived in various big cities, and now resides in Austin, Texas with her tech-nerd husband, Matt, where she spends her days cooking all the food snob dishes I so unselfishly taught her to make so many years ago. And she calls me as she’s eating them and makes me cry real tears. Then I go fry up another pork chop and get over myself. Come along with Betsy and me as we make one of our favorites: Penne a la Betsy, as I like to call it. It’s simple, flavorful, and whomever you make it for will pledge their eternal admiration and support for you. And they’ll kiss your big toe.The Cast of Characters: Shrimp, Penne (or other short pasta), butter, olive oil, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, heavy cream, parsley, basil, salt, and pepper. Brace yourselves, people. Your life’s about the change for the better. And y

POPSFood of the week: Olives Tips for Preparing Olives: To pit olives, press them with the flat side of a broad bladed knife. This will help break the flesh so that you can easily remove the pit with your fingers or the knife. The brine in which olives are packed can be used as a replacement for salted water in recipes. Toss pasta with chopped olives, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and fresh herbs of your choice. Marinate olives in olive oil, lemon zest, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.

POPSFood of the week: Tomatoes Tomatoes are a great addition to bean and vegetable soups. Enjoy a classic Italian salad-sliced onions, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese drizzled with olive oil. Combine chopped onions, tomatoes, and chili peppers for an easy to make salsa dip. Purée tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and scallions together in a food processor and season with herbs and spices of your choice to make the refreshing cold soup, gazpacho. Add tomato slices to sandwiches and salads. To keep things colorful, use yellow, green and purple tomatoes in addition to red ones. ~~~~ Most delicious are Jersey tomatoes that you pick from your garden, wash, and bite. so sweet.....

POPSAnother Potentially Religion Inspired Death Each time I come across a story like this it saddens me greatly. The victim here is a 13 year old child who happens to have the misfortune of being born into a family with limited reasoning power. I personally feel that if this child dies the parents should be held accountable.
