POPSIndicting the hacker who broke into Sarah Palin's private email - Harpers.org The DOJ has mounted an extraordinary case against the hacker who revealed Sarah Palin's apparent systematic violation of the Open Records Act (by using a private email address to conduct government business). Given that the DOJ normally doesn't care much about cyber-crime, one has to wonder how the decision to allocate those resources was made.

POPSHacking is Easy, Fun, But Unfortunately Still Wrong Now I don't like Palin but this doesn't mean that I agree with what this guy did. I would be pissed if someone hacked into my email. Poor guy it wasn't even worth it, he didn't even find anything incriminating....cool how he easy it was though....but yes still wrong.

POPSBill Clinton's Complimentary Remarks On Sarah and Todd Clinton concluded his statement on Palin by asking why "say anything bad about a person" and why couldn't everyone just "be happy for her elevation to the ticket," even though they disagree with her. This is a surprisingly gracious statement from Clinton on Palin, and he is absolutely correct. Politics shouldn't be about talking repeating vicious rumors concerning someone's family members and hacking into their email accounts to look for dirt on them. Perhaps both parties need to listen to what Clinton is saying; however, the left bears the brunt of responsibility for the smear campaigns against Palin since her name was announced as the candidate.

POPSCyber Crime Hall of Fame I found this interesting, one of the hackers was just 15 years old. The amount of damages , prison time, plus the FBI using the hacker for their own purposes. Issac Says: you forgot "dvd jon" the greatest hacker of all time...look him up on wikipedia...he reverse engineered the DRM on DVD'S when he was 15, at that time it was thought impossible by the government.

POPSHow I Stole Someone's Identity Setup: This is the case of one subject whom I'll call "Kim." She's a friend of my wife, so just from previous conversations I already knew her name, what state she was from, where she worked, and about how old she was. But that's about all I knew. She then told me which bank she used (although there are some pretty easy ways to find that out) and what her user name was. (It turns out it was fairly predictable: her first initial + last name.) Based on this information, my task was to gain access to her account.

POPSWEP/WPA Cracking with WZCook Disclaimers aside, I bookmark utilities like this one for a number of reasons, one being my inability recall where it was that I wrote down my WEP key. (I've long since given up on actually remember the passphrase itself!) A more recent application occurred during a hotel stay during which the hotel locked down it's internet access using a passphrase due to a "malicious user", and I needed access before the phrase was distributed to the front desk IT person. As you can see, there are a fair number of legitimate uses out there, and this little app takes up very little hard drive real estate. I actually have a USB drive with "travel"-related software utilities such as this, which has saved my quite a few times.

POPSThe Pirate Bay to sue anti-piracy agencies? The Pirate Bay showed that emails leaked from media defenders servers clearly showed that the company had launched illegal denial of service attack on the pirate bay’s servers, engaged in illegal hacking and repeatedly flooded them with spam. Funny ???
