POPSWhy is the "cure" nearly always worse than the cause? I become more concerned with modern medicine in the form of pharmaceuticals daily. They are making rash, profit motivated, decisions and the government falls in line as the tax revenue and lobby gifts/graft is running free. Get healthy, get some sun, eat fresh, local produce and quit feeding the mega-national beasts.

POPSA New Strain of Flu Many Times More Lethal Than H1N1? It is typically behaving like a hemorrhagic fever in the lungs turning them into ‘mush’ and killing the patient. Some reports from the Ukraine are indicating that figures may will be over 1000 deaths, but the numbers are not being released by the government until confirmations are made. Moreover, the virus could have the potential to recombine with those being vaccinated to create a plague that could potentially kill more than 1 million people globally per month. Clinics were forced to shut down due to lack of supplies, and people who really should have gotten the vaccine first (like young children, pregnant mothers and seniors) lost out. H1N1 Influenza is a mere fraction of the virility of normal seasonal 'flu, and has fewer serious cases and deaths than seasonal 'flu. The normal, sensible steps you take to avoid getting the 'flu every year will work as well for H1N1. Yes, it looks serious when the media focuses on individual deaths from H1N1, but such coverage is deceptive. A few hundred deaths, Canada-side from H1N1 is tragic, but seasonal 'flu will claim several thousand, as it does every year. Just keep some perspective. Be aware; be mindful, but don't be scared. Think sensibly.

While H1N1 still causes severe reactions and death in significantly fewer cases than seasonal influenza, it can still kill, like any case of influenza. There's no good reason to refuse the vaccine (just paranoia and hype), and plenty of good reasons to get it. If a family's perfectly healthy, 13-year-old can go from mild symptoms to dead within 48hs, it can happen to anyone. Don't be scared; don't panic, but take reasonable precautions. That includes getting the vaccine as soon as it's available. Don't let the conspiracy theorists scare you away!

So far, it has been reported that 1,000 deaths in the U.S. have resulted from H1N1/Swine Flu. Guess what? As mentioned, CBS News just published a story over the weekend that proves we're right to be skeptical about this whole thing. Go back and read that CBS News article I referenced. Here's an excerpt: A three-month-long investigation by CBS News, released earlier this week that included state-by-state test results, revealed some very different facts. The CBS study found that H1N1 flu cases are NOT as prevalent as feared. Obviously, CBS News and the CDC are completely contradicting each other. So who is right? Well, CBS reports that in late July 2009 the CDC advised states to STOP testing for H1N1 flu, and they also stopped counting individual cases. Their rationale for this, according to CBS News, was that it was a waste of resources to test for H1N1 flu because it was already confirmed as an epidemic.
