POPSThe Church Bearing Arms????? I think the pastor of this church is going about trying to make his point the wrong way. When Jesus went to the temple to teach, and found the money changers, and people buying and selling, he turned their tables over and ran them off. what do you think he would do if he walked into this church?

POPSMore than 800 gun buyers on terrorist watch list
The futility of ‘government control’ The terrorist watch list is becoming a joke. There are children, a retired ANG General (and commercial pilot) on the list: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/19/tsa.watch.list/index.html The sheer size of the list makes it a joke: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-03-10-watchlist_N.htm can there really be this many terrorists living in the US? This list has become a witch hunt reminiscent of the McCarthy era. Terrorists are the new Red Scare. If someone on the terrorist watch list is allowed to buy a gun and then kills people with it shouldn’t the US government be held responsible much like a bartender serving a drink to a drunk who then gets in his car a kills someone? They claim they want to protect us and then don’t communicate between departments. Seems pretty futile to me. This is a means for the FBI to get that database of everyone in the US it has wants so badly. http://www.contumacy.org/bbs/index.pl?noframes;read=7839

POPSJose, Maximo Colon Turn Tables On NYPD With Videotape On May 13, another NYPD officer was arrested for plotting to invade a Manhattan apartment where he hoped to steal $900,000 in drug money. In another pending case, prosecutors in Brooklyn say officers were caught in a 2007 sting using seized drugs to reward a snitch for information. And in the Bronx, prosecutors have charged a detective with lying about a drug bust captured on a surveillance tape that contradicts her story. Elsewhere, Philadelphia prosecutors dismissed more than a dozen drug and gun charges against a man last month when a narcotics officer was accused of making up information on search warrants.

POPSPublic Complaints Against RCMP Up 35%; Taser Use High On List
Following the public uproar over the use of Tasers which sometimes resulted to death of its victims like Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, the commission observed a drop by almost 50 percent in use of Tasers. While there has been media attention over the use of Tasers, what actually topped the list of complaints against Mounties was attitude, which accounted for 20.6 percent. "This category of complaint can include dismissive, rude, non-responsive, or biased behavior on the part of the member as well as behavior that is seen to be unfair or lacking empathy," the report said. The report, made public by Commission chair Paul Kennedy, recommended to the Minister of Public Safety six measures to improve the RCMP's overall complaint systems. The recommendations include the establishment of best practices, the implementation of efficient mean of tracking public complaints on a national level and to have standardized training for RCMP members involved in handling public complaints and

POPSPolice brutality & Videogames: A.P.B. A.P.B. stands for "All Points Bulletin". I hear there's a new hack available that if you hit the right combination of buttons and joystick moves, the choking moves to waterboarding during the confess-o-meter segment.. The suspect then confesses to all the other 9 A.P.B's crimes, including ones committed while they were in custody. *HANDSMACK* Bad monkey! ;-)

POPSWisconsin Lawmakers Consider Lowering Hunting Age to 10 The way the law stands, the 10 year old is just with a parent or guardian, who is the one hunting. And once in a while, this youngster would be allowed to hold the firearm and aim and shoot it at the parents/ guardians discretion. I used to hunt with my father in situations similar to this and it never occurred to me to mishandle a firearm. His gun was always in the closet and I never touched it without his permission. Several reason I obeyed--he was my father and the gun wasn't mine to handle. Period.

POPSTexas cop uses Taser on 72-year-old great grandmother
Ooh, her use of profanity made him fear for his safety. What is this guy a freaking nancy-boy? I’ll bet he let a lot of drivers go by and chose her because she looked ‘safe’. Part of the responsibility for so many people basically blatantly ignoring speed limit signs falls on the cops themselves. They randomly enforce speed limits. I have witnessed speeders driving past police officers who do nothing. I have witnessed police officers driving over the speed limit and I can truthfully say there was no apparent reason for them to do so, because further down the road I would again see them driving along with the crowd. The lackadaisical enforcement gives drivers a false sense that they will not be ticketed and then along comes an officer who may have been bored or pushed by his municipality to raise money. They need to be serious about enforcement or continue to allow drivers to do whatever they please, just as they have for quite some time now.

POPSNRA’s Opponents ‘Accidently’ Vote With Them This is our representation in Congress, folks. Scared yet? This kind of embarrassment needs to be addressed. It is inexcusable. They don’t read them. They don’t know what they are voting for. They vote for things they are against…is this the best we can get? They care more about their cushy positions and paychecks than what they are tasked to do. We need to keep track of these names so we don’t ‘accidentally’ re-elect them.

POPSMake My Day Law - Stand Your Ground Law Robber was already shot in the head; seems the pharmacist merely finished the job....How many times do we see police gunshot suspects being hit or having more than a dozen bullets fired at them? I suspect a jury trial won't win this prosecutor any points. However, at least the accomplices have been charged and will probably be convicted of more serious charges.

POPSThe NRA thrives on paranoia, and the rest of us will pay But the NRA is an organization built on fear, and they use that fear to pump up those shreds into nuclear threats. Watch the interview with NRA spokeswoman Rachel Parsons above, talking about how a proposal to close the gun-show loophole -- which permits hundreds, if not thousands, of transactions to occur that would be illegal in a gun shop, and lets people who are forbidden to buy guns to do so, since no background check is required. Parsons is trying to tell us that this somehow affects people's Second Amendment rights -- even though the only actual effect of this legislation she can claim is that the people who put on these gun shows couldn't afford to do so anymore, because they wouldn't be making as large of sums from them as what they're accustomed to. Of course, this has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

POPSScouts Train to Fight Terrorists, and More
“This is about being a true-blooded American guy and girl.” This statement is reminiscent of how the Hitler Youth was bolstered into being “true-blooded Germans”. The inference is that if you are not a part of this “elite” group and are not concerned with killing what the police label as ‘terrorists’ or ‘illegal immigrants’ then you are NOT a ‘true-blooded American’. In light of the fact that DHS recently released two letters designed to put the law enforcement community on alert to 1) returning military vets as potential threats and 2) profiling millions of Americans who oppose abortion, illegal immigration, gun control, homosexuality, and expanded govt powers, as associated with neo-Nazis, skinheads and other violent and racist ‘hate groups’, this is scary stuff people. It appears DHS has an agenda to define ‘true-blooded Americans’ as anyone who is in complete lock-step with their policies. Using Explorer Scouts as a recruitment source is a heinous and despicable act.

POPSCop kicks suspect in the head AFTER HE SURRENDERS In most American jurisdictions, kicking someone to the head is on the order of assault with a deadly weapon. Because a shoe-covered foot can crack a human skull easier than most people think. The guy had surrendered and was lying face-down, spread-eagled. And the officer runs up and kicks him in the head. Cenk questions as to whether or not the punishment should be as severe as losing his job. Looked to me like ADW. Lose his job? That cop belongs behind bars. Whatever that guy did before we saw him swerving his car and running from the cops did, and I'm including violent crimes with this... Whatever that guy did, as a cop you just CAN NOT run up on a guy and boot him to the head after he's surrendered like that, not when you've got a gun drawn on him.

POPSWay To Go Montana ! The state of Montana has signed into power a revolutionary gun law. I mean REVOLUTIONARY . Important Points - If guns and ammunition are manufactured inside the State of Montana for sale and use inside that state then the federal firearms laws have no applicability since the federal government only has the power to control commerce across state lines. Montana has the law on their side. Since when did the USA start following their own laws especially the constitution of the USA , the very document that empowers the USA . POPSNew York's Operation SNUG But other than that, it's basic common sense. "Commitment to SNUG" will "put a stop to that deadly trend"? Really? How? I mean aside from coming up with an insipid, meaningless acronym? This initiative developed is modeled after the highly successful Cease Fire Gun Violence Prevention Model currently used in Chicago. Chicago? That wouldn't be "gun-free" murder capital Chicago, would it? I guess New Yorkers are about to find out what Malcolm Smith and Kathleen Tice mean by "highly successful."

POPSFrom the 'Court Jesters' File: "Begging The Question" Stevens & Breyer The court today nevertheless holds that petitioner is subject to a mandatory additional sentence -- a species of criminal liability -- for an accident that caused no harm." Call us crazy for pointing it out, but these are two of the justices who dissented from last year's Heller ruling, which affirmed the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. In other words, they are in the unusual position of defending a criminal who accidentally fired a weapon during a crime while maintaining that law-abiding citizens have no right to own a firearm.

POPSGun Control w/out Gun Laws: Govt Procurement MOTE: Nongun manufacturers across the nation routinely control how their product is distributed and impose contractual obligations on wholesalers and retailers. Gun companies should have to use a similar approach. They should sell their product through only authorized dealers. And the authorized dealers should have to keep track of how many times they got "trace" inquiries from law enforcement—that is, how many guns they sold were later used by criminals. Dealers that sold a disproportionate number of "crime guns" would have to fix the problem, something that might be as easy as retraining staff to react to "straw" purchasers who were trying to evade existing laws. Data showing that a high percentage of guns used in crime come from a small subset of dealers suggest that closing these few retailers could have a dramatic impact on access to illegal guns.

POPS The "Dirty Harry" Theory of Governance -- Do You Feel Lucky?
When America's Founders revolted against "taxation without representation," this is precisely the kind of kingly diktat they had in mind. As Peter Glaser, an environmental lawyer at Troutman Sanders, told Congress in 2008, "The country will experience years, if not decades, of regulatory agony, as EPA will be required to undertake numerous, controversial, time-consuming, expensive and difficult regulatory proceedings, all of which ultimately will be litigated." Greenhouse gases mix in the atmosphere, and it doesn't matter where they come from. A ton of emissions from Ohio has the same effect on global CO2 as a ton emitted in China; and even if Ohio figured out a way to reduce its emissions to zero, it would still have no control over the carbon content in its ambient air. But under the law, EPA would be required to severely punish Ohio -- and every state -- for not complying with NAAQS. The EPA took the highly unusual step of not accompanying its endangerment finding with

POPS Seeds Of Discontent a document that painted those who disagree with the left-wing bent of the current federal government as "right wing extremists." This overly-broad threat assessment painted a significant number of Americans as potential domestic terrorists for sharing one or more mainstream conservative values. The story broke just one day before hundreds of grass-roots protests involving more than a quarter-million Americans took place against excessive government spending in what were promoted as non-partisan TEA (Taxed Enough Already) parties. This report was sent to police agencies nationwide, much to the disgust of the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), and over the objections of the DHS Civil Rights officials as well. It is perfectly normal for a political party out of power to feel disenfranchised, and the wailing drama of the minority can indeed be both obscene and absurd as we've noted abundantly during recent years.
