POPSBest Buy Says "Happy Eid" - Christian Conservatives Miffed 'Tis the season for bitching about nothing ... In another publication, Hawks said that, in addition to Eid wishes, “you will see greetings of Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa and Feliz Navidad in various Best Buy communications during the holiday season.” That might rile conservatives, too. Already, the American Family Association has lashed out at the Gap for giving equal billing to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Solstice in a new TV commercial — although that group’s main concern is the inclusion of Solstice. Imad Hamad, the regional Midwest director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, sees the greeting as a “welcome gesture from Best Buy,” adding that many of the complaints against it illustrate the kind of “anti-Islamic virus we’ve been hearing and dealing with.”

POPSOBama shook hands with gatecrashers! I think this is hilarious because it shows how close one can get to the president of the United States uninvited! They really should make it harder to get into the white house!

POPSWelcome Home! What a nice idea. I'm going to try this. It is hard when you have little kids, because dinner time is always crazy time, but maybe if I get it done a little earlier...

POPSbow-wow, now roll over and beg I agree with Scott Johnson, Steve Gilbert, Andrew Malcom, and many others that the President of the United States should not be bowing before any head of state. But unlike these astute observers, I actually know a little something about the art of the bow in Japan, having lived in Japan four different times on a resident visa, taught East Asian Studies at Harvard, and counseled many hundreds of American, European, Middle Eastern, and Australian executives on how to work and negotiate with the Japanese -- including teaching them the right way to bow. POPSDear soldiers: Please come home safely - your puppies miss you As do many others. The dogs in the "I've never heard anything make a sound like this" clip are beagles, which explains the noise – that's the famed "bugling" they do. And the dog almost hurdling its owner is an Italian Greyhound: half spring, half rubber, half Mexican jumping bean.

POPSWhy inclusionary language matters More: You can believe with all your heart that sexism is terrible and evil, but when you call a woman a bitch, it kind of undermines your point. You can think that people with disabilities are oppressed and marginalized by society, and that this is wrong, but when you call something “lame,” you’re saying that you think it’s ok to continue oppressing people with disabilities. When you say that someone should “step up,” you are unconsciously erasing everyone in the population who cannot step, like wheelchair users and people who are bedbound. When you refer to someone or something as “insane” or “crazy,” you are using mental illness as a slur. So stop it. Stop using exclusionary language. Start including people. And stop trying to defend it. If you’re too lazy to find a better word or phrase to use, that’s your problem, not society’s.
