POPSUS Town Utilizes Local Currency Let’s say you spend a dollar with Chatham Wireless. That’s a local Internet service provider. They will use part of that dollar to pay their folks. They live here. Part of it may go to their bookkeeper. Part might go to an advertisement in our local media. They might use their money to get a massage, lunch at Angelina’s Kitchen, or dinner at the General Store Cafe. Part of that dollar might go to buy groceries at Chatham Marketplace which will then buy produce from the local farmer, who will then go buy some Internet access from Chatham Wireless. The longer that dollar stays in our community, the more enriched we become.

POPSObama's health insurance is deadly fiasco I don't usually comment on US health care, BUT to be *forced* to pay private profit-making company for inadequate health coverage, with premiums increasing as I age, would make me very riled. And the policy won't do any good for the image of Obama, the Federales, or the health insurance industry. Where is Ralph Nader and a third Party when you need them? Couldn't he get together with Ron Paul -- the ultimate coalition. Howard Dean seems to understand what's going on, but he's an MD. If I were an American, then I would want to try something different. Anything! Why aren't people organising?

POPSWhy not give if you can I work at the hospital as a blood transfusion technician and every day I see people whose lives depend on our awareness, humanity and generosity. Not all of us can make this gift to others due to various health reasons but we can remind our friends that perhaps they could help. Here are some interesting facts: -1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives -Every 2 seconds someone needs a blood transfusion -5 million patients in he US need blood every year -Less than 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood -Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from volunteer donors -30 million blood components are transfused each year -Platelets, critical for cancer patients, have a shelf life of only 5 days -Adults have 10-12 pints of blood in their body - 1 pints is given during a donation -Donors can give blood every 56 days. Platelet donors can give every 3 days

..... and the parties who are going to be assaulted first are the elderly who will be denied care in nursing homes, hospices and doctors visits and told to just go climb on an ice sheet and float to their death for the good of the village as the Inuit's did long ago. That is what awaits Americans as every American is going to need care sooner or later, and for those who think that the rich will get care, the patricians had better learn a lesson of fact, that when the system breaks down, as government is bankrupt, then places like the Mayo Clinic are not developing advanced treatments for the rich, and the rich people find out in 5 years that they too are being left to die. Americans will now be made criminals in not paying into this butcher system and this blogger will refuse to be a part of any system as this. Oddly if Keith Olbermann holds his moral ground, we will be in an Obama concentration camp charged with the same crimes of failure to hand over our money to a

POPSHoliday Protesters Leave Scrooge McCaskill Lumps of Coal For Her Obamacare Vote (Video) Protesters Gather for a Second Time Outside Claire McCaskill’s Office 2009 December 23 by DanaLoesch Protesters leave coal for McCaskill. A hundred or so protesters gathered outside of Sen. Claire McCaskill’s University City office during their lunch hours for the second time in two weeks to protest McCaskill’s continual lack of representation. The overwhelming majority of Missouri (and national) voters oppose Harry Reid’s senate fauxcare bill, yet McCaskill is eager to play the part of the rubber stamp and help pass it in the senate " and even complains about having to do so on Christmas. POPSSebelius Praises Abortion Accounting Trick in Senate Bill SEBELIUS : And I would say that the Senate language, which was negotiated by Senators Barbara Boxer and Patty Murray, who are very strong defenders of women’s health services and choices for women, take a big step forward from where the House left it with the Stupak amendment, and I think do a good job making sure there are choices for women, making sure there are going to be some plan options, and making sure that while public funds aren’t used, we are not isolating, discriminating against, or invading the privacy rights of women. That would be an accounting procedure, but everybody in the exchange would do the same thing, whether you’re male or female, whether you’re 75 or 25, you would all set aside a portion of your premium that would go into a fund, and it would not be earmarked for anything, it would be a separate account that everyone in the exchange would pay.

POPSNebraska Rally opposing Senate Healthcare Bill and Reid's Pay-Off To Ben Nelson and put the rest of America on the hook to fund Nebraska’s Medicaid expenses in perpetuity. In this case, Senator Nelson “reserved the right” to vote against the final version of the bill should the agreement he reached with Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Chuck Schumer change in a “material way”. In other words, Senator Nelson can claim he “I voted for it, before I voted against it”. I do NOT think Nebraskans will be as easily fooled as Senator Nelson hopes. 67% OPPOSE the Health Care Bill. A vote “YES” for cloture (to move the bill forward) is a “YES” vote for government run health care. POPSPass The Bill "First, it would prohibit discrimination by insurance companies on the basis of medical condition or history: Americans could no longer be denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, or have their insurance canceled when they get sick. Second, the bill would provide substantial financial aid to those who don’t get insurance through their employers, as well as tax breaks for small employers that do provide insurance. That’s an immense change from where we were just a few years ago: remember, not long ago the Bush administration and its allies in Congress successfully blocked even a modest expansion of health care for children. Look, I understand the anger here: supporting this weakened bill feels like giving in to blackmail — because it is. The question, then, is whether to pay the ransom by giving in to the demands of those senators, accepting a flawed bill, or hang tough and let the hostage — that is, health reform — die."

POPSThe NEXT BIG THING for 2010
· Neo-Survivalism: A new breed of survivalist is devising ingenious stratagems to beat the crumbling system. And, they’re not all heading for the hills with AK-47’s and pork & beans. · Not Welcome Here: Fueled by fear and resentment, a global anti-immigration trend will gather force and serve as a major plank in building a new political party in the US. · TB or Not TB: With two-thirds of Americans Too Big (TB) for their own good (and everyone else’s), 2010 will mark the outbreak of a “War on Fat,” providing a ton of business opportunities. · Mothers of Invention: Taking off with the speed of the Internet revolution, “Technology for the Poor” will be a major trend in 2010, providing products and services for newly downscaled Western consumers and impoverished consumers everywhere. · Not Made In China: A “Buy Local,” “My Country First” protectionist backlash will deliver a big “No” to unrestrained globalism and open solid niches for local and domestic manufacturers. · The

POPSMorning Must Reads -- Chinese Won't Bow to Obama
that Democrats haven’t reached a deal. The Senate is moving on to a year-end defense appropriations bill until Saturday as Majority Leader Harry Reid tries to whip his caucus into shape. We don’t know who is objecting behind closed doors, but Nebraska’s Ben Nelson, who opposes abortion and some tax increases, is the most public of the skeptics right now. Reid is trying to spur action by imposing a hideous, around-the-clock schedule on the Senate through Christmas, but few believe right now that Reid can make his year-end deadline. “With Mr. Nelson's vote in doubt, President Barack Obama met with Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe, the lone Republican to show interest in supporting the package, to see if she would back the bill. Sen. Snowe is an abortion-rights supporter. ‘He'd prefer to get this moving,’ Sen. Snowe said. She added that she urged the president to postpone action and use ‘part of January’ to deal with her concerns, which include a proposal to establish a new long-term

POPSEt Tu, Ivan? (just dropped a bomb on Copenhagen) Ivan drops a bomb on Copenhagen. Unfortunately, it’s the kind of neutron bomb that is likely to leave the warmalist infrastructure standing. And thanks to robust tinfoil helmetry, even the soft targets are likely to survive the hit. Selective, distortional warmalist data culling is not a new claim. The hated skeptics have been saying this for some time. In this case, just one cautionary note … beware of Russkies bearing gifts. The last thing Ivan wants is for Europe to become less reliant on Ivan, and there is nothing Ivan likes more than confusion and consternation in the enemy camp. All of which is actually a good argument for the reasonable, rational and measured pursuit of conservation measures. Financial and national security bottom line, clean environment, all that. Not to be confused with economically ruinous policies in furtherance of highly controversial, unproven and apparently rigged theories.

POPSA missile defense system might be nice now... I wish I could stop reading about this kinda' stuff. Every day it's something worse. At every turn Obama undermines the security of us and our allies....and those in Congress seem so fixated on passing a sinking Health Care Bill to realize that it's NOT our first priority. Those who do not see the horrific danger that a nuclear Iran poses have their heads in the sand.

POPS Code Red In Washington D.C. Today; “This bill must be stopped!”
Also: The Dems now expect the CBO scoring of the Reid plan that no one has seen to look good once the Medicare expansion is thrown under the bus. And: After all the sound and fury, Joe Lieberman is now reportedly on board with Demcare. Update: Heeeeere come’s MoveOn! Steamed at the Democrat majority over negotiating with Joe Lieberman, the nutroots will hold their own “emergency rally” today at 1pm Eastern today to lobby for nationalized health care. Wonder if unhinged Jane Hamsher will show up to burn Sen. Lieberman’s wife in effigy. Update 11:49am Eastern: Lieberman talking to press right now. Says Demcare plan is now “heading in the right direction.” GOP Sen. Susan Collins is standing by him, smiling, through his remarks. Ok, Susan Collins speaks. She can’t see voting for the bill in its current form. “It’s still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” She says she won’t support it even with amendments intended to improve the bill (that no one has seen, of course).

POPSA little egotistical Barack, I would give you a good solid F. Passing the Health Care Bill will only make that grade worse.

POPS0bama's Strategy Written in Federal Penitentiary by Robert Creamer This is about money and this is about power. If the health insurance industry in America is forced to collapse (the way advocates of the President’s scheme have publicly said they hope will happen) then organized labor, specifically the SEIU, will be the largest beneficiary of such a collapse. And people like Creamer, who counts amongst his largest clients ALL of these organizations, will also benefit. (Here is a little secret of capitalism: If your clients get a huge windfall and it is directly attributed to your efforts, it will be very, very good for you.) These two passages from Creamer’s battle plan to manufacture a crisis, foment outrage and revulsion at those opposed to the progressives’ solution to that crisis and then the mobilization of organized labor to bully those opposed to that solution are the essence of the political atmosphere we are living in at this very moment.
