"A Boy and His Frog" - a tribute to Jim Henson
Lexica
by Lexica  8-9-2009
More: No one can make me what you did, No one could walk in your shoes, Nothing can make me forget you, But that's not a thing that I'd choose. I can't just let it be over, And you wouldn't want it that way, So I'll stand up and I'll face it, And, though not quite in your voice, I'll say: I will go on without you there to guide me, There's so much more I can give. Whenever I sing, you will be there beside me, As long as I keep you, you'll live. We just wanted to make people smile, I was always much more than your toy. I will never regret and I'll never forget What we had, I'll miss you, Dad, This frog and his boy.

Gonzo Gastronomy: How the Food Industry Has Made Bacon a Weapon of Mass Destruction
brightlight4

Rolling Stone paints a grim picture of what goes on inside a hog CAFO: "Sows are artificially inseminated and fed and delivered of their piglets in cages so small they cannot turn around. Forty fully grown 250-pound male hogs often occupy a pen the size of a tiny apartment. They trample each other to death. There is no sunlight, straw, fresh air or earth. The floors are slatted to allow excrement to fall into a catchment pit under the pens, but many things besides excrement can wind up in the pits: afterbirths, piglets accidentally crushed by their mothers, old batteries, broken bottles of insecticide, antibiotic syringes, stillborn pigs …" Manufacturing Pandemics Factory farms are a hot spot for new infectious diseases. According to a former chief of the Centers for Disease Control's Special Pathogens Branch, "Intensive agricultural methods often mean that a single, genetically homogeneous species is raised in a limited area, creating a perfect target for emerging diseases, whic

Senate Lawbreakers to MoveOn.org - no more free speech for you
kcarr33
by kcarr33  9-20-2007    2
THEY are outraged? And at whom are these "lawbreakers" outraged? They are beside themselves because the American people have the nerve, the gall, to think that the First Amendment applies to them! How dare the Great Unwashed say something, anything with which they do not agree! They were so outraged that nothing would do but to put MoveOn's rights to a vote to "rebuke" them, as though they were misbehaving children. At one time they were pretend-outraged that Gonzo lied to their faces, but oh well. No harm done. It's not like we really need the right of habeas corpus, and besides, Gonzo is "one of us." What has become of this country? Why do we elect these people for life? The day is not long coming when the DC elites will experience what the CIA has long called "blowback." Outraged, my a**. They haven't seen outrage yet.

Gonzo Gone
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  8-27-2007
From the article: "If Americans didn't have the attention span of a newt, if the media cared as much about the health of democracy as the health of the bottom line, if Democrats had the courage of their convictions, the last chapter of the Alberto Gonzales story will not have been written the day he resigned. If, if, if... I know: If Gonzales had had integrity, he wouldn't have been an invertebrate."

George Bush Doesn't Know Why People Don't Like Him
zasel
by zasel  7-4-2007    19
George Bush has been asking around the white house about why people seem to dislike America, or is it just him they dislike. My guess is that the world will once again warm up to America and appreciate us for the great country we are, once the Bush boy is gonzo. I just wish he were heading to the Hague where he could be tired, along with Cheney and Rumsfeld for war crimes.

Gonzo Apparently Tied His Office to That of the V.P.
zasel
by zasel  7-26-2007
Every time Alberto Gonzales opens his mouth he sticks another foot into it. At this point he is in the position of having to borrow feet to fill the gaps in his stories. But tying the department of justice to the office of the vice president is ample proof that there is too much political influence from the white house governing the operations of the and decisions made by the attorney general's office.
