OVER POPULATION. Can We Continue to Ignore It?
jerry23w
by jerry23w  2-2-2009    1
It is the achilles heel of democracy~ no one is likely to vote for a politician that might tell you how many children you can have, but if there are no leaders to tackle the problem then would we rather rely on natural causes to regulate the human population? Like so many things, the longer it is ignored the harder its going to be to deal with. I believe the problems of resource abuse and population could both be addressed by a willingness to realise when we have enough~ enough clothes, or enough cars, enough houses, or enough children. And then stop acquiring more. Some believe that if contraception was available to every woman, that alone would prevent the population from increasing, as the indigenous populations of developed countries are often found to be in decline. But that still requires the ability to say 'Enough' ~ is enough....

Most of our health costs stem from eating red meat. Most of our food costs stem from feeding cattle. Doesn’t it make economic as well as heatlh sense to cut down on our red meat consumption? NUKE GAZA: A WORLD GONE MAD
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  11-2-2009    1
"Not since 1948 has this enclave of extremists mounted such a public relations offensive. Christian Zionist President Harry Truman trusted Jewish Zionist lobbyists when he solicited assurances that they would not become what they immediately became: a racist theocratic state with an expansionist agenda destined to create serial crises in the region. The merciless global agenda pursued by Colonial Zionists is the single greatest threat to world peace, as confirmed yet again by Lieberman’s warning. As the primary remaining ally of these Jewish nationalists, the risks to the U.S. increase with each passing day as Tel Aviv works behind the scenes to catalyze yet another conflict. This entangled alliance was destined to provoke resentments that would eventually endanger their super power ally and foremost arms provider. "

Is There Global Warming on Other Planets in the Solar System?
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-19-2009    4
Martian climate is primarily driven by dust and albedo and there is little empirical evidence that Mars is showing long term warming. Neptune's orbit is 164 years so current brightening is a seasonal response (Neptune's southern hemisphere is heading into summer). Triton's warming is due to the moon approaching an extreme southern summer, a season that occurs every few hundred years. Jupiter's storms are fueled by the planet's own internal heat (the sun's energy is 4% the level of solar energy at Earth). When several storms merge into one large storm (eg - Red Spot Jr), the planet loses its ability to mix heat, causing warming at the equator and cooling at the poles.

TV Series "V" -- Allegory or Propaganda?
blueridge
by blueridge  11-4-2009    9
Tyranny comes with a smiling face and a promise of "hope" and "change". It means to "help" but it intends to dominate. Don't miss this "negative light" clip -- so well portrayed how the media is subdued. Of course the crafty deceiver is played so perfectly and politically-correct, by a woman. It does seem to have an apt moral to the story, a warning of universal global domination under the pretense of kindness, hope, love with a lot of change--an potent warning against Global Governance that we are moving toward. Be sure, however, that it is propaganda of some kind that only Hollywood would front, and Hollywood is not to be trusted either. After all, Star Trek's "Federation" represents precisely the same thing of utopian world or universal governance, or World Federal Union , versus the "Cling-Ons" that resist it which are painted as evil.

global temperature variations are dictated by ENSO
amgumen
by amgumen  10-30-2009    1
Observations indicate that global temperature rise has slowed in the last decade. The least squares trend for January 1999 to December 2008 calculated from the HadCRUT3 dataset (Brohan et al. 2006) is +0.07±0.07°C decade–1—much less than the 0.18°C decade–1 recorded between 1979 and 2005. El Niño–Southern Oscillation is a strong driver of interannual global mean temperature variations. ENSO and non-ENSO ontributions can be separated by the method of Thompson et al. The trend in the ENSO-related component for 1999–2008 is +0.08±0.07°C decade–1, fully accounting for the overall observed trend. The trend after removing ENSO (the "ENSO-adjusted" trend) is 0.00°±0.05°C decade–1, implying much greater disagreement with anticipated global temperature rise.

US Planning to Weaken Copenhagen Climate Deal
sahara
by sahara  11-1-2009
The move reflects a "prehistoric" level of debate on climate change in the wider US, according to another high-ranking European official, and anxiety in the Obama administration about its ability to get a new global treaty ratified in the US Senate, where it would require a two-thirds majority vote. The US has not ratified a major international environment treaty since 1992 and President Clinton never submitted the Kyoto protocol for approval, after a unaminous Senate vote indicated it would be rejected on economic grounds. Stuart Eizenstat, who negotiated Kyoto for the US, said: "There has been a sea change in US attitudes and the new president is deeply committed on this issue. But the EU needs to understand the limitations in the US. The reality is that is it impossible for my successor to negotiate something in Copenhagen beyond that which Congress will give the administration in domestic cap-and-trade legislation."

6 Signs That the American Empire Is Coming to an Early End

Funny, I've been saying this (out loud) for years. More of an interesting article: "No one seems to be saying this out loud -- yet -- but let's put it bluntly: less than a year into the 15-year span of Global Trends 2025, the days of America's unquestioned global dominance have come to an end. It may take a decade or two (or three) before historians will be able to look back and say with assurance, "That was the moment when the United States ceased to be the planet's preeminent power and was forced to behave like another major player in a world of many competing great powers." The indications of this great transition, however, are there for those who care to look."

WARNING! Goodbye Sovereignty... Hello One World Government! - The Copenhagen Treaty December 09
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  10-30-2009    6
Enjoy your freedom WHILE it lasts! You got a little over a month and counting down. The Treaty on Climate change will effectively end the sovereignty of nations, no liberty, no democracy, no vote. This is it, heads up! Global government by December 09? Will you stand by and let freedom, justice and sovereignty be signed away for profit and control. If you haven't made provisions for you and you family now would be (a little late perhaps) good time to do so, anything could happen, what with the swine flu, the redistribution of the wealth of the rich nations to the poor, the carbon tax etc. Given the current political & economic climate it would be foolish not have some sort of preparedness plan in case TSHTF.

Britain's Lord Monckton Warns About Dangers of Climate Change Treaty - Video 10/30/09
merrie
by merrie  10-31-2009    2
Bolton thinks the treaty is dangerous, but is not prepared to go as far as Monckton yet. But he said it does have the potential to do great damage. Even if Obama signs it, it would require a two-thirds vote of the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty and make us bound to the terms. Fascinating discussion. The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam By John Coleman January 28, 2009 (Revised and edited February 11, 2009) Back in the 1960s, this global warming research came to the attention of a Canadian born United Nation's bureaucrat named Maurice Strong. He was looking for issues he could use to fulfill his dream of one-world government. Strong organized a World Earth Day event in Stockholm, Sweden in 1970. From this he developed a committee of scientists, environmentalists and political operatives from the UN to continue a series of meetings. Strong developed the concept that the UN could demand payments from the advanced nations for the climatic

Signing Away Our Sovereignty
merrie
by merrie  10-28-2009    2
We should be aware that Obama intends to roll out for Senate approval a series of international treaties that will further bind America to the will of the international community if they are ratified. Bit by bit, America's autonomous power is being taken away. The Boston Globe provides a public relations gloss by calling these treaties a means of fulfilling "Obama's vision of global cooperation." This is one view, I suppose. Another view would be that our policies will be tied down by these treaties -- and we will be judged by international bureaucrats and held to their interpretation of what our obligations are under the treaties. International treaties require only Senate approval. Obama will begin with treaties designed to achieve his vision of a world without nuclear weapons. But that is just the beginning. Efforts will begin to bind America to the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea....This will hurt our nation's ability to mine the world's seas for oil and gas....

UN Signals Delay in Climate Change Treaty
merrie
by merrie  10-28-2009
But he indicated that Copenhagen most likely won't produce a treaty, but instead will push governments as far as they can go on the content of an agreement. "The secretary-general believes that we must maintain the political momentum established by the 101 heads of state and government who attended the climate change summit and continue to aim for an ambitious, politically binding agreement in Copenhagen that would chart the way for future post-Copenhagen negotiations that lead to a legally binding global agreement," Pasztor said.

The BBC's amazing U-turn on climate change

The oceans, he says, have a cycle in which they warm and cool cyclically. The most important one is the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO). For much of the 1980s and 1990s, it was in a positive cycle, that means warmer than average. And observations have revealed that global temperatures were warm too. But in the last few years it has been losing its warmth and has recently started to cool down. These cycles in the past have lasted for nearly 30 years.

Where in the World is Global Warming a Priority?
billpar
by billpar  10-26-2009
Sure, there would be a huge transfer of wealth from the developed nations to developing nations, but that’s not what Torethy Frank wants. She says, “There is too much corruption in the government and it goes in people’s pockets. Give the money directly to the people for businesses so we can support ourselves without having to rely on the government.” As David Kreutzer mentions in his Politico chat wrap, there much faster and much less expensive ways to adapt to climate change than trying to change the temperature by capping greenhouse gas emissions. Mosquito nets and attacking breeding grounds of mosquitoes and building levees to protect against potentially rising sea levels are all much cheaper but dramatically more effective than signing on to something that would prohibit these countries to develop.
