POPS10 Technologies that Will Rock 2010 Most of these devices were designed during the boom times for mobile lifestyles. They do not fit very well with the stay-at-home, thrifty lifestyles being imposed by tough economic conditions and rising travel costs.

POPSAre the Holy Grail and Ark of the Covenant Hidden...in Denmark?!? "It is undeniable that those who planned and built the churches of Bornholm knew exactly what they were doing and why they did it,'' the authors say. The authors point to a find of nearly 3,000 tiny, intricately carved golden figures unearthed in a 1985-86 excavation of a Bornholm field as lending credibility to their claim of a Bornholm connection. The golden figures have been dated to AD 400-600 when the Merovingians -- a clan of Frankish kings who claimed to be, like Jesus, of the house and lineage of the Bible's King David -- were at the height of their power. Descendants of the Merovingians later settled in Burgundy. In medieval times, the island was known as Burgunderland or Burgunderholm. The book also quotes a AD 417 work by Spanish historian Orosius, which says the Burgundians came from Bornholm. http://www.rense.com/general6/baltic.htm *LOL* I love stuff like this. .:p

POPSRussian Professor Predicts End of U.S. Interest in his forecast revived this fall when he published an article in Izvestia, one of Russia's biggest national dailies. In it, he reiterated his theory, called U.S. foreign debt "a pyramid scheme," and predicted China and Russia would usurp Washington's role as a global financial regulator. Americans hope President-elect Barack Obama "can work miracles," he wrote. "But when spring comes, it will be clear that there are no miracles." People like him have forecast similar cataclysms before, he says, and been right. He cites French political scientist Emmanuel Todd. Mr. Todd is famous for having rightly forecast the demise of the Soviet Union -- 15 years beforehand. "When he forecast the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1976, people laughed at him," says Prof. Panarin.

POPSThe Other Ongoing World Shame: Darfur As the author indicates, when you have lots of "show," there is often very little "go." Take away all the glitter and false starts and Darfur is still one of the leading killing grounds in the world. Is Sudan's oil worth that much?

POPSEarth Experiment Could Buy Precious Time Initial results suggest that the biggest cooling would occur in the polar regions, which is consistent with theory, and is exactly the place where cooling is most needed. The big advantages of this scheme are that it uses sea water spray, a naturally occurring substance, and that it can be turned off immediately if there are any undesirable consequences.

POPSMan-made eruptions – 'Plan B' in the battle for the planet - #climate #geo-engineering Giving scientific researchers 10 million to do blue-sky geo-engineering research is not much for a Plan B considering the calamitous concsequences of green house gas emmissions. Plan A to be negotiated at Copenhagen is also totally inadequate because it is predicated on the assumption that people can keep on living as they are: driving, flying, consuming. Too bad that so few of us will even entertain Plan C(onsciousness) which is to change our purpose in life. If everybody's primary purpose in life was nurture and support nature, rather than exploit it for themselves, there might just be a chance. And even if there is no chance, at least we would end up doing the right thing. Virtue is its own reward.

POPS'Baitullah Mehsud is Alive' - US Intelligence Official
The late night airstrike on a compound operated by Ikramuddin Mehsud, Baitullah's father-in-law, in the village of Zanghra in the mountains near Baitullah's home town of Makeen, killed Baitullah's second wife and two other Taliban fighters. One of Baitullah's two brothers was also reported to have been killed. "We suspect he was killed in the missile strike," Interior Minister Rehman Malik told Geo News. "We have some information, but we don't have material evidence to confirm it." Pakistan's chief military spokesman later denied reports that Baitullah was killed. Later in the day, a US intelligence official told ABC News today that "there is strong indication" Baitullah was killed. "Efforts are underway to determine for certain whether it was Mehsud, but there are hopes that it is him," the official told the television network. The Taliban have not issued a statement to confirm or deny Baitullah's death. In the past, the Taliban and al Qaeda have released . . .

POPSPalin Vs. Kerry.. So much energy resources for Alaska and the US, but the current governmental climate will not allow for such things, True of our state also. America is being ham strung. Our government is willfully undermining our productivity for the purpose of The Lie and their own agenda. America has all the resources to be nationally independent but the politics of Washington have bound us for geo-political purposes.

POPS(No) Drill, Baby, Drill But when Costa Rica put one minister in charge of energy and environment, “it created a very different way of thinking about how to solve problems,” said Rodríguez, now a regional vice president for Conservation International. “The environment sector was able to influence the energy choices by saying: ‘Look, if you want cheap energy, the cheapest energy in the long-run is renewable energy. So let’s not think just about the next six months; let’s think out 25 years.’ ” As a result, Costa Rica hugely invested in hydro-electric power, wind and geo-thermal, and today it gets more than 95 percent of its energy from these renewables. In 1985, it was 50 percent hydro, 50 percent oil. More interesting, Costa Rica discovered its own oil five years ago but decided to ban drilling — so as not to pollute its politics or environment! What country bans oil drilling?

POPSGeoducks - Tasty but Strange "Treat them with respect. They'll outlive any of you - they get up to 160 years old . It's the second longest-living organism on Earth (after giant tortoises, which can live almost 200 years). As they grow, they accumulate rings on their shell, much like a tree does."
