The rest of us Bush haters are Bush haters for one reason and one reason only; we pay attention! So to my new former Bush supporting friends who seem to be suddenly surrounding me and telling me that I have been right all along: you can tell me I was right but after that shut the hell up because it is too late for forgiveness. POPSGenetically Modified Humans Not likely, you say. Really. Just a few years ago, we didn’t think that genetically modified animals would be an issue. Now it is. When the genetically modified baby boom starts coming into play, don’t you think the designers will want a patent on the genes? And do you think they will be any less willing to enforce their patent on those genes than Monsanto is on farmers who use the company’s patented technology for crops? Let’s face it. We could be looking at a future of patented designer humans. If a person is found to have the patented gene, that person could be indebted for life to the patent holder – born to pay from the moment of conception. This is a multinational corporate wet dream. And last but certainly not least, we have to ask ourselves – do we really want genetically modified humans in our midst?

POPSChickens Not Fooled by GM Crops GM corn found itself in the hot seat late last year, after a highly reputable study commissioned by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety discovered that mice fed GM corn had significantly smaller and fewer offspring compared to the control group. The lead author of the study stated there was a direct link between the GM diet and reduced fertility. Likewise, Jeffrey Smith, author of Seeds of Deception and Genetic Roulette, has documented 65 serious health risks from GM products of all kinds. Among them: * Offspring of rats fed GM soy showed a five-fold increase in mortality, lower birth weights, and the inability to reproduce * Male mice fed GM soy had damaged sperm * The embryo offspring of GM soy-fed mice had altered DNA functioning * Several US farmers reported sterility or fertility problems among pigs and cows fed on GM corn varieties So the question is, what

POPSPepsiCo Chooses to Continue Using GE Ingredients Despite Evidence of Harm
The list of evil corporations grows longer. What else would you label a corporation that continues to use ingredients proven to cause toxicity in the kidney and liver? They sure as hell cannot be considered beneficial or benevolent. US law does not require GE foods be tested for toxicity so PepsiCo will continue to use the material without conscience. To quote Pepsi's response to the proposal: "We believe that genetically-modified products can play a role in generating positive economic, social and environmental contributions to societies around the world; particularly in times of food shortages." PepsiCo’s belief system (making money no matter what) doesn’t fit in with lab test results therefore disregard the tests. Incredibly, Monsanto had this to say: "Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA's job." That’s my definition of an evil corporation.

For a while every time I saw my Senator, I would greet him with the same comment, "Hey Bernie, when are you going to do something about Monsanto?" Senator Bernie would shake his head and raise his hands in frustration. I often heard him say that no matter how bad you think things are in Washington, they are really much worse. While the Congress is distracted with growth hormones taken by sports figures, our farm animals are being abused with other hormones. Baseball players have a free choice. Cows don't. None of us have a choice. Not if Monsanto has anything to say about it and they do. Money talks.

For instance, research this year indicates that larvae of the monarch butterfly exposed to the genetically modified corn “behave differently than other larvae.” In the decision concerning the corn seeds produced by Dow and Pioneer, Mr. Dimas calls “potential damage on the environment irreversible.” In the decision on Syngenta’s corn, he says that “the level of risk generated by the cultivation of this product for the environment is unacceptable.”

POPSGM tomato has floral,fruity smell Volatile terpenoids, have antimicrobial,pesticidal, and antifungal properties, to give the tomatoes longer shelf life, and need less pesticides. I thought the best tomatoes smelled like tomatoes. The smell of food is a message to the brain, that can signify it's nutritional content according to it's ingredients. Fooling sense of smell for the sake of shelf life, and cost saving, makes it seem like the customer's health is low on the priority list. Since, tomatoes are the fruit of a flowering plant, they don't need lemons to make them smell like fruit, or flowers.

The FDA, EPA and USDA are all on the case, trying to determine how best to discipline Monsanto. Don’t hold your breath.

Jimminy Jilickers Radioactive Man, the vice president is selling nukes to Iran and the media doesn't want to talk about it! And that's just the second most significant news story swept under the rug this year according to this Kronkite-endorsed .org. I wonder, what is going on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to, and how does it affect my daily life/sense of reality? If the VP (by way of Halliburton) is in bed with Iran then its not a stretch to think that the media could be in bed with the government. Its almost impossible to know where the real lines are drawn anymore. Democrat/Republican. Democracy/Dictatorship. Capitalist/Fundamentalist. Journalist/Editorialist. Sinner/Saint Its all the same now, the lines are totally blurred. It could be conjectured that much of what we are sold, told, and taught is designed to keep us just "in the know" enough to do our jobs , buy things, and have babies that will grow up, do jobs, and buy things.
