Under the proposal, Israel would return to the Palestinians some 92.7 percent of the occupied West Bank, plus all of the Gaza Strip In fact, it is impossible to "return" West Bank land to the Palestinians, as they never were the sovereigns of this territory. http://blog.camera.org/archives/2008/08/updated_reuters_rewrites_ruler.html Before 1967, when the West Bank came into Israeli hands, the territory was ruled (and annexed) by Jordan. Prior to that, it was under British rule. Before that, it was Ottoman territory. The Egyptians ruled for some time, as did the Mamluks, the Crusaders, Arab Caliphs, and a number of other ancient empires. But the Palestinians are not on this list. So while the West Bank could technically "return" to Jordanian or British sovereignty, it could not, however, return to Palestinian sovereignty.

A Hamas spokesman, Sami Abu Zuhri, told Reuters the group did "not expect it will influence the Gaza calm." Israel Radio described the driver as a 30-year-old Arab who was known to the authorities because of a criminal record. The attack was the first serious episode in Jerusalem since Palestinian from East Jerusalem shot dead eight students at a yeshiva school in March. Rosenfeld, the police spokesman, said the driver came from one of several large Palestinian villages in the East Jerusalem area. The earthmover appeared to have been driven out of a construction site on Jaffa Road. Hundreds of people were reported to have fled the area. "It could have been a lot worse," said Micky Rosenfeld, a police spokesman. Police referred to the driver as a terrorist but his motive and identity were not immediately made known.

All these articles show on google search and are dated June 2008, now oil prices are up to $140 per barrel. Yet no one is talking about war-mongering as a factor in high oil prices, even though Iran is the 4th largest exporter in the world. As some would say...Duh! It is not a supply issue. Repeating for the upteenth time, high gas prices are due to: 1. speculative trading 2. dollar devaluation 3. geopolitical issues (war, rumors of war, US war policy, Israel) 4. government debt, increased money supply, war spending. These all tie together and started oil's price surge when the Iraq war began, and not before. War policy drives oil up on the trade floor.
