POPSGay? Who Cares? "For some of the pioneers from the edgy, embattled, ecstatic "good old days," this may be bittersweet. "But isn't that what everyone wanted 20 years ago?" Gates asks. "Just to be treated like everyone else?"

POPSNew Debate on 'Curing' Gays I think this represents a big changed in relatively little time. It wasn't so long ago that gays were reviled as "fags" or "queers" and homosexuality was considered and treated as a psychological disorder. No religious conservative--Catholic, Protestant, Jew, or Muslim--would stand up in the pulpit today and declare that blacks are inferior human beings. And it's only a matter of time before they stop calling gays and lesbians inferior also. For the very same reason: it contradicts God's love for all creation.

POPSWhy We Kiss Studies show that as many as 80 percent of mothers, whether right-handed or left-handed, cradle their infants on their left side. Infants cradled, face up, on the left must turn to the right to nurse or nuzzle. As a result, most of us may have learned to associate warmth and security with turning to the right.

POPSA greater evil is more likely as America wakes up to the awesome...
Beside the effective destruction of the Iraqi state, these include the revitalising of militant Islamism and enhancement of the international appeal of the al-Qaida brand; the eruption for the first time in modern history of internecine war between Sunni and Shia - "a trend that reverberates in other states of mixed confessional composition"; the alienation of most sectors of Turkish politics from the west, and the stimulation of authoritarian nationalism there; the strengthening of a nuclear-hungry Iran; and a new regional rivalry, pitting the Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies, including Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas, against Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan. For the US, the world is now, as a result, a more dangerous and hostile place. At the end of 2002, what is sometimes tagged al-Qaida Central in Afghanistan had been virtually destroyed and there was no al-Qaida in Iraq. In 2007, there is an al-Qaida in Iraq; parts of the old are creeping back; there are al-Qaida emulator

POPSWhy has Congress failed Americans? I add emphasis on the words the two-party duopoly's grip on the US-American political system . I'd like to learn something about actual endeavors to change this political system. Also I'd like to know, whereby the rinky-dink voter turnout of US-American elections is caused. Is it for instance, because too many citizens muddle politics and political elections with entertainment ? If this is the case: 1) What's your developmental-psychological age, American people? 2) Why are you so discontented with the results of your latest elections?

POPSNew Poll: Democrats Open Up Giant Gap Before Midterm Elections Government corruption, Iraq and terrorism were the three most important issues to poll respondents. They said Democrats would do a better job on all three. The party had a 21-point advantage on handling corruption and a 17-point advantage on Iraq. A longstanding GOP advantage on terrorism vanished; Democrats had a 5-point edge. Yet another set of record-breaking poll results in.

POPSScary statistics for Obama supporters Seems to me that the point of having Superdelegates was to make the wisest strategic decision if the primaries didn't result in a clear winner. Speaking objectively, you would have to think these statistics are weighing heavily on the minds of those in support of Obama.

POPSUS divided on Death Penalty There is another clip floating around that only shows part of the equation. When given a question that only allows a binary (yes-no) answer most US citizens support the death penalty. When their world is expanded and more options are given in the wording of the question, e.g. "Which is the Better Penalty for Murder-- the Death Penalty or Life imprisonment", the US is divided almost 50-50 on which is the better penalty. There has been a significant change in what percentage of the population still believes the death penalty actually works as a deterrent. A large majority believe the death penalty is ineffective as a deterrent.

POPSFuelist Democrats Amen! Amen! This Congress, whether Reps. or Dems. have brought us to this point. As a matter of fact, it's been avalanche-ing towards this point for over a decade. I hope people are as hoppin' mad as I am....and I don't drive no SUV.

POPSConfidence Poll Well, it's not surprising. I am pleased that, even though it's lower than I would have expected, the military was at the top. Congress is, indeed, in the very pit.

POPSKill-the-penny bill introduced The move is in part a reaction to the rising cost of zinc - the penny's main ingredient - which at current prices brings the cost of making the coin to 1.4 cents each. Last time I clipped this, the cost of making a penny was only 1.23 cents . Pennies are spiraling out of control! :)
