How Many Lies Is Enough?
merrie
by merrie  12-5-2009    1
“I intend to take serious steps to reduce America’s long-term deficit because debt-driven growth cannot fuel America’s long-term prosperity.” So what happens when your debts become greater than your assets? You end up like GM and Chrysler - bankrupt. The country will be sold to the highest bidder, just as it is now being sold off to Red China. Cloward-Piven But Obama isn’t concerned with that, in fact, it’s exactly what he wants. Break the bank and redistribute the wealth to those who no longer have any income after the economy has collapsed and the country finds itself in a deep depression - taking much of the free world down with it. That is the Cloward-Piven strategy for the destruction of capitalism and the free market. In September of last year, American Thinker published my article, Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis. Part of a series, (http://bit.ly/7Cn04V) it connected then-presidential candidate Barack Obama to ....

China's backing on Iran followed dire predictions
jatfla
by jatfla  11-26-2009
It means nothing...just more paper and ink. I heard John Bolton this morning say that Israel will not wait much longer; it can not afford to. If Iran goes nuclear (as it intends) then that will motivate other countries in the region to do the same. Plus Iran would willingly give their nukes to such as Hamas and Hezbollah or sail one up a European or US dock. He said what we all know: That El Baradai has provided cover for Iran for the last 12 yrs. and that we can be "Thankful" that he is gone from the IAEA in just a few days.

The Mysterious Origin and Supply of Oil
ljsdesign
by ljsdesign  10-22-2009
processes for making petroleum likely require thousands of years. Even if Earth does contain far more oil than currently thought, it's inevitable that reserves will one day run out. Scientists disagree sharply, however, on when that will occur. And, some say, a global crisis could begin as soon as increasing demand is greater than supply, a possibility that might be measured in years rather than decades, some analysts argue.

U.S.Troop Funds $2.6 Billion Taken From Guns and Ammunition For "Pet Projects"

"The Senate is putting favorable headlines back home above our men and women fighting on the front lines," he said in a statement. He discovered that senators added $2.6 billion in pet projects while spending $4 billion less than the administration requested for fiscal 2010, which began Oct. 1. Mr. Wheeler said that senators took most of the cash for the projects from the "operations and maintenance" or O&M accounts. "These are the accounts that pay for troop training, repairs, spares and supplies for vehicles, weapons, ships and planes,

Energy crisis is postponed as new gas rescues the world
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-12-2009    1
"The common wisdom was that unconventional gas was too difficult, too expensive and too demanding," he said, according to Petroleum Economist. "This has changed. If we ever doubted that gas was the fuel of the future – in many ways there's the answer." The breakthrough has been to combine 3-D seismic imaging with new technologies to free "tight gas" by smashing rocks, known as hydro-fracturing or "fracking" in the trade. The US is leading the charge. Operations in Pennsylvania and Texas have already been sufficient to cut US imports of liquefied natural gas (LGN) from Trinidad and Qatar to almost nil, with knock-on effects for the global gas market – and crude oil. It is one reason why spot prices for some LNG deliveries have dropped to 50pc of pipeline contracts. We may soon be looking at an era when gas, wind and solar power, combined with a smarter grid and a switch to electric cars returns the country to near energy self-sufficiency.

Energy Crisis Postponed: New Gas Rescues The World

Tony Hayward, BP's chief executive, said proven natural gas reserves around the world have risen to 1.2 trillion barrels of oil equivalent, enough for 60 years' supply " and rising fast. "There has been a revolution in the gas fields of North America. Reserve estimates are rising sharply as technology unlocks unconventional resources," he said. If the President doesn't allow the military to deal with 4 pirates in a lifeboat, we are INDEED doomed when confronted by Iran, Russia, N. Korea, etc... Carbon-Capped Nation
merrie
by merrie  3-19-2009
life support for American automobile manufacturers. Will it turn out to be a rare orphan of a machine? Waiting for revival of the housing sector likewise ignores the real shock that energy constraints imposed on commuters to the suburbs. The large house and long commute that underlay the past evolution of America's residential capital stock presumed the continued availability of cheap energy. Joseph Cortright provides a persuasive paper attributing the collapse of housing prices to the rise of gasoline prices. All indications suggest that prices fell in proportion to the distances of houses from the central business districts of the cities in which their occupants worked. Carbon caps will now stifle further investment in energy infrastructure, promote expectations of high fuel prices to come, and depress incomes. The roomy house in the suburbs seems unlikely to recover its lost value, or even hold its present residual value, in a carbon-capped nation.

a high tech leap that has any number of offshoots - and it has been cancelled. In this tsunami of government spending, the opportunity to harness nuclear fusion based power has been ended, replaced with dog runs and bike paths in the Spendulus pork buster bill! How did this happen? Here is an overview on the program and its potential: The sun and the stars burn hot in the cold, infinite depths of space because of nuclear fusion, where hydrogen atoms combine to form heavier elements with the release of energy. If mankind could harness this fusion process, we would have nearly unlimited fuel with little or no pollution. Although fusion has been achieved in the hydrogen bomb, researchers have been looking for over 50 years to tame it for electrical power. Taking up the daunting challenge, the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is embarked on a program to reach this goal by using a new technology. http://www.saic.com/news/saicmag/2004-summer/fusion.html

White supremacism lies at the root of the 'respectable' nativist right

Last October, as America was being roiled by the subprime mortgage meltdown that led to the current financial crisis, the executive director of one of the most influential immigration think tanks in the nation was in a joking mood. Shortly after the failure of Washington Mutual Bank, Mark Krikorian found a press release issued months earlier by the bank that celebrated its inclusion on a list of “Business Diversity Elites” compiled by Hispanic Business magazine. Krikorian posted the release at the conservative National Review Online, where he writes from time to time, along with his own sneering headline: “Cause and Effect?” Krikorian no doubt thought of his posting as a simple joke. But to many, the attempt by the leader of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) to suggest a link between Washington Mutual’s commitment to opening its ranks to Latinos and its demise spoke volumes about the nature of CIS and its prolific research. Although the think tank bi

Great idea! The Big 3 have been making fuel efficient cars for Europe for years, why not bring them here? Detroit needs money, and we need efficient vehicles. Let’s make a deal: We taxpayers will provide the funding to retool their factories to build just the specific models that are in the Common Good. We’ll fund retooling to build any models that help solve the climate crisis by getting better than 50 mpg, right now. It’s a win-win.

The Perils of Cheap Oil
Spiritualmonkey

CONT'D: "When economic growth resumes across the globe, demand for oil will surge once again. Only this time around, given the constraints presented by declining oil fields and the current apparent freeze in investment in new oil production capacity, the supply-demand equation will likely send oil prices shooting back up, perhaps even further than before. "Which is why now is the time, more than ever, for government leadership that promotes conservation, energy efficiency, fuel economy, and increased production of renewable energy. Waiting until the economy recovers before tackling energy would be a huge, huge mistake."

Medvedev rounded on the United States for ills ranging from the global financial crisis to the recent war in Georgia, in a state-of-the-nation speech that was watched intently by his mentor Vladimir Putin, and omitted mentioning Obama by name. http://news.theage.com.au/world/russias-medvedev-hits-out-at-us-20081105-5ilq.html
