POPSThe Nullification of ObamaCare
So if you think marching on D.C. or calling your Representatives, or threatening to “throw the bums out” in 2010 or 2012 or 20-whatever, is going to further the cause of the Constitution and your liberty—you might as well get your shackles on now. Your last chance has come and gone. The real way to resist DC is not by begging politicians and judges in Washington to allow us to exercise our rights…it’s to exercise our rights whether they want to give us “permission” to or not. Nullification—state-level resistance to unconstitutional federal laws—is the way forward. When a state nullifies a federal law, it is proclaiming that the law in question is void and inoperative, or ’effective,’ within the boundaries of that state; or, in other words, not a law as far as that state is concerned. It’s peaceful, effective, and has a long history in the American tradition. It’s been invoked in support of free speech, in opposition to war and fugitive slave laws, and more. Read more on thi

POPS“Houston, We Have a Problem” (Connecting The Terror Dots) With regard to the Islamic terrorist literature found at the same location , our own Bill of Rights allows us the ability to possess certain writings within the scope of the law, despite the increasingly unpopular fact under the Obama administration and the reign of Napolitano that we are fighting Islamic terrorists on our own soil. Except for inquiring minds, this story could almost end here. But as the saying goes, “Houston, we have a problem.” Picking up where the media left off, this investigator looked deeper into this incident and the background of the suspect, finding some facts that should raise some important questions about events that have been taking place inside the U.S., and perhaps connect some dots in the asymmetrical war being waged against us by Islamic terrorists from within. POPS Cash for Cloture: Demcare Bribe List, Pt. II
1. The Hill reports that while Nelson credited Nebraska’s governor for giving him the idea to lobby for the government preference, Nebraska’s governor assailed the payoff: “Nebraskans did not ask for a special deal, only a fair deal,” Heineman said in a statement Sunday. In response, Nelson fired off a letter Sunday to Heineman saying he’s prepared to ask that the provision covering Nebraska’s Medicaid share “be removed from the amendment in conference, if it is your desire.” 2, Vermont and Massachusetts will get similar (though less generous) special treatment by the feds in covering Medicaid expansion costs. Combined with Nebraska’s tab, the exclusive clique’s payoffs will cost taxpayers $1.2 billion over 10 years. At least. 3, He’s plunging in the polls and in need of a little bacon to bring home. A $100 million item for construction of a university hospital was inserted in the Senate health care bill at the request of Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn ......

POPSPrisons Taking Work From Private Sector: Current Employees Laid Off
at an Otisville, N.Y. prison are continuing their jobs: producing solar panels The insanity continues: “green jobs” are turning into “orange jumpsuit” jobs. Unfortunately, most Americans remain unaware of the Federal Prison Industries’ (FPI) exploits. FPI employs cheap prison labor " compensating inmates at wages of between 23 cents and $1.15 an hour " to assemble products purchased by federal agencies under a mandatory source arrangement. Mandatory source status means if a federal agency needs to purchase a product offered by FPI, the agency must buy it from FPI, even if the price is higher, the quality lower or the delivery longer than that of commercial products FPI has used its competitive advantage for years to expand its business into such industries as furniture, vehicular components and textiles. Just recently we learned Traverse Bay Manufacturing Inc. a family-owned textile products business in northern Michigan, also is losing business to federal prisoners

POPS The $50 Billion New Socialist Media
As Accuracy in Media was the first to disclose, McChesney recently introduced Obama's anti-American pastor Jeremiah Wright at a celebration of the socialist publication Monthly Review. Wright praised Marxism and called America "land of the greed and home of the slave." McChesney has provided a platform for representatives of the left-wing media watchdog organization that also calls itself Media Matters. Topics have included "How hate talk radicalized the American right," "How the press rolled over for Bush," and "What liberal media?" The entire thrust of the program is that the media are too conservative and too "capitalist." No Fairness Or Balance Here The one-sided nature of the show is ironic since Free Press regularly attacks Fox News for not being truly "fair and balanced." Indeed, when one of its former board members, Van Jones, was being exposed on Fox News for his communist views and background, Free Press said this "visionary and principled" leader

POPS Newspaper Industry Bailout on The Way? Waxman’s “indication that government has a role to play is both bold and soberly sensible,” said Free Press Policy Director Ben Scott on the sidelines of the FTC conference. At the Federal Communications Commission, officials are embarking on a quadrennial review of the state of U.S. media. The study, which is mandated by Congress, seeks to determine whether current rules should be changed to allow for a more vibrant media industry serving a diverse audience. POPSObama with Blood on His Hands n reality, U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have operated under standing orders to "call for fire" (an air-strike) whenever resistance fighters take cover in a house or apartment building, even when large numbers of civilians may also be inside the building. The overriding priorities have always been to avoid risking American lives in dangerous house searches and to kill "insurgents." Human rights reports by the U.N. Assistance Mission to Iraq (UNAMI) have documented many such incidents in which civilians have been killed, as well as extensive discussions between U.N. and U.S. officials about them. For instance, in its human rights report for the 2nd quarter of 2007, UNAMI insisted that American air strikes in densely populated civilian areas were violations of international law. American attitudes to protecting civilians in wartime and other requirements of international humanitarian law differ sharply from those of people in other countries.

POPS1000s cheer Palin in Mich. for book tour
I hope someone gives me her book for Christmas. I doubt that she has Presidential aspirations but I believe she is hoping to give encouragement and energy to the conservatives of America who have, honestly, lost all hope that America can rebound from the free-fall over the last several years. As much as I appreciated President Bush (and admired his wife) he was too nice those last several years and allowed the press to bash him mercilessly. Plus I did not agree with the illegal immigration issue. I wish he had pressed more for energy independence but I believe he was worn down and out by the faulty intelligence, the back-biting within his Cabinet, dealing with the causalities of the wars in Afghanistan & Iraq, etc. A person can only handle so much without physically and mentally drawing down. Palin is fresh, feisty, fearsome and committed to her conservative values. That's what people hear..PLUS all the attacks from the MSM which make them like her more!!

POPS Ga Ga for Sarah The success of Palin’s book will help pay the enormous legal bills she and her husband faced as the result of malicious suits brought against her, all of which have ended in failure to find any wrongdoing. Her speaking fees will provide her family with a lifestyle that she has earned by being tough enough to meet the extraordinary challenges with which her political and personal life has presented her. Beyond that, I do not see her reentering the political scene by running for Senator from Alaska, for its Governor again, or any other position, least of all the presidency. I think she will continue to evolve into a spokesperson for values and principles that many Americans share, but which are being eroded by a full scale attack by the Obama administration. So, let’s all go ga-ga for Sarah for a little while and let’s hope she will eviscerate Barack Obama with the same gusto she hunted moose. POPSContrast - Press Release vs Actual News This is a press release. A careful reading shows the lengths the publishers will go to increase sales. It clearly frames the "authors" (quotes are for ridicule) as somehow victims of the angry hordes of evil atheists gathering outside the town's walls waving pitchforks and torches. This approach probably will be successful. It plays right into the Religious Rights perceptions of persecution and prejudice.

POPSApproved by White House ~ Reform Media.Transform Democracy
Is Dissent ‘Legitimate’? Not According to Campaign Finance Laws by Bert Gall and Robert Frommer -- Pajamas Media After the administration decreed that Fox is not a “legitimate news organization” and that people shouldn’t watch it, more people than ever are tuning in to see Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly fight back. Fundamentally, it’s because the administration’s media war against Fox is but a minor display of the tremendous power the government has to stifle speech it views as illegitimate. Much of this power is the result of long-standing “campaign finance” laws. These laws impose all sorts of restrictions on political speech, and it’s no coincidence that the most draconian of these restrictions are targeted at those who can speak the most effectively against a politician’s reelection. The most effective speakers tend to be those who can spend the most money. Corporations, many of which have lots of money, receive particularly harsh treatment under

POPSInvested In War n 2004, the first full year after the current Iraq war began, Republican and Democratic lawmakers-both hawks and doves invested between $74.9 million and 161.3 million in companies under contract with the DoD. No wonder the Democratic congress kept approving the enormous spending bills on the war, since a significant portion of it happens to end up in their deep pockets. Interestingly, the report also mentioned that members of the senate foreign relations and armed services committees which oversee the Iraq war had between $32 million and $44 million invested in companies with DoD contracts. The burning questions for many people are the following: Are there any ethics left in politics? Could the universe ever exist without wars? The answer is no, because wars have been a major part of our social make up, in addition they force geostrategic changes, make profits for the elite, and reduce population.

POPS Obama’s Media Control Strategy
It looks like various progressive groups are lining up at the public trough for their share of the loot. They have in mind what the George Soros-funded Free Press calls "an alternative media infrastructure." These days we have conservative talk radio, Fox News, and alternatives to the "mainstream" media on the Internet. It is obvious that the Obama Administration and its progressive backers don't appreciate this new state of affairs. Ornstein contrasted what can be, under federal direction, to what we are witnessing "now on health reform," when so many dissenting voices are being heard. He added, "It becomes much more difficult when you have a cacophonous system with fragmented areas of communication." And that "cacophony and fragmentation" is most apparent on the Internet, he said. In other words, those naughty conservatives are standing in the way of Obama's health care reform plan. A new national broadband plan, combined with the just-announced FCC plan for . . .

POPSBanks Do Not Make Good Neighbors Ross Wallace, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, turned in his check for $500 and waited on the auction floor in full dress uniform for a chance to buy a Detroit house on the cheap. Wallace, 27, said he did not want to leave his fiancee and two children with a mortgage before shipping out to Iraq later this year. “I still have student loans and I’m trying to be responsible. I don’t want to leave debt,” he said. Wallace waited for the auction to roll around to Detroit’s Boston-Edison district, a once stately area that was home to boxing legend Joe Louis and Motown founder Berry Gordy. But he was quickly outbid. An unidentified investor at the front of the room who had scooped up several dozen properties took the home Wallace wanted for about $15,000. “Why am I competing against a bank?” he said later. “It would be common sense to have a separate process for people who want to move back to the city or it’s going to stay empty.”
