Carrie Prejean Goes Down. Literally!
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-6-2009    2
Of course, all of this should have little effect on her career. If anything it will add fuel to it with the way Americans are infatuated with hypocrites and fallen angels. Vivid Entertainment Group, which specializes in adult films, made an offer of a million dollars to Prejean back in May to make a movie for them. Seems she might be a natural. This could only raise her value in the porn market. Practice makes perfect. I'm curious as to how all the rightwing Prejean backers will spin this and find a way to blame this on everyone but Prejean. I might even turn on Fox News to check it out. With Prejean's looks and attitude, she may end up with her own show over there since credibility isn't a factor in Fox's hiring practices. And for those of you who don’t remember who actually won the Miss California Pageant, her name is Tami Ferrell from Malibu. How soon we forget those with actual morals.

Although the results were crude, the technique was able to reproduce the rough shape of a man in a white shirt and the image of a city skyline. Prof Jack Gallant, who carried out the experiment at the University of California, Berkeley, said: 'At the moment when you see something and want to describe it to someone you have to use words or draw it and it doesn't work very well. 'You could use this technology to transmit the image to someone. It might be useful for artists or to allow you to recover an eyewitnesses memory of a crime.' The experiment is the latest in a series of studies designed to show how brain scans can reveal our innermost thoughts.

Films today, books tomorrow?
walski69
by walski69  10-15-2009    1
by Mariam Mokhtar "But the scariest thing is how the Puteri Umno motion was passed without debate. An important call such as this should have warranted a little more scrutiny. If the Government were to accede to their request, then it is all Malaysians, who will suffer. Not just Muslims. Movies like the Harry Potter films will not be screened. Lord of the Rings, and even The Wizard of Oz will have to be banned. And what about science fiction films? Alien, Predator and others, may be full of horror, or lack unexplained traditional elements, and thus, will not fit in any religious teaching." In short - ban fucking everything. Would that make 'em happy?

Top Ten: The Scariest Ghost Movies
merrie
by merrie  10-25-2009    1
It is fast approaching that unique portion of the year when all true matters arcane and diabolical are given the festive treatment, as Halloween prompts folks to deploy their broomsticks for something other than sweeping up after the household pet. Although we have recently seen cinematic quotas of the supernatural gobbled up by vampire and zombie flicks, it would be remiss to overlook the genuine chills instilled by the most successful exponents of the ghost movie genre. So here are ten of the scariest ghost movies to put the frighteners on us poor, trembling cinema-goers. Read more >>> http://funster.us/2009/10/top-10-the-scariest-ghost-movies/

Slasher Politics
merrie
by merrie  10-25-2009
Per Jigsaw’s instructions, turncoat Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) shepherds the insurance company nitwits to their demise. No reason why the ”Saw” franchise shouldn’t jump on the pop-culture Obama cheerleading train like everyone else in La-la with a little B-flick health-care advocacy. And with the loan officer thing, there’s something for everyone! One thing slasher fans may want to bear in mind, though. When your gaping, bloody saw wounds need to be stitched and stapled up, do you really want to wait in line for the lowest bidder? Boston Herald’s Tenley Woodman gives Saw VI a “D.” No, not for the feel-good politics embedded in the middle of a feel-bad extravaganza. … it is the depraved acts and gore that make these films objectionable. Hate to quibble, but I think that’s what makes them marketable.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
merrie
by merrie  10-24-2009
The Boondock Saints 1999 .....It's particularly gory and bloody, but this just makes it all the more realistic. In real life, there is a significant amount of blood when someone is shot in the head. The movie has some Christian subtexts, I think I've heard about five major theories about the whole movie's meaning. This shows, in my opinion, that there was obviously a lot of thought put into the movie. I'd recommend it to anyone who can stand the gore, even if they aren't Christians. 10/10

Try ‘Astro Boy,’ the upcoming animated film featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage and Kristen Bell about a boy robot (Freddie Highmore) that leaves his scientist father after finding out he isn’t human. The movie features very adult ideas of ownership and class structure that will most likely be future fodder for college philosophy classes around the country.

Afghanistan - NOT a 'good war'
JackieDel
by JackieDel  10-9-2009
"And of course, it is costing the people of Afghanistan more than anyone. Perhaps one of the most jolting things about watching the film is seeing image after terrible image of civilian suffering: desperate families mired in refugee camps, pain-stricken schoolgirls attacked with acid by the resurgent Taliban, countless injured men, women and children who are the "collateral damage" from errant U.S. bomb strikes. It is a punch-to-the-gut reminder of just how sanitized this war -- which Obama has always called the "right front" of the so-called war on terror -- has been".

Harvey Weinstein thinks being an artist makes raping a child okay, it seems
Lexica
by Lexica  9-30-2009    2
More: I am reassured to know that people with this kind of power, and this kind of money, fully believe they have the right to use the connections that they have, to help a friend evade prosecution for this 'so called crime'. It makes me feel very positive about the world, that the drugging and raping, of a 13 year old child- is not rape, as long as it is a powerful celebrity that is raping her. It reassures me that women like Deborah Winger, and Whoopi Goldberg- are standing up to tell the world that this 'so called crime' is not really that bad, its not like its 'rape rape' after all. Well if a case where a undisputed facts are that a 13 year old was repeatedly fucked against her will, after being drugged, is not rape= then really, I would like to know what constitutes rape at all? Oh wait, I am not reassured. I am fucking angry. Disgusted. Horrified. Dumbfounded.
