POPSDCCC: Obama 'more aggressive in fighting al Qaeda' than Bush Does this make anyone else just gag?!! What they call 'scoring points' I call sounding the alarm. And as far as putting "country before political party" concerning national security...that's just an outright lie and to suggest that we need to "learn from this episode" is the height of idiocy. Conservatives have looooong been aware of the ongoing and dangerous advancement of radical Muslim jihadists; we learned it already! How about the DCCC stop with the rhetoric and join the fight.

POPSGreat George Carlin Quotes-Questions Not on this list but a great one: Dogs spend their whole working day laying around, occasionally getting up to circle around and lay down again -- If this is their work, I wonder what do dogs do on their days off?

POPSGod Bless Our Troops I realized the families that I saw this night, owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight. Soon round the world, the children would play, and grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year, because of the soldiers, like the one lying here. I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone, on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry. The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice, "Santa don't cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, my life is my God, my Country, My Corps." The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep. I kept watch for hours, so silent and still and we both shivered from the cold night's chill.

POPSCop Pulls Gun During Snowball Fight ... Could it Have Been 'Roid Rage'? From Boston to Arizona, police departments are investigating a growing number of incidents involving uniformed police officers using steroids. So-called "juicing" has been anecdotally associated with several brutality cases, including the 1997 sodomizing of Haitian immigrant Abner Louima in New York City. Anabolic steroids are synthesized male sex hormones that promote muscle mass. When prescribed legally, medical steroids are used to treat growth problems in children, anemia and chronic infections like HIV. A common side effect of steroid use is violent, aggressive behavior that can contribute to poor judgment and even police brutality, according to medical experts. Gene Sanders, a Spokane, Wash., police psychologist, estimates that up to 25 percent of all police officers in urban settings with gangs and high crime use steroids — many of them defensively.

POPSD.C. Cop Blasted Over Gun in Snowball Fight Veteran cop was outgunned with all of the snowballers out there. Plus, he's the only black guy out there in the middle of all those white folk. He should have his gun available..... He didn't like his ride being pummeled by snowballs either....

POPS... Join a Credit Union ... My own relationship with Banks is complicated. (1) My impressions of Banks are clouded by my 46 year relationship with them. (2) Like most folks, I started out as a borrower, but now I'm a depositor. (3) Several of the "Big 5" are my Customers and one of these is even a "Client". (4) I've learned that Canadian Banks are very different than those in the United States. All of that being said, after meeting with my bankers this morning, I can't help but feel the best way to help them fight their own executive bureaucracies is to ... Join a credit union!

POPSFight Against Mountaintop Removal Update A common sense statement from the article below: "If we don't start building a clean energy economy and diversifying jobs in West Virginia, what will our children do for jobs in 20 years when the coal runs out?" asks Coal River Mountain Watch organizer Lorelei Scarbro. "If we can save this mountain then we can begin developing sustainable jobs and renewable energy, and we can maybe have an impact on the climate crisis that faces us all."

POPSWhy Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate "I would want to be free, never in a situation where someone could march us off to ovens or prisons or take away our freedom.' "The key to freedom is the ability to be able to defend yourself. If you don't have the tools to do that then you're at the mercy of whoever wants you to put you away." The Swiss understand freedom and their citizens are prepared to fight to keep theirs.

POPS “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Senate Republicans should have been shouting those two words on the Senate floor early and often from the moment this bill was considered, instead of the complete silence we have heard " other than to constantly agree to conduct business through unanimous consent. Here are just a few ways those words can (and should) be used in a very effective way: The rules of the Senate require that a quorum be present to transact business. A quorum is 51 Senators. In most instances, outside of roll call votes, there are no more than 4 Senators on the Senate floor. If a Republican Senator suggested the absence of a quorum, Democrats could not transact business on the bill. When the Democrats ask unanimous consent that the quorum call be dispensed with, the Republican should immediately shout “I object.” The healthcare bill violates 425(a)(2) of the Budget Act, which prohibits consideration of any legislation that contains an unfunded intergovernmental mandate

POPSHow Well They Played Our Game "It did not take long for the Japanese to tire of the territorial restrictions placed upon them by their Anglo-American partners. No one in Oslo, or in the United States Congress, knew the truth then. But the Japanese did. And the American president’s support emboldened them to increase their military might — and their imperial ambitions. In December 1941, the consequence of Theodore Roosevelt’s recklessness would become clear to those few who knew of the secret dealings."
