"Feral cat pack terrorise town"
cakebelly

more (at source): Other residents say they have to stop their children playing outside because of the cat attacks — which they liken to a horror similar to Hitchcock film The Birds. One 59-year-old woman said she no longer lets her grandchildren play in the street, adding: "The situation has got out of hand. It is like The Birds around here - but with cats. "They have damaged fences and sheds. It is ruining our quality of life." Another local said the screeching wild cats keep residents up all night.

Obamacare - Ted Kennedy Lives; Grandma Dies
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  7-21-2009
The government, on the other hand, simply wants you to be efficient. Hence, daring to stay alive – loving and being loved while walking through the fire – is a selfish thing, a foolish expenditure of time, funding and manpower when you are “dying anyway”; determining that you will kill yourself when your engine no longer performs at optimum capacity, well, that’s selfless, heroic and brave. This mindset is evil, by the way. If you’re not sure, if you’re wondering about it, let’s be clear: assigning monetary value to life based on budgets and arbitrary assessments that disregard humanity’s (and life’s) “intangible assets” such as, you know…loving, being loved and oh yes, the basic human desire to continue living, is evil.

The "Fight Club" theory of Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Lexica
by Lexica  7-11-2009
More: Here's another thing that led me to adopting the Fight Club theory -- the odometer problem. Would Ferris Bueller NOT know that you can't roll an odometer back by driving in reverse? It's Ferris freakin' Bueller! Yet we're to believe that THIS is the only mistake he makes in the film? Setting aside Ed Rooney hitting the doorbell multiple times, this is the only mistake Ferris makes that leaves behind incriminating, unexplainable, physical evidence! There's a reason for this. It's Cameron's mistake. Setting the car up to go in reverse is something hardluck Cameron would try to do and fail. Ferris says, "We'll have to crack it open and roll the odometer back by hand." Well, sure, but Cameron nixes the idea, because he knows he doesn't have the skill to do that in the real world . He's screwed, and his imaginary friend can't help him here.

NATO's War Plans For The High North

"'These exercises increase the risk of a conflict,' says Anna Ek, head of Sweden's Peace and Arbitration Society. 'They send out offensive and aggressive signals. Should we really be planning for a conflict with Russia while there is still a window of opportunity for cooperation in the Arctic?' "This can be perceived as very provocative. The Barents region with its proximity to the Arctic makes it a sensitive area. With all the talk about melting ice and the fight over natural resources this can look like a demonstration of power from NATO's side." "NATO is not a defensive alliance. It is the world's largest nuclear weapons club and war machine." The huge exercise took place 8 to 18 June 2009. I have never even heard of it and I live here! Tss!

Teens Club for Animal Rights
Imnclady
by Imnclady  5-6-2009
These days there are too many bad things that our children can get into...lack of supervision, boredom, low self esteem, peer pressure can all contribute. That's why it's important for them to know what goes on in this world and what part they can play in making a difference. By giving them a voice in something they believe in, is one way to keep their minds occupied. Nothing could feel better than knowing that they are saving the lives of animals...Humane Teen Clubs should be encouraged in our homes and in the schools..Our children need to learn that they can make a difference, everything is not hopeless ...I would be proud to know my child or grandchild joined in the fight against animal cruelty around the world and in their own community

purposes of extracting actionable intelligence from high-value subjects, not for purposes of punishment or extracting confessions, and that a great deal of actionable intelligence reportedly was obtained. Also fails to note that, in accordance with CIA guidelines, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who apparently was subjected to the most extensive dousing, demonstrably suffered no lasting physical or pyschological harm, nor was much cowed by it, given that in recent appearances before a military tribunal, he not only remained a proud and defiant terrorist, but was actively trying to manipulate the behavior of other members of his cell in Guantanamo. At this point it is all academic, as the practice is no longer in use, and the current administration has declined to attempt a prosecution, perhaps having recognized that it is more productive to focus on combating al-Qaeda and its offshoots than engaging in Ed Norton “Fight Club”-style beatdowns on ourselves,

George Soros Finally Gets It ~ February 21, 2009
merrie
by merrie  2-22-2009
He seems to be in the camp that says if we can just “unclog” bank balance sheets then we’ll get credit “flowing again.” But the problem isn’t a lack of liquidity, it’s insolvency. A gangrenous leg can’t be “fixed” with blood transfusions. The only “solution” is amputation. A man will make himself believe most anything if his salary depends on it. Lots of salaries are at risk, so lots of heels are digging themselves in. Anyway, as I’ve argued for awhile, the only way to “solve” the crisis is to let asset prices fall. And that means the balance sheets on which those assets currently reside need to recognize substantial losses. Call it the “Fight Club” solution*—everyone goes back to $0. This would be highly painful for ALL Americans. But it would be most painful for those with the most to lose . . .

Dr Bittner left a message on his clinic’s website on November 20 to tell clients he was moving to South America to volunteer at a small clinic “where I can help those most in need.”

We are in fear of a McBush win because America's downward spiral of world opinion towards us, our economy, or ethical and moral values, our morale as a nation under siege by neocon intelligence gathering goons at the NSA and Homeland security needs to stop and McBush has vowed to continue Bush's attack on all of us through his shredding of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Mark Steyn: Grandma Got Over At The Press Club
merrie
by merrie  5-4-2008    5
as the real deal. With less impressionable types, such as voters, Senator Obama is having a tougher time. The Philly speech is emblematic of his most pressing problem: the gap — indeed, full-sized canyon — that’s opening up between the rhetorical magic and the reality. That’s the difference between a simulacrum and a genuinely great speech. The gaseous platitudes of hope and change and unity no longer seem to fit the choices of Obama’s adult life. Oddly enough, the shrewdest appraisal of the Senator’s speechifying “magic” came from Jeremiah Wright himself. “He’s a politician,” said the Reverend. “He says what he has to say as a politician… He does what politicians do.” The notion that the Amazing Obama might be just another politician doing what politicians do seems to have affronted the senator more than any of the stuff about America being no different from al-Qaeda and the government inventing AIDs to kill black people.

Is stripping a First Amendment right?
swampfoxz
by swampfoxz  4-8-2008    1
Let's recap: The lawmakers pushing this sin tax don't believe strip-club goers actually contribute to sexual violence, just that they objectify women by watching them dance topless. So, the reasoning goes, they should help fund sexual assault programs, since they have -- what? -- furthered the devaluing of women as human beings within our culture by treating them as sex objects (or supporting a business that does). If that's seriously the argument being made here, applied consistently, the question isn't who would be taxed but who wouldn't?
