POPSAnother Minority & Female Gets Power Position in USA
This clip isn't about the WASP-M getting appointed to be the U.S. Ambassador to China. (WASP-M = White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant - Male) No, today it was announced the USA is going to get a black, female doctor as it's Surgeon General, head health person. On this same day a Hispanic female started her hearings, process to be approved as one of the nation's most important judges. The things that strikes me about these appointments (including the WASP-M) is how qualified all these people are, all almost like superstars in their field and/or with a real-world resume of skills and accomplishments. I see this too in the black woman who is now our U.N. Ambassador, the black man who now heads our space agency, NASA and the black male Attorney General, the nation's head prosecutor. The white woman now head of Homeland Security and the one now in charge of Health and Human Service also same - both past governors. And some woman name Hillary as Sec. of State. It's less preju

POPSUnderstanding the Age of Obama 3. The Private Sector. Nationalizing much of the auto and financial industries, while regulating executive compensation, is an indication of our new government's repeatedly stated reluctance to interfere in the private sector. 4. Race and Gender. Not what is said but who says it and about whom reveals racism and sexism. For example, an Hispanic female judge isn't being offensive if she states that Latinas are inherently better judges than white males. 5. Random violence. Some assassinations represent larger American pathologies, but others do not. When a crazed lone gunman murders someone outside the Holocaust Museum or shoots an abortion doctor, we should worry about growing right-wing and Christian extremism. But when an African-American Muslim convert brags about his murder of a military recruitment officer or an Islamic group plots to kill Jews and blow up a military jet, these are largely isolated incidents without larger relevance.

POPSMr. Roller Derby This article reminds me of roller skating every weekend with peers. The girls would hang on one side of the rink with the music blasting waiting for the boys to pick a girl from the line-up--how awful for those girls who let others define their attractiveness in that way! But we had sooooo much fun---and I loved the combination of sports, female bonding, and the mystique of the opposite sex :)

POPSrape London's West End, Croydon Crown Court - ohn Worboys is accused of using date rape drugs dissolved in champagne to "stupefy" his victims before attacking them in the back of his cab. A doctor from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Denis Mukwege, has said all sides have "declared women their common enemy". "African of the Year" is a title given for the first time by Nigerian newspaper the Daily Trust, equalling $20,000 (£13,700). His clinic receives an average of 10 new patients every day. The Panzi hospital helps women with the physical and psychological injuries after being attacked. It also provides help for women who have contracted HIV/Aids from their attackers. POPSAnorgasmia - 30 to 50% of women have frequent difficulty reaching orgasm
There are two kinds of anorgasmia: primary anorgasmia, in which orgasm has never been attained, and secondary anorgasmia, where the patient has orgasmed in the past but either can't at all anymore or can only reach her climax in specific cases, such as through masturbation. Chances are that if you or your partner suffers from either form of anorgasmia, there are several treatments to consider. The root to treating the dysfunction is to find out what's causing it. It's advisable to see your doctor so that they can rule out any form of illness that may be at fault, in the case of both primary and secondary anorgasmia. Once anything medical has been ruled out, it's on to other forms of diagnosis and treatment. Similarly, if a bad past experience is to blame, such as sexual abuse, then counselling may be something to consider. Only 30% of women regularly orgasm through intercourse. Many women need stimulation to the genitals, particularly the clitoris, through manual or oral means.

POPS"Mad, Bad and Sad"
If male doctors conspired to define madness, responding to behaviors that flouted the social conventions of their culture, female patients, in the attempt to understand themselves and their context, and maybe even to create or bolster identity, colluded with those same doctors to satisfy the changing definitions of madness. “Often enough,” Appignanesi notes, “extreme expressions of the culture’s malaise, symptoms and disorders mirrored the time’s order.” While “Mad, Bad and Sad” echoes and enlarges upon Elaine Showalter’s book “The Female Malady: Women, Madness, and English Culture, 1830-1980,” Showalter’s perspective is more exclusively feminist, arguing that psychiatry as practiced on women is a history of their subjugation and control by men. But as Appignanesi makes clear, women have had no little role in creating and fulfilling the definitions of their madness.<< "Mad, Bad and Sad: A History of Women and the Mind Doctors from 1800 to the Present" by Lisa Appignanesi.

POPSSex Ladies Spill he Beans on 'Clients' The naval lieutenant used the alias Renee during her six months of sex work for the service. She was one of 12 former prostitutes to testify this week. "It was getting hard for me to keep doing it … I didn't like it," she told the jury yesterday. Burton later produced an email the officer sent Palfrey six months after quitting the service, asking the madam if she still needed help. "I needed the money," she explained ruefully. She has since been placed on leave by the military. Like the other former call girls who testified, and like Dupre in the Spitzer case, the naval officer was granted legal immunity in exchange for her testimony. But the former prostitutes are required to use their real names in court -- relaying intimate details such as Palfrey's insistence that they have sex during menstruation. ...Guardian
