Obama Approves Giving at Least $30 Billion more to Israel
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  12-24-2009    1
The budget also pledges $500 million in American aid to the Fatah Party’s Palestinian Authority. This aid is contingent on certain requirements, including that the group recognize Israel. This funding is distinct from any funding the CIA may give the Palestinian Authority’s security forces, which would be secret. So the money goes from the taxpayer, to Israel and then back into the pockets of the US military industrial complex. What a sweet set up, eh? *Capitalism* at it's finest. They must be laughing all the way to the bank. *LOL* $30 Billion. Cough up, bend over and smile, USA. .:)

Israel has at least 150 atomic weapons: Carter
foxyarse
by foxyarse  9-23-2009    3
Greatest crime on earth In his speech Carter described Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip as "one of the greatest human rights crimes now existing on Earth." "There is no reason to treat these people this way," he said referring to the blockade, in place since the Islamist Hamas movement seized Gaza in June 2007. According to Carter, the failure of the European Union to support the Palestinian cause was "embarrassing." He said European countries should be "encouraging the formation of a unity government," including Hamas and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas's rival Fatah movement. Carter was president from 1977 to 1981. During that time, he helped negotiate a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt and concluded a strategic arms agreement with the Soviet Union.

Why Israeli Jew Uri Davis joined Fatah to save Palestine
ratilfar
by ratilfar  8-24-2009    2
So what does Davis believe, and why? His father was a British Jew who met his mother, a Czech, in British Mandatory Palestine in the mid-1930s, where they married in 1939, four years before his birth. While his mother escaped the transports to the gas chambers at Auschwitz, many in her family did not. It is a familiar story in Israel. But the lesson that Davis learnt from it was different from the vast majority of Jews who concluded that never again could Jews depend on others to guarantee their security from persecution. "An important part of the education that I received from my parents," Davis recalled last week, "was never to generalise. To beware of every sentence that begins with 'all'. It was not 'all' Germans who killed my mother's family. It was some Nazis." Another distinction was emphasised by his mother. "If she heard the suggestion of vengeance, she would be horrified. She sought justice. One of the biggest problems addressing a Zionist audience is that the distinction

OK...someone please tell me how Israel is suppose to have a *peace plan* with these people...whether Fatah or Hamas. They can't!!! Why won't those who make-believe that there can be peace among those people in that little section of land take the Arabs at their word?! And as soon as Iran gets their nukes going, where do you think will be the first place they'll be sent? Oh, and isn't "sacrifice" and "victims" and oxymoron?

Katz: Fatah 'plan' is declaration of war
jatfla
by jatfla  8-2-2009    4
"...if peace talks fail"? They always fail because Fatah has not honored one portion of any so-called peace plan of the past. They want the Jews *gone*! And they (along with Hamas and their allies) are nibbling bit by bit. Almost a billion dollars of our tax money is heading to the PA. Whose hands do you believe that money will fall into? Bibi needs to tell Fatah, Hamas, this current Administration and the State Dept that there will be no more talks, phone calls, emails..... There have been no serious efforts on the Arabs part to live in harmony with the Israelis in the region. Major portions of the world have chosen sides; even the US is divided over whose cause is the the most just. The day of reckoning is fast approaching.

Hamas Fails to Kidnap Israeli Soldiers in Major Assault From Gaza
merrie
by merrie  6-8-2009    1
in the Nahal Oz sector with mortars. Israeli tanks and helicopters struck back. At Nir Oz, Israel helicopters fired missiles at the sources of Palestinian fire, causing casualties. DEBKAfile's military sources report that the rejectionist Palestinians who rule Gaza have held back from major armed assaults on this scale since Israel's Gaza offensive ended in six months ago. Our sources say they were stirred into action Monday by one non-event and two events: 1. They planned to show the flag for a victorious Hizballah and mark Hamas-Hizballah solidarity by kidnapping a number of Israeli soldiers (after holding Gilead Shalit for more than three years). As it turned out Hizballah was defeated, contrary to all expectations, and Hamas failed to abduct any Israeli soldiers, none of whom were lost or injured. 2. US Middle East envoy George Mitchell arrives in Israel and the Palestinian Authority Monday, June 9.

No surprise here other than that it's being reported. It's not only Israelis that Hamas seeks to kill; it's anyone who doesn't agree with them. As long as Hamas controls Gaza and has such a huge foothold in the area...there will be no peace. I wouldn't hold my breath with Fatah either.

And on Thursday, after a Palestinian terrorist used an axe to murder a 13-year-old Jewish boy, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - a wing of the "moderate" Fatah party - issued a statement claiming responsibility. There is no appeasing such hatred, and demonizing those who say so will not change that fact. "If you want peace, prepare for war." How refreshing to hear an Israeli foreign minister say so.

Is Ismail Haniyeh the new Fidel Castro? Is another stooge about to bit the dust? Have the Zionist got their wish to have no Palestinian leaders that they can deal with? Was this foreseeable outcome part of the 'big plan' all along to have no Palestinian partner in peace? As the Zionists are now lead by fascists worse than the Nazis they have obliterated any Palestinian voices that were not Hamas or Fatah.

This story is even more distressing in that a movement to try and place a proper marker/memorial( in place of the number 774) on her grave has been met with both a stunning refusal from her family (also her executioners) and, of course, spineless bs spouted by the ongoing fear based 'DHIMMITUDE ' that continues to plague supposed 'civilized nations' worldwide. 'Our only language with the Jew is through the gun'
merrie
by merrie  1-3-2009    2
Hamas leaders have largely disappeared since Israel launched its operations but Rayan was known for openly defying the country. The army said he had a tunnel under his house that could serve as an escape route. He was one of the organisers behind the Battle of Gaza in 2007, in which 400 Palestinian Fatah party members were killed and dozens more tortured and maimed. A Hamas spokesman alleged that the Palestinian National Authority may have asked Israel to kill him because of his role in the clashes. He added that the chief was one of the main reasons why many of Mahmoud Abbas's men 'did not sleep well at night'. Rayan was fundamentally against the state of Israel and had declared: 'There is nothing called Israel, neither in reality nor in the imagination.' Israeli defence officials confirmed a one-ton bomb was used to attack Rayan's home, and that weapons stored inside set off secondary explosions.

Hamas Members Stopped With Suitcases Stuffed With $15 Million
merrie
by merrie  2-6-2009
The incident is a sensitive one for Egypt, particularly now when Israel is demanding a halt to Hamas smuggling into Gaza as part of truce negotiations. Israel complains that Hamas - which gets funding from Iran, Syria and donations from supporters - smuggles money and weapons through Egypt into the Gaza Strip. Mostly the smuggling is done through tunnels at the border. But in the past - before border crossings were tightly sealed in 2007 - Hamas officials had brought in cash as well. In 2006, a senior Hamas official bragged about successfully carrying $42 million across the border. Arab banks have generally refused to transfer money to Gaza for fear of running afoul of the United States, which considers Hamas a terrorist organisation Hamas demands that any truce include the full opening of borders into Gaza, which Israel and Egypt have largely kept sealed since Hamas seized control of the territory from Palestinian rivals Fatah in 2007.

Israel JMCC Poll: Hamas Consolidates Power in WEST BANK

In Gaza, the poll put Hamas at 28% against 33.6% for Abbas's Fatah. In the West Bank, the poll gave Hamas 29% support against 24.5% for Fatah. The balance was shared by a countless of smaller parties. The pollsters surveyed a sample of 1,198 people, 758 in the West Bank and 440 in Gaza. It gave a margin of error of 3%. The poll also found that Hamas premier Ismail Haneya, who was deposed after his movement's takeover of Gaza, is the most trusted Palestinian politician with 21.1% support, far ahead of the current President Abbas with 13.4%.

Haaretz: "utter failure for Israel", Hamas stronger!!!
ratcatcher2
by ratcatcher2  1-25-2009
We have not weakened Hamas. The vast majority of its combatants were not harmed and popular support for the organization has in fact increased. Their war has intensified the ethos of resistance and determined endurance. A country which has nursed an entire generation on the ethos of a few versus should know to appreciate that by now. There was no doubt as to who was David and who was Goliath in this war. The fourth objective, which remained undeclared, was not met either. The IDF has not restored its capability. It couldn't have, not in a quasi-war against a miserable and poorly-equipped organization relying on makeshift weapons, whose combatants barely put up a fight. If anyone was weakened because of this war, it was Fatah, whose fleeing from Gaza and its abandonment have now been given special significance. The succession of failures in this war needs to includ the failure of the siege policy. For a while, we have already come to realize that is ineffective.

The Tunnel Kings Of Gaza
merrie
by merrie  1-21-2009    1
through underground tunnels. "In those days we smugglers were regarded as bandits, as criminals," says Abu Hisham as he hands out sweet tea. The gun trade has slumped since Hamas won the power struggle in the Gaza Strip. It's hard to make money with guns because the arsenals of the radical Palestinian organisations are plentifully stocked. That view is backed up by the assessment of international observers. "We're respected because we provide people with what they need to live," says Abu Hisham." These days, he says, every little boy wants to become a smuggler. Some 750 tunnels have been dug under the border. The figure is known pretty exactly because the Rafah town council decided it wanted a piece of the action and last month forced all the tunnelers to register and start paying a tax of €2,000 per tunnel per year. A normal tunnel is 800 to 1,400 meters long, says Abu Hisham. On the Palestinian side they are usually dug from ruined buildings or equipment sheds.
