POPSDeath Book for Veterans If President Obama is sincere in stating that he is not trying to cut costs by pressuring the disabled to forgo critical care, one good way to show that commitment is to walk two blocks from the Oval Office and pull the plug on "Your Life, Your Choices." He should make sure in the future that VA decisions are guided by values that treat the lives of our veterans as gifts, not burdens. Mr. Towey, president of Saint Vincent College, was director of the White House Office of Faith-Based Initiatives (2002-2006) and founder of the nonprofit Aging with Dignity.

POPSFaith Based Economics Just forget all of those people who make a living at looking at balance sheets, cost projections, and legislative analysis — trust us! For a party that screeched about returning science to its “rightful place” in policymaking, they seem highly enamored of tarot cards and entrail-reading when it comes to their own fiscal policies. The Obama administration and the Democrats have yet to learn that one cannot spend their way back into solvency. We already have government programs for medical care that don’t work. If Congress wants to overhaul Medicare/Medicaid to make it financially viable, the VA to make it responsive, and Indian Health Service to make it do anything for its consumers, that would be enough for any Congress to do.

POPSGood For You Masbury Often when others speak out for social justice they become targeted and when that happens you know you are doing something right ;) Some so-called Christians are so fearful of loving the world they often confuse it with "worldliness". Mas is one of those rare individuals who realizes that morality doesn't mean doctrinal beliefs. He understands the difference between right and wrong. He realizes that a moral compass does not have to be faith-based to be real. He is a true Christian because he realizes and speaks out for fairness and justice. He realizes that God is not as small or mean as some others would have us believe. He realizes God does not hate or discriminate. He does not believe that some Americans are better than others and that God cares only about sex. So Bravo! Mas. We need more people like you in the world. :)

A “czar.” So, why stop at 25-30 czars? Why not appoint a bunch more: * Gaffe Czar: Joe Biden. Sure, he’s vice-president, but he’s already doing the job of Gaffe Czar; why not make it official? * News Czar: Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf. You knew him as “Baghdad Bob.” He’d fit right in with this Administration. And it would give Robert Gibbs a break from having to make up explanations for things all by himself. * Anti-semitism Czar: Jeremiah Wright. He’s already promoting anti-semitism as much as anyone is this country. This would give him a larger platform. * Fashion Czar: Michelle Obama. Remember Jackie Kennedy? Michelle Obama is equally qualified. Except for having poor taste in clothes. And men. Previously, we’ve had Drug Czars, Energy Czars, and so on. But, Barack Obama has gone Czar crazy.

POPSPrivilege and Oppression A thoughtful article about the notion of Christian privilege and using this to justify anti-gay prejudice. And before some get their pitchforks out, no, it doesn't apply to all Christians. But there is a sizable chunk of Christians who probably do hold these views.

“Dad, I did not know that Jesus was a muslim”. I asked her what brought the issue up and she directed my attention to an advertisement on the side of a Broward County transit bus. The advertisement read, “Islam: The way of life for Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad”, utterly disturbing. It is disturbing because it is historically, and therefore, factually incorrect, but most of all the offensive nature caused me the greatest concern. One has to ask, who gave the permission for such an advertisement to be allowed on public transportation, and at Christmas? Who provided the funding which purchased the advertisement? This advertisement is no different from the Hamas rockets that fall upon southern Israel, just that it is a non-kinetic, “stealth” jihad attack. It is disinformation being used to undermine the national character we have as a Judeo-Christian faith based Nation. And yes, we are a Judeo-Christian faith based Nation . . . .
