POPSVolcano erupts in Congo The wildlife authority said the Nyamuragira eruption was likely to destroy habitat for 40 chimpanzees on the volcano's lower slopes. Virunga National Park is also home to 200 endangered mountain gorillas, but they live on the slopes of the Mikena volcano to the east of Nyamuragira. The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History calls Nyamuragira the continent's most active volcano, with 42 eruptions since 1885. Its most recent eruption ended in December 2006.

POPSPilots warns against knee-jerk reaction to terrorism Well, what an amazing article! Pilots are concerned about 'knee-jerk reactions"? I would think they would be among the first to take this continuing AND accelerating tactic more seriously. Of course, they don't want the flying-public to be frightened away from flying for many reasons; especially financial. He speaks of "heightened security measures"...how about implementing those that are already in place? And most revolting is when this person asks the idiotic question concerning what the flying-public should expect from it's security workers!!!! "Minimal wages" are an excuse for sloppy, inefficient, lack, non-existent, irresponsible work performance??!!! Amazing.

POPSNorthwest Flight 253: An al-Qaeda Linked Attempted Act of Terror according to a law enforcement official. The suspect told authorities that he had explosive powder taped to his leg and used a syringe of chemicals to mix with the powder that was to cause explosion. This is of concert because it is a method of mixing that is consistent with terror techniques. The suspect traveled from Nigeria to Amsterdam and then Detroit. Fortunately, the man suffered second-degree burns, consistent with fireworks or low-level explosives. The Airbus A330-300, a twin-engine jet, was carrying 278 passengers. POPSThe Rich Rule Over The Poor The rich rule over the poor, And the borrower is the slave of the lender. (Proverbs 22:7 ESV) And so it goes. King George and his band of bandits got us into this mess with conservatives cheering him along every step of the way while he created a mountain of new federal debt, the largest contributors to which were Bush's tax breaks for the rich. Their hero of the hour shamelessly exploited 9/11, fear and the "war on terror" as a pretext to take the ax to civil liberties and to shroud their policies and actions in secrecy. So don't cry me a river now and cloak it with a biblical quote. You are the ones who wanted to mythify Bush as a great leader--pull your crap out on someone else who is idiotic enough to believe in it, but don't pretend you can cash in to God's love by supporting benefits that go to the wealthiest of Americans and contradict the message of Jesus of serving the poor. It's disgusting and so are you.

POPSKennedy on the Effects of EMP Attack Think about this scenario: An ordinary-looking freighter ship heading toward New York or Los Angeles launches a missile from its hull or from a canister lowered into the sea. It hits a densely populated area. A million people are incinerated. The ship is then sunk. No one claims responsibility. There is no firm evidence as to who sponsored the attack, and thus no one against whom to launch a counterstrike. But as terrible as that scenario sounds, there is one that is worse. Let us say the freighter ship launches a nuclear-armed Shahab-3 missile off the coast of the U.S. and the missile explodes 300 miles over Chicago. The nuclear detonation in space creates an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Gamma rays from the explosion, through the Compton Effect, generate three classes of disruptive electromagnetic pulses, which permanently destroy consumer electronics, the electronics in some automobiles and, most importantly ......

POPSSpectacular Sea Eruption Filmed -- Deepest Ever
One of the lead scientists called it, an underwater Fourth of July. Images show large molten lava bubbles about three feet across; glowing red vents ejecting lava into the sea, and lava flows across the seafloor. This West Mata volcano stands more than a mile high off the ocean floor. Its eruptive area is about the length of a football field. It is producing Boninite lavas, believed to be among the hottest erupting on Earth in modern times. Researchers believe they have a unique chance to study magma formation and how the Earth recycles material where tectonic plates slide against each other. A microbiologist on the team found diverse microbes in the extreme conditions, and they observed a small species of shrimp thriving. Its believed to be the same shrimp species found at eruptive sites more than 3,000 miles away. Mission scientists believe 80 percent of eruptive activity on Earth occurs in the ocean, and most volcanoes are in the deep sea.

POPSBlue Whale ‘Song of Death’ Warns World of 2012 Catastrophe But to what Western scientists are now noting to their puzzlingly alarm as to the changing of the Blue Whales song the World over, the Yupik shamans first noted during a 2002 meeting in Yanrakynnot, Russia when in examining the ‘strange portents’ occurring throughout the Arctic Regions of our Planet warned that only 10 years were left before the ‘Time of the Great Ending’ was upon us all again.

POPSSecret Document Exposes Iran’s Nuclear Trigger
In September, Iran was forced to admit that it was constructing a secret uranium enrichment facility near the city of Qom. President Ahmadinejad then claimed that he wanted to build ten such sites. Over the weekend Manouchehr Mottaki, the Iranian Foreign Minister, said that Iran needed up to 15 nuclear power plants to meet its energy needs, despite the country’s huge oil and gas reserves. Mark Fitzpatrick, senior fellow for non-proliferation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, said: “The most shattering conclusion is that, if this was an effort that began in 2007, it could be a casus belli. If Iran is working on weapons, it means there is no diplomatic solution.” The Times had the documents, which were originally written in Farsi, translated into English and had the translation separately verified by two Farsi speakers. While much of the language is technical, it is clear that the Iranians are intent on concealing their nuclear military

POPSRussia says terror attack most likely cause of train crash President Dmitry Medvedev called for calm over the incident. "We need there to be no chaos, because the situation is tense as it is," he told Russian TV. Government officials last night said investigators had found a 1 metre crater under the rails. Reuters reported today that its reporters at the scene had been unable to see it. Earlier, Russian news agencies had quoted transport officials as saying the cause may have been an electrical fault. According to the radio station Echo of Moscow, a far-right group opposed to migrants from the former Soviet republics of central Asia has claimed responsibility for the crash, which has delayed 27,000 passengers. The Kremlin is likely to blame Islamist extremists waging a guerrilla campaign in the north Caucasus. Rebel fighters have carried out numerous attacks in recent months, including suicide bombings, in an apparent attempt to establish an Islamic caliphate in the region.
