Detroit Pistons Org. Gives Help To Military Families
sahara
by sahara  11-22-2009
"There is a lot of support for families where someone is deployed, but service people at home don't get the same help," Schroeder said. "We are here to help them." The food distribution was in conjunction with the Pistons Military Salute to be held at 7:30 tonight during the game against the Charlotte Bobcats at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The Pistons are to salute those who have served or are serving in all branches of the U.S. military. Current members or veterans are to receive free tickets while their families can go to the game for $11 a person. In March, the Pistons raised more than $450,000 during the 17-hour 2009 Pistons Care Marathon in support of Feed The Children. Since the telethon, the organization has distributed 25,000 aid boxes throughout the state, including Lansing, Pontiac, Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo.

Memory Lane: An Ongoing Series for Obamacrat Demagogues
merrie
by merrie  8-15-2009    1
Yesterday I noted that DNC "chairman emeritus" Howard Dean was coming to Ohio tomorrow to rally the SEIU and OEA union mafia in support of Obamafail at their Columbus hq. The event flier advertised that event as "open to the public". Well, SEIU didn't appreciate my advertising their "open to the public" event, so they are now requiring tickets for entry, which they have dutifully passed out to their union mafia allies for distribution. Don't worry about trying to get a ticket though. The SEIU website now says that your only hope to participate is to watch the event on their website. So much for "open to the public". http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/198475.php

Witches claim religious discrimination after church ban
wiccantexan
by wiccantexan  6-17-2009    2
Pagan events in public places are generally pretty open about what they're about. Did the church not notice this before booking them? If nothing else, it's bad business practice and the church should help them find a new venue.

Congress's Travel Tab Swells
merrie
by merrie  7-2-2009
Spending on Taxpayer-Funded Trips Rises Tenfold; From Italy to the Galápagos Lawmakers frequently bring along spouses on congressional trips. If they take commercial flights, they have to buy tickets for spouses. If they fly on government planes -- as they usually do -- their spouses can fly free. Paris Air Show In mid-June, Sen. Daniel Inouye (D., Hawaii) led a group of a half-dozen senators and their spouses on a four-day trip to France for the biennial Paris Air Show. An itinerary for the event shows that lawmakers flew on the Air Force's version of the Boeing 737, which costs $5,700 an hour to operate. They stayed at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand Hotel, which advertises rooms from $460 a night. The lawmakers were invited to a dinner party at the U.S. Embassy and had cocktails at a private party at the Eiffel Tower. Mr. Inouye attended a dinner sponsored by the Aerospace Industries Association, a U.S. trade group. Another senator on the trip, Alabama Republican Sen. Ri

Homosexual Families invited to the White House Easter Egg Roll
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  4-9-2009
Good news. Married and unmarried homosexuals and their children have been invited to the annual easter egg roll held at the White House. It must be exciting for the children to get to hunt the eggs on the grounds of the White House and to meet the First Family. It's the kind of good childhood memory a child isn't likely to forget and a great time for parents to bond with their children. How could anyone find this somehow sinister?

Pre$idential Inauguration, Not Much "Change" There
sahara
by sahara  1-19-2009    1
The Four Seasons Georgetown (up to $75,000 for a minimum five-night stay), the Ritz-Carlton (up to $60,000 for a minimum five-night stay) and other top hotels say they have been booked for weeks, even months. The Four Seasons is using the inauguration to introduce its new Royal Suite – a 4,000-square-foot, "bullet-resistant" suite featuring a landscaped terrace, exercise room, library and dining room. A hotel spokeswoman confirmed a guest had booked the suite for the inauguration. The Ritz-Carlton sold a "Politically Correct" package for $50,000, which includes four nights in one of the hotel's suites; two hard-to-come-by seats at the inaugural parade; two tickets to an inaugural ball; a luxury hybrid vehicle with chauffeur on call 24 hours a day; a ball gown and tuxedo from Saks Fifth Avenue; a private in-suite dinner for two at the hotel's restaurant, and more, including a special, inauguration-themed pendant of gold, diamonds, rubies and sapphires valued at $8,000.

A million rally to Chicgo to celebrate Obama Victory?
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-4-2008    3
In four hours the polls close and the level of excitement is building beyond belief and anyone's experience. Some have said there will be a million people going to Chicago for election night madness and celebration. 70,000 tickets to Obama's planned Victory Speech at Grant Park were gone in a hour. All fireman are on call. All police are on call and both told the have their max equipment on hand. Hospitals too have beefed up staff. Secret Service protection measures also to the max. It's reasonable to expect 'mischief,' or something in a probably the largest crowd gathered for a political event in U.S. history. But - Republicans are continuing their smear tactics to the very end, saying their are worries about black riots if Obama loses, etc., hitting the stereotype of blacks as criminals and threats -- instead of voters. We'' need to 'purify,' ourselves after this election; then move forward. Goosebumps . Jitters.. YouTube report: http://www.youtube.com/watch

With Republican running so far behind the Democratic Party in fundraising, it's no wonder the $150,000 spent on Sarah Palin's wardrobe caused a big fuss. However, the GOP has been making a lot of questionable purchases including a thousand 11-ounce chocolate elephants.

The Presidential Candidates and The "Experience Issue"
merrie
by merrie  9-2-2008
The line McCain’s been using “He’s Not Ready to Lead” is still viable – and should emphasize a discussion of Obama’s policies, not his job history—his radicalism, not his resume. Meanwhile, we should invite comparisons of Governor Palin’s experience with Obama’s: won’t the PTA connect more with middle class voters than “community organizer,” and property tax-cutting small town mayor count more than slippery State Senator who voted “present” a disquieting proportion of the time. In any event, both tickets now balance experience with youthful energy – but McCain is balancing it the right way, with the experience at the top. If Obama supporters now see an opening for attack in regard to Sarah Palin’s “lack” of experience, they will only succeed in bringing back to scrutiny Obama’s own leadership (in)experience. Let’s see that “Tale of the Tape” chart that Curt linked to by Jeff Emanuel, http://www.floppingaces.net/2008/08/30/palin-not-the-most-inexperienced/

W's Protest Manual: Conservative Treason.
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  8-22-2007    9
The manual demonstrates "that the White House has a policy of excluding and/or attempting to squelch dissenting viewpoints from presidential events," said ACLU lawyer Jonathan Miller. "Individuals should have the right to express their opinion to the president, even if it's not a favorable one." "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt
