POPSThe Year of Living Fecklessly by Charles Krauthammer
Why is this so important? Because revolutions succeed at that singular moment, that imperceptible historical inflection, when the people, and particularly those in power, realize that the regime has lost the mandate of heaven. With this weakening dictatorship desperate for affirmation, why is the U.S. repeatedly offering just such affirmation? Apart from ostracizing and delegitimizing these gangsters, we should be encouraging and reinforcing the demonstrators. This is no trivial matter. When pursued, beaten, arrested and imprisoned, dissidents can easily succumb to feelings of despair and isolation. Natan Sharansky testifies to the electric effect Ronald Reagan's Evil Empire speech had on lifting spirits in the Gulag. The news was spread cell to cell in code tapped on the walls. They knew they weren't alone, that America was committed to their cause. Yet so aloof has Obama been that on Hate America Day (Nov. 4, the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran)

POPSQualitative Research: Using Technology in Class This is a wonderful example of what I like to see, a reprise of a qualitative study into the uses of technology in the regular progression of improving students' use of technology while teaching class at the college level. Any teacher could use Ed Webb's protocol and replicate this research in their class. A teacher could even expand on this research by giving a formal pre-post test of technology skills and an interest inventory. Using Google Forms, a teacher could easily present the tests and survey (inventory).

POPSTime Mag On Why Obama's Iran Effort Failed ~ Tony Karon ….. Prize winning Mohammed Elbaradei? I’m being flip, but really what is the point of blaming the pressure on “skeptics” if the poster boy for Iranian anti-skepticism is now questioning their ambitions? Why not rather say that there is near universal agreement on Iranian intentions in the wake of the discovery of a secret processing site, Iran’s announcement of plans to build more similar sites, and the fact that they’ve been working secretly on nuclear detonators. How did all that stay out of this story?! Anyway, we’ve come to the key graph where the reasons for failure will all become clear: So how did Obama, for all his game-changing intentions, end up inheriting Bush’s Iran stalemate? Two key factors have combined to scupper his diplomatic efforts: Iran’s domestic political year of living dangerously…

POPS When the Charm Rubs Off
denigration of his predecessor, aka "the last eight years." (Blighted by "a triumphant sense about war.") When Attorney General Eric Holder announced that five accused terrorists would be tried in federal courts, he said: "After eight years of delay. ..." When the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force made the controversial recommendation that women should get fewer mammograms, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said: "This panel was appointed by the prior administration, by former President George Bush." In congressional testimony, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner almost deviated from the script. He said the Obama administration began after "almost a decade" -- slight pause -- "certainly eight years of basic neglect." Abroad, the fruits of the president's policy of "engagement" have been meager: Witness Iran continuing its nuclear program and China being difficult about carbon emissions. Here is a history lesson for an administration which .....

POPSBA must be mad! Would you want to fly with an airline with so many unhappy employees? I wouldn't want to be a 30,000 ft. with people who had been forced back to work.

POPSThe Evolution of A New Trust Economy I have re-clipped Wildcat's finding, so I can tag it into our '1-self signifying' collection See tags on www.openintelligence.amplify.com. (I do so wish that Categories and Tags would be on Amplify's Newsfeed page.) I also emphasised the sCRM angle, as I wote a report a few years ago, called Beyond CRM which was about a new "buyer centric" economy.

POPSSend cakes to India during occasions Though preparations at home go awry, more often than not, a relative abroad orders cakes to India, via some online gifting company, thanks to her uncanny ability to sniff out the on goings in our household (thank God for that!). And trust me, the cake that this lady sends in fact becomes a major-talking point in the household, because it is not only tastefully done, but also beautifully captures the spirit of Christmas. Have you heard of cakes casting a spell?

POPS'You Must Recognize That Our Most Vital Institutions Are Under Attack'
* Armed Forces: The prosecution of Navy SEALs who bloodied a prisoner's nose; • Secret Service: The gatecrashers and the subsequent (and perhaps unfair) accusations that the Secret Service failed to do its job; • Armed Forces: Dithering, lack of interest, change of rules of engagement...; • Our Allies: Honduras, Poland, Columbia, Tibet, Taiwan, Britain (treatment of the Queen, brusque handling of Gordon Brown, the return of Churchill's bust, the DVD collection 'gift'), lack of support for Iranian protesters...; • Taxpayers: Average U.S. citizens, especially seniors, are demonized when they protest outrageous deficits, government-run "one-size-fits-all" health care, an all-powerful 'Health Choices Commissioner', and a politicization of medical treatment itself; protesters are characterized as crazy and dangerous with a DHS report issued warning of right-wing threats; • The Rule of Law - no DOJ or White House response to SEIU intimidation and beatings (see Kenneth Gladney)

POPSA Lawrence of Arabia Solution for Afghanistan? Go to Netflix or where ever you get films - rent Larence of Arabia and watch it as if you were looking for ideas of how to create a success out of Afghanistan. Not a bad idea but remember that - in the end - the Imperialists got the upper hand and that today, we are still paying the price.
