POPSEnergetic Medicine Research (healing devices and links) Homeopathy Who started it? Homeopathy extends at least as far back as the Ancient Greeks, the modern "father of homeopathy" was the German physician Samuel Hahnemann, who began outlining his theories of "medical similars" in a series of articles and monographs in 1796. How does it work? Homeopathic remedies are "succussed," or shaken vigorously with each dilution to increase their vibratory field. They are thought to work by stimulating the body's own healing energy, rather like a tuning fork that sets disharmonious chords back on track. Homeopathic remedies consist of minute does of natural substances - mineral, plant or animal, that if given to healthy people in large does would cause the symptoms the patient is experiencing. The principle is similar to that of pharmaceutical vaccination, but vaccines are macromolecules that can induce unwanted side effects.

POPSIs the Wi-Fi revolution a health time bomb? The answer to the title appears to be yes. A very interesting article of which I have only clipped a little. Another article from the independent focuses more on wi-fi, where as this one looks at EMR generally.

POPSWi-Fi: Children at risk from 'electronic smog' I has this debate with the rest of the IT team at my company last year (I am an IT consultant). Companies see the cost savings of not using physical wired network - no wire cost, and no eletrician cost to put in the cabling - and really don't want to know anything about the health effects of RF radiation. Humans are electrical beings because cells are electrical, and the nervous system is too. It seems obvious that EMR would have potentially negative effects on humans, and jumping on to Wi-Fi without examining any ill-effects is stupid IMO. There is massive money backing the Mobile and Wi-Fi industry, because it is a huge money earner, so I wouldn't expect anything to be done any time soon.

POPSThe Unexplained mystery of The Taos Hum... "Some possible explanations Man-made noises As sound moves through the atmosphere or ground, the high frequencies decrease in amplitude more rapidly than the low frequency ones, which subsequently travel greater distances. The low-frequency sounds can be focused by walls and structural geometry, and sound like ambiguous rumblings or hums. Industrial machinery such as compressors, pumps and fans can also produce similar types of sounds. Although this is one of the explanations that first come to mind, ordinary microphones have failed to detect the Hum and investigations have failed to convincingly trace the Hum to such sources. Studies in the UK have addressed this issue". infrasound made by geological events Infrasound from different possible sources, possibly geologic or plate tectonic in nature.

POPSTop 10 New World-Changing Innovations of the Year 2008 Breakthrough Awards /// The Innovators The early 20th century produced a breathtaking succession of innovations—the Wright Flyer, the Model T, the Panama Canal. It was a golden age of engineering. A century hence, observers may well look back at our era in much the same way: Cars are being reimagined from the wheels up. Advances in solar energy show the way past fossil fuels. And space probes explore planets that could become our future homes. These pages salute the innovators who are inventing the future. Welcome to the new golden age.

POPSAncient Egyptian Electricity continues: Another key element for the electro-thesis is actually something that is missing. It's a riddle where schoolbook science is capitulating. Soot. In none of the many thousands of subterranean tombs and pyramid shafts was found a single trace of soot, as we are told by the authors of the electro-thesis, although many of these tombs are full of often colourful paintings. But the primitive light sources the Egyptians knew (candles, oil lamps etc.) are always leaving soot and are using oxygen. So how DID the Egyptians get their light? Some rationalists are arguing with mirrors, but the quality of the copper plates the Egyptians used as mirrors were not good enough for that.

POPSElectro-Magnetic Skyscrapers
In this futuristic scenario controlled Electro Magnetic force (E.M.) will be a key element in the building industry. This controlled E.M. force will free humanity from the need to waste our planet resources by making the E.M. technology the ultimate sustainable method. E.M. Structures will be able to support each other simply by pure physical magnetism that can also direct electricity. By using magnetic fields as a construction material there can be Infinite vertical and horizontal expansions due to the final liberation from gravity. Tokyo was chosen to set the first example for the rest of the world in building a series of Electro-Magnetic Skyscrapers and these buildings will be able to migrate like birds. Self sufficient energy cubes will provide the basic needs to the community. By using built-in energy resources in every E.M. Cube (such as photovoltaic cells on the sides of the cube, Wind turbines, air shafts forcing wind into energy, water conservation tanks etc.)

POPSWill NASA Test a Plasma Drive on the ISS? A plasma engine such as the VASIMR uses radio waves to ionize a propellant, and magnetic fields to accelerate or decelerate the resulting plasma to generate thrust. The VASIMR injects a gas such as hydrogen in to an engine that turns it in to plasma. The radio waves are now used to energize the plasma further as it moves through the engine. The plasma, now accelerated and heated, is focused and directed as exhaust using a magnetic nozzle.

POPSUS Intel: Iranian nuclear strike on U.S. ?
“The only explanation we can find is that Iranians are figuring out how to launch a missile from a ship and get it up to altitude and then detonate it,” “And that’s exactly what you would do if you had a nuclear weapon on a Scud or a Shahab-3, and you wanted to explode it over the US.” "If a crude nuclear weapon were detonated anywhere between 40 kilometers to 400 kilometers above the earth, in a split-second it would generate an electro-magnetic pulse that would cripple military and civilian communications, power, transportation, water, food, and other infrastructure" Asked how many Americans would die if Iran were to launch the EMP attack it appears to be preparing, Graham gave a chilling reply. “You have to go back into the 1800s to look at the size of population” that could survive in a nation deprived of mechanized agriculture, transportation, power, water, and communication. “70 to 90 percent of the population would not be sustainable after this kind of attack”.

POPSIn the Works: MEMS Brain-Computer Interface As the electrodes are driven into the tissue, the software starts taking sample recordings to detect spikes of electrical activity at the electrode tip. When the software detects spikes, it moves forward in small increments and tracks how the signals change. After determining whether the signal has improved or gotten worse, it the algorithm moves the electrode to a new position and does more recording and comparing, driving the electrode in further if necessary until it finds the best signal. If the signal wanes, the algorithm will automatically adjust the electrode position to improve the signal.
