POPSCapitalism again proves to the the source of the problem
This article is a must-read. The unfair capitalist healthcare system causes a glut on doctors in rich areas where they can earn more, and a sparsity in areas where they would earn less, like poor communities. Do people still think that America can get by without reforming Healthcare? Doctor's salaries need to be standardized, so a doctor working in a dirt-poor area of Arkansas is going make the same amount (by scale of skill) as a doctor in Malibu, California. 50 million uninsured Americans, and another 50 million underinsured Americans are too many people to be excluded from proper, complete healthcare. It's criminal, and amoral. C'mon, all you right-wingers! Don't you think that women and newborn children dying from perfectly preventable causes during childbirth is more important that wondering if federal money is going to perform abortions? Don't you think that people ending up losing limbs or eyesight due to lack of care for their diabetes is more important than getting all work

POPS Let Them Eat Dirt from the report. But the mainstream media did not report these conflicts and instead piled on the "global warming" and "carbon offset" bandwagons. The carbon offset market quickly exploded. In fact, $92 billion worth of offsets were estimated to change hands in 2008. But wanton profiteering appears to be the sole rationale for "carbon trading". Put simply, a wide range of respected scientists, environmentalists, researchers, agriculturalists, and activists believe that carbon offsets are a "scam", "fantasy", "fiction", "nonsense", "fraudulent" and worse. And they've been saying so since 2000, though to read the newspaper you wouldn't know it. The World Rainforest Movement, for example, investigated these bizarre financial ties and concluded that the IPCC report must "...be shelved due to their clear conflict of interest and a new report instigated which will be free of the taint of intellectual corruption."

POPSKrugman Sounds The Alarm On Banks - Again.
So who was this thundering bank critic? None other than Lawrence Summers, the Obama administration’s chief economist — and one of the architects of the administration’s bank policy, which up until now has been to go easy on financial institutions and hope that they mend themselves. Why the change in tone? Administration officials are furious at the way the financial industry, just months after receiving a gigantic taxpayer bailout, is lobbying fiercely against serious reform. But you have to wonder what they expected to happen. They followed a softly, softly policy, providing aid with few strings, back when all of Wall Street was on the ropes; this left them with very little leverage over firms like Goldman that are now, once again, making a lot of money. But there’s an even bigger problem: while the wheeler-dealer side of the financial industry, a k a trading operations, is highly profitable again, the part of banking that really matters — lending, which fuels investment and job

POPSHealthcare is a Good, Not a Right "As bureaucrats take over medicine, costs go up and quality goes down because doctors spend more and more of their time on paperwork and less time helping patients." "As costs skyrocket, as they always do when inefficient bureaucrats take the reins, government will need to confiscate more and more money from an already foundering economy to somehow pay the bills."

POPS"Google this: 'Patriotism'" bing is supposedly more "family friendly" than Google. I recommend swagbucks.com. You can earn points or swagbucks when you search that can later be exchanged for swag. You don't get a buck with every search but as you use searches over time you start to build them up. The swag at their store can range from gift cards to MP3 player to tee shirts to musical instruments. They even have an area where you can swap video games with others & earn extra swagbucks. I've just started using this site so I haven't been with them long enough to rack up too many bucks but I have a friend that bought her husband an iTunes gift card for his birthday this year which was nice since money is tight at their house right now.

POPSSome Things Are More Important Than Money I suspect there are responsible loggers that play by the rules and practice environmentally safe business practices. POPSFederal tax revenues plummeting No shit! Pretty simple math---> If A gets $$ from B, but many B have no work to earn $$, then they have nothing to pay to A. So as more B lose jobs, where does A get more $$, raise the tax of the B's who are employed? It is just a huge house of cards that keep tumbling......

POPSA Cloud Of Hairspray And Cigarette Smoke “Some people still say hostesses are wasting their life away,” he said. “But rather than criticizing them, Japan should create more jobs for young women.” Is this bothersome to anyone else besides me that women are yet again reinforced they have to be dependent upon their looks and appeal to men to earn their own money? Beauty fades. They ain't gonna be young forever and it's obvious there is pressure to take it a step further into prostitution.

POPSEasy Google Profit And Other Work-At-Home Scams Then it zeroes in on, and praises “Easy Google Profit,” which offers people work from home posting links on Web sites using text advertising applications. It all looked legitimate; except, as the reporter points out, the “Miami Gazette” does not exist. And in tiny, hard to read type below the newspaper logo, the following statement appeared: “This publication is an article advertisement for Easy Google Profit.” The reporter’s friend didn’t notice the warning signs and signed up with her debit card. She had unknowingly authorized this scam work-at-home company to charge $72 to her debit card every month until she called to cancel. For example, in April, 2009, the Texas Attorney General filed a complaint against Infusion Media, Inc., a company that allegedly ran at least three sham work-at-home websites, two of which capitalized on the Google brand: GoogleMoneyTree.com, Google TreasureChest.com and InternetIncomeIntiative.com.

POPSAttention 95% of Americans: Here Are Some More Taxes From Which You Should Probably Avert Your Eyes " Capping the tax break on itemized deductions at 28 percent, as President Barack Obama had proposed, or freezing the top deduction rate at 35 percent when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010. The first scenario would raise $168 billion, while the second would collect $90 billion. " Issue tax credit bonds to pay for the proposed Medicaid expansion, raising $75 billion. " Charge fees to pharmaceutical manufacturers, bringing in as much as $20 billion, and insurance providers, raising $75 billion. " Raise taxes on sodas and sugary drinks. A 3-cent hike could pick up $30 billion, and a 10-cent hike could make $100 billion. This one already appears out of favor: Many senators have specifically ruled out the sugar tax, and a Senate Democratic source said it was the one option that was clearly not gaining traction with committee members.

POPSThe commuting paradox I figured out a long time ago that I hate (hate hate HATE) commuting. A 40% raise would not be nearly enough to compensate me for adding an hour to my commute. (As it is, we live two miles from my work. I can take the bus, ride a bike, or walk. It's great.)

POPS Obugger's Wealth Share...um...Health Care Ten Reasons Why Medicare for All Will Be AWESOME! 1. It’s patriotic to pay taxes. If you have to pay taxes anyway, you might as well fund a good cause, excessive taxation being the greatest form of charity (for those who didn’t earn the money in the first place). Medicare for All is as good a cause as any other, except for maybe freedom. Besides, it’s not every day you get to put best in class American ingenuity into the hands of bureaucrats and completely destroy it, all while finding your government sponsored sunny breezy day. POPSChinese Premier Wen Jiabao Is Worried About US Debt? As North Korea shakes the nuclear sabre, Iran threatens Israel's existence and the modern world cowers before medieval Islamists, what leverage do we have to gain China's cooperation? None, of course. Instead, China has all the leverage to make us bend to their will. What other choice do we have but to obey our new master? Thousands of years ago, a wise man wrote that "the borrower is the slave of the lender." Anyone who has racked up debts understands this concept all too well. When your money belongs to someone else, they get to tell you what to do. When Treasury Secretary/Tax Cheat Tim Geithner reassured a Chinese audience that their "investments" in America were safe, they laughed in his face. Before long, our new master will notice the whip he's been handed and the laughter will stop. The world is about to get a lot more dangerous.
