POPSGeek vs. Nerd vs. Dork I don't know if I agree with everything in here, but the list is pretty spot on for the most part... I definitely define myself as a geek, and match up pretty well with that here :)

POPSAtheists Need to Chill Michael Shermer makes a point that needs to be made. Atheists need to remember what they stand for , not merely what they are against . Ridicule and contempt have no place in science, and haters should not tarnish its reputation by association. In the words of the greatest consciousness raiser of the 20th century, Martin Luther King, Jr., in his epic "I Have a Dream" speech: "In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline." If atheists do not want theists to prejudge them in a negative light, then they must not do unto theists the same.

POPSCoffee - I like coffee so much that I have tea for breakfast :-) One man's roller coaster history with coffee: "I like coffee so much that I have tea for breakfast: The first cup of the day in particular is so good that I’m afraid I won’t be able to properly appreciate it when I am half-asleep. Therefore, I celebrate it two hours later when I am fully conscious".

POPSMan urinates way out of avalanche. Clever thinking. I would've tried pouring the beer, but that probably wouldn't work well. By the time I'd have to go to the bathroom, it'd probably be to late.

POPSLiar? RAPED Female officer Treated 'Like A Criminal' by Army.
(CBS) Few problems have been more persistent or produced more bad news for the military than the issue of rape within its own ranks. Allegations that not enough is being done to help victims or prosecute offenders have been raised from the service academies to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan -- where hundreds of cases of sexual assault have been reported by women in uniform. It was that revelation, plus pressure from Congress, that’s forced the Pentagon to once again examine sexual misconduct in the military – which has been done 18 times in the last 16 years. The result has been more recommendations and sweeping policy changes. "They’ve done nothing but lie to me and treat me like a criminal," says Dyer. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld says that he will have zero tolerance when it comes to sexual assault in the military. To that, Dyer says, "I don’t believe it. Zero tolerance would mean that I would not have been treated the way I’ve been treated."

POPSThe Crisis is Coming: How Peak Water Could Reshape Civilization With advanced technologies and more prudent water usage, the majority of Earth’s inhabitants will be able to continue to enjoy the luxury of clean water for a long time to come. Yes, we need to fundamentally rethink water usage and plenty of bigger changes are needed, but at least we’re heading in the right direction. With better stewardship and improved city planning, humans will likely be able to avert a good portion of the more disastrous scenarios.
