POPSrestaurant: Pho Ga Hai Phong, Oakland
New restaurant in our neighborhood. Tasty food. More: Since age 9, Mommy had to cook all the meals for her entire family of eight, because her parents were out working hard to catch fish on their boat all day. She learned to make soup broth and other simple meals by wandering around and watching the neighbors cook. When she was 13 years old, she learned to make pho and honed her Vietnamese culinary skills…Mommy often worked in various restaurants…as a dishwasher or assistant in the kitchen, where she observed the chefs preparing exquisite dishes…It was Mommy’s dream to be the head chef of a restaurant where she could determine the menu items and share her home-style cooking and serve her family's favorite dishes, such as Pho Ga, Bun Rieu (vermicelli noodles with shrimp, crab, and egg soup), clam chowder, BBQ short ribs, and New York steak with everyone. This is why the Pho Ga Hai Phong menu offers 3 distinct cuisines: Vietnamese, Chinese, and American.

POPS'Hello, this is Gilad' Addressing his parents and siblings, Gilad says: "I wish to send my well-wishes to my family and tell them that I love them and miss them greatly, and hope for the day I'll see them again. Dad, Yoel, and Hadas, do you remember the day you arrived at my base in the Golan Heights, on December 31, 2005? We toured around the base and you took a picture of me on a Merkava tank and on one of the old tanks at the entrance to the base. Later we went to a restaurant in one of the Druze villages and on the way we took pictures on the side of the road, against the backdrop of the snowy Hermon Mountain." "I want to tell you that I feel well in medical terms, and that the Mujahidin from the al-Qassam Brigades are treating me excellently. Thank you very much and goodbye," Gilad concludes. Gilad's parents, Noam and Aviva, watched the tape privately in their home earlier in the day, and later granted the Prime Minister's Office permission to publicize it.

POPS100-Year-Old Batboy Decades-Long Sox Fan
why i love baseball... see link for vid But it did. Wearing his custom-make "Big Pappy" Boston Red Sox Jersey - a gift from his daughter - Giddon arrived for batting practice at Fenway Park Saturday. He handled more helmets than bats. A string of Red Sox players made a point to meet him, including the real "Big Papi," slugger David Ortiz. "You got some hits for me," Ortiz asked Giddon. The last time Giddon was a batboy was 1923 - a bag of peanuts cost 5 cents, and he was 13, working for the old Boston Braves. Giddon once met Babe Ruth, but his favorite player was Ted Williams. "Did you ever thing about playing baseball?" Pinkston asked. "It was more of a dream," Giddon said. "But I don't think I was built for it. I wasn't tall or strong enough." It was Kennesaw Mountain Landis, the first commissioner of baseball, who steered him to a different career. "He says, 'I think you ought to be a lawyer, you ought to go to law school,'" Giddon said. That's what Giddon
