POPSClause 11 ..WAKE UP PEOPLE! On December 16, it was reported by the Financial Times that China has imposed additional restrictions on the internet. People registering a domain name in China will have to present a company seal and a business license, the China Internet Network Information Center, a government-backed body, said in a statement on Monday. “Officials said the measure was part of a campaign to rein in pornographic content, but bloggers and internet activists interpreted it as a broader attempt to enforce internet censorship more heavily,” writes Kathrin Hille.

POPSGoogle Unleashes Its Own Public DNS Be very afraid. Just kidding. Well, half kidding. It could very well be the standard from the get-go, due to Google brand name backing and the easy to remember 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 addresses. Do you want Google to know every single web site and page you have visited? Some people may not care, but some people concerned with privacy may disagree. If you're already a huge Google fan and first-mover, then you probably don't really care that they can read your email, office documents, calendar, voice mail, health records, and have a picture of your house.

POPSGerbils, gay blood elves, and Glenn Beck How better to give Beck a taste of his own medicine than by wondering publicly why he has never addressed the rumor that he raped and murdered a young girl in 1990? No one's saying that Beck really did it… but if he has nothing to hide, why won't he deny the tale?

POPSCreate a free forum I used this tool a while ago to Create a website/forum for a friend about Yu-Gi-Oh! and picked up a lot of knowledge on how they operate their limitations and capabilities etc. The site got up to about 50-60 members before He got bored of it and just let the site decay, (He was only 16.) but I found it incredibly easy to use and quite intuitive, with many customization options and discovered it to be a lot of fun seeing a site you created taking shape and gaining members.

POPSRAVEL "Hidden clue to composer's passion: BBC" Many horny older gents may remember that Bolero was used in the movie 10 to great acclaim; the character played by Bo Derek kept restarting the music on a phonograph, while trying to seduce the character played by Dudley Moore. Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar used Boléro for a long sequence of the 1988 film "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown". Italian animator Bruno Bozzetto used the greater part of Boléro for a sequence in his Fantasia-like 1977 film Allegro non troppo. The music is also used, to great effect, in the circus-ring climax to the 1995 movie, Funny Bones. Enjoy!

POPSIs This Your Paper On Single Serving Sites? More: These sites, which writer Jason Kottke termed “single serving sites” in February 20081, capture visitors’ attention for a fraction of a minute, a tacit acknowledgement of the economy of attention in which they operate. In this space they express many traditional messages that have found an emerging new form of expression on the Internet. Dozens of tiny, single serving sites provide a venue for pop culture references, inside jokes, art displays, collective action, bids for peer approval, humor, and advice. Collectively they offer a perspective on the web as a platform for a unique brand of storytelling.
