POPSI Won't 'Vigorously' Back Obama Re-election Bid: Howard Dean SCARBOROUGH: "Not vigorously." Boy, I can almost feel the confetti falling on my head here! My two cents: the MSM has largely been portraying Dean as a principled progressive opponent of ObamaCare. I say that good old personal spite might also be motivating Doc Dean. Remember that it was the very same Robert Gibbs who, during the 2003 Dem presidential primary campaign, was behind a TV ad showing OBL (Osama bin Laden) and suggesting Dean was incapable of protecting American's national security. PBO (Barak 0bama) has also hurt Dean's feelings, snubbing him for the HHS Secretary post which many Dems felt was his due. POPSKids to Meet Marx in School
These two books have now become the basis for a new documentary, entitled The People Speak, to be aired December 13th at 8pm on the History Channel. The trailer portrays the documentary as a collage of compelling one-person readings, told through the words of “ordinary” people who have struggled throughout American history against oppression. Produced by Zinn, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and Chris Moore, the documentary appears to be cloaked, ironically (given Zinn’s admitted socialist agenda), in many of the traditional ideas that were behind our founding. The verdict is still out on the doc, but it is not for the books that inspired the film as well as the educational initiative associated with it. Perhaps due to their one-sided perspective of America’s past, Zinn’s history books have largely been limited to colleges and universities, until now. In the press release announcing the broadcast, HISTORY introduced a partnership with VOICES Of A People’s History Of The United States, a no

POPSMessage to the Environmental Movement The greenie's not for turning The Independent is telling us that the Boy Cameron is facing "a growing challenge to his authority from senior members of his own party who say they have doubts about the Conservatives' stance on global warming." Leading figures including Peter Lilley, the former cabinet minister, Andrew Tyrie and Ann Widdecombe are openly questioning the political consensus on climate change. David Davis is also warning that the policy of tough targets to cut carbon emissions, supported by the Boy, is "destined to collapse". He criticises "the fixation of the green movement with setting ever tougher targets, in the face of failure to meet earlier promises". He adds: "The ferocious determination to impose hair-shirt policies on the public " taxes on holiday flights, or covering our beautiful countryside with wind turbines that look like props from War of the Worlds " is bound to cause a reaction in any democratic country."

POPSRunning Doc: PLEASE "do the aspirin"! More: Now, it's true that one case doesn’t prove anything. The International Marathon Medical Directors Association is meeting in March 2010 to develop a multi-city, multi-country research project. It may be that all runners develop high serum myoglobins, since they clear quickly (sometime within one day) -- but they also interact in the body, creating a cascade of other inflammatory elevations that may be markers of risk and may help us to get a better handle on SCD. As Dr. Siegel says: “Like the runner herein, these SCD victims during races can be saved. But wouldn't it make even more sense to try to prevent the SCD's in the first place? Taking aspirin may just do the trick." You can help us make this research project "smarter." If you happen to visit your doctor within 24 hours after finishing a full or half-marathon, please bring a copy of this post with you, record the information below, then e-mail the results to us

POPSRunning Doc: How to prevent "marathon feet" More: Here are some things you can do to prevent and/or treat "marathon feet": * Train on the same surface you plan to run on. If you are training for a marathon on roads, the treadmill or a soft track will not prepare your body for the pounding… * After the race, and you are urinating normally…you may take (e.g., aspirin or ibuprofen) unless your doctor has told you that you cannot due to a contraindication. * Most important: Immediately upon returning home or to your hotel post-race, soak your feet for 15 minutes in an ice bath. This is the best way to avoid this middle-of-the-night pain. Now, if you have pain the Monday after the event, 15-minute ice baths three times a day and may be necessary for two days to ease the inflammation. If you feel bony tenderness, see a doctor sooner than later -- what you have may not be "marathon feet" but rather a stress or full fracture of a bone in your foot.

POPSRunning Doc: When is it smart to drop out of a race? More: The physician's caveat: These "rules" do NOT apply if you take a pain med before you run! As you know, I never recommend NSAIDs when you run, but also do not believe in taking preventive meds to stop you from feeling the pain in the first place. Pain plays an important role, in that it helps you to know when to stop. Masking the pain prevents you from knowing when to stop and may lead to a more serious injury.

POPSRunning Doc: Should runners take a baby aspirin daily? More, from the comments: So by all of your runners, do you include those under 45 and 50 (male, female)? At 25 with good health, should I also be taking a baby aspirin? Posted by: Jessica Dear Jessica… Yes, EVERYONE regardless of age (if no contraindications) should take a baby aspirin (81mg). In this way, we just may make a dent in the sudden death during marathoning statistic! Posted by: Running Doc

POPSRunning Doc: "Do the salt" to avoid hyponatremia More: * Follow the fluid recommendations….drink only when thirsty! * Include pretzels or a salted bagel in your pre-race meal. * Favor a sports drink that has some sodium in it over water, which has none. * In the days before the race, add salt to your foods (provided that you don't have high blood pressure or your doctor has restricted your salt intake). * Eat salted pretzels during the last half of the race. * Do the salt! Carry two small salt packets with you (the kind found in fast food restaurants), and before the race and again during the last half of the race (marathon or half-marathon) consume a single packet under your tongue. * After the race, drink a sports drink that has sodium in it and eat some pretzels or a salted bagel. * Stop taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatories 24 hours before your race and do not start again until 6 hours post-race.

POPSStock Shock! The Movie
The movie exposes a technique known as naked short selling, which has resulted in the collapse of the stock value of some of America’s most promising public companies. Sirius XM, often labeled as one of the most manipulated stocks in the market, is dissected in the movie. “Stock Shock” interviews individual investors who saw their stock price hit a high of $9.00/share and then plummet to a horrifying low of 5 cents in 2009. “Stock Shock” has spurred a grassroots movement helping convince the SEC to enact and make permanent an emergency rule to ban abusive naked short-selling. It’s no wonder. The reviews are impressive: “Shocking and eye-opening!” “It’s an awakening. Academy Award…Stock Shock should get one,” says radio host Jim Puplava of the Financial Sense Newshour. Industry expert and shareholder activist Bud Burrell remarks: “I will give it 10 stars of 10. It is the best doc of this length I have ever seen. I think this will go into the defining literature of this sp

POPSGoogle Wave, Screenshot Tour and Video
When someone updates a wave in your inbox, it turns bold and moves to the top of your inbox"just like email. If a contact of yours is online, a little green dot appears on his or her icon. All the modules are collapsible and dock themselves in the upper part of the screen. If you've collapsed your inbox and a new wave gets updated, it flashes green. Here I've clicked on new wave and minimized all the other modules to expand my workspace. You can add all sorts of rich content to your wave, like a YouTube video, Google Map, image, links, or anything that a gadget enables. (More on gadgets below.) Here I've added some colored text and embedded a video clip in my wave. When I finish typing and click the Done button on my wave, Wave pops up the "Add participants" module so I can share my wave with anyone on my contacts list. You can search for a contact by name, or just drag and drop anyone to the wave you choose. Once you've shared a wave, the magic starts to happen.

POPSRepublicans Call for Action to Address Man-Made Drought
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The House Natural Resources Committee held a full committee hearing today on the "The California Drought: Actions by Federal and State agencies to address impacts on lands, fisheries and water users. Republicans have offered numerous solutions to provide necessary relief to families, farmers and businesses in California's San Joaquin Valley who are struggling to survive in the midst of a man-made drought. Solutions include passing legislation (specifically H.R. 996 and H.R. 856) to suspend the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act during times of drought emergency to ensure that the Delta pumps operate at historic capacity, encouraging the Administration to take steps to allow for water transfers and temporary barriers to keep smelt away from the pumps, and offering new water storage as a longer-term proposal to help the State in alternating times of drought and floods. Congressman Devin Nunes (CA-21) warned, "This Congress . . .

POPSAmerica’s Truth Czar tells Pelosi to Get Bent And did I mention that Wilson was right? Why yes; yes, I did, and yes, he was, as the White House has gotten busy “clarifying” the section of the Big Takeover bill that he specifically called King Obama out for in the first place " a section the Liar in Thief and other liberal professional equivocators would have you believe didn’t exist. “I’ve apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, the vice president…I am not apologizing again,” he told “FOX News Sunday.” “I believe that is sufficient.” “I believe in the truth. What I heard was not true,” Wilson explained Sunday. “I believe (Obama) was misstating the facts.” He most certainly was " The Truth Czar caught Big Chief Training Pants On Fire with his lips moving, and doused the flames with the cold water of truth.
