POPSSymbian upgrades its OS, fights off rivals Om Malik at GigaOM has the scope on an interesting upgrade from Symbian, and will probably help then when compared to Windows Mobile, Palm, BlackBerry, and the upcoming iPhone, but I fear that the platform is too shortsighted in its original underpinnings to compete significantly. Every Symbian based device I've used has performance and scaling issues not seen on the other platforms - even BlackBerry.

I would recommend the camera, great value for the price, but it does have a couple deficiencies and an ease-of-use problem that need correction. First, the lens cap will not stay on. We finally gave up and did without it, which probably limits the camera's life. Second, the battery life is limited. During those days when I used the camera alot, I ran through a set of four alkaline AA batteries in one day. Be sure to have lots of extra batteries on hand! (Especially of you review your pictures at the end of the day, this seems to eat up lots of energy, so we stopped doing that.)

I just bought one of Aiptek's other multifunction devices -- incredibly cheap and flimsy, but astonishingly versatile. Now I want one of these.
