POPSParis Olympic Torch Relay Is Cut Short Thousands of police sent on to the streets to protect the torch relay as it made its way around the city were unable to prevent demonstrators hijacking the event. It meant the torch had to be repeatedly put out amid safety fears. The event began with several hundred people waving banners gathering on the Trocadero esplanade where the relay started. Several activists were later arrested, with some handcuffing themselves to the Eiffel Tower. Sky News Europe correspondent Greg Milam said extinguishing the flame was significant because the torch was supposed to be kept alight on its journey around the world. POPSMaybe It WAS Over When The Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor Noting the date, Dec. 7, which marks the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Wright instead chose to focus on the thousands of Japanese civilians who died four years later when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Brachear | Tribune reporter December 8, 2008 http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-wright-08-dec08,0,6598372.story Forget the fact that the Obamas listened to this clown. The exigencies of national politics have rescued them from Wright's silliness. What about all the other people who still do? Was it not the Trib's obligation to point out that they are paying close attention to an idiot? You know, for their own good.

POPSCEOs get it right in '08 As in any aspect of businesss, it's not so much about winning as it is minimizing the losses. Oh, and when you win, make sure you win big. People only remember big. Let's hope for better decision-makers next year and leave the big losses, the ones we'll always remember, behind us.

POPSComcast's Usage Cap: What Will It Mean To You? Users’ monthly fee are tied to their broadband usage, which is capped at 5 Gigabytes to 40 Gigabytes. I bet that if you start tracking your broadband usage, with software listed here, you’ll be unpleasantly surprised. The GigaOM 250 GB Challenge & 5 Tools To Monitor Your Bandwidth Consumption http://gigaom.com/2008/08/29/the-gigaom-250-gb-challenge/ AT&T and Verizon may soon follow in Time Warner’s footsteps, say analysts. I am still waiting for comments from both companies. Home broadband providers are increasingly competing with a slew of new, wireless broadband carriers like Clearwire. With consumers having more choices about which broadband provider to go with, Comcast and others simply can’t afford to tighten their usage caps too much – or to keep them at the current levels for long.
