SF Author: Gregory Frost
skwirlinator
by skwirlinator  3-30-2006
The Nebula, Hugo, Tiptree, International Horror Guild, and World Fantasy Award finalist takes you on a journey of wonders and nightmares. It's a midnight odyssey to a shadowland where vehicles feast on vagrants . . . where Poe's final days are revealed . . . where factory workers are exploited by an apparition of the Virgin Mary . . . and where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart pinwheels through the corridors of Time. On this pilgrimage we discover the apocalyptic entity that hides in a Ukranian village. We're taken to a crossroads where the Castle of Otranto bleeds into the Depression-Era South accompanied by the rollicking music of Kid Ory and Bix Beiderbecke. Frost's fourteen excursions include an account of the horror that dwells in Jack the Ripper's pocket watch, and features a brand new novella -- a slam-bang interplanetary "Road" picture peppered with Hope & Crosby japery and more than a dash of Flash Gordon. Attack of the Jazz Giants: And Other Stories

pokkets

The lenses are like microscopic tennis balls, cut in half. With a little pressure the lens can change from concave to convex, giving a surface new properties, that can have many applications, from color changing paint, or road signs that can change with heat, or light, or on demand. Each depression, is about the size of a human hair

USA Congress: Yesterday: X-Rated Review
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-8-2007
One refreshing aspect of current USA political discussion is seeing and hearing the massive tidal wave, the roaring tsunami of resentment and anger, now directed at both US political parties. Gosh...I remember 'back in the Day,' when it was a few and sporadic voices seeking to mount opposition to the growing American fascism and imperialism -- all done under the waving of the flag and invoking of Christianity. But, gosh, now today it's hard to keep up with the many voices that scream for action, that wail against the policies of Bush and his neo-con illegitimate warmongers. It appears activist are thumbing through their dictionaries, thesauruses, Ency. Brits, Bulfinch's mythology, Aesops fables, records of the Crusades and Spanish Inquisitions, not to mention of course Homer, Shakespeare, Barry McGurie, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, etc. Yes, indeed, "The Eastern World, it is exploding..." Now, even slang and profanity are being strained to their limits.
