Some Aloha State Natives are Blaming Obama In Part for Visitors Slump
merrie
by merrie  1-2-2010    1
Hawaii no longer an economic paradise ..... Some residents blame the visiting President Obama. “We’re losing the group business that’s either canceled due to economic reasons or concerns about being seen as a company going to Hawaii,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii and French Polynesia. Some Hawaiians are underwhelmed by the return of their native son. In the scruffy town of Wahiawa on Oahu, far from the beaches and fancy hotels, some locals waiting by a pawnshop for the bus were decidedly ambivalent about the president. “It’s not good here " there are no jobs,” said Hu Toelupe, who said she didn’t expect to see the president and didn’t care if she missed him.  The president's speech followed the publication of draft text, obtained by the Guardian this morning, that reveals the enormous progress needed from world leaders in the final hours of the Copenhagen climate change summit to achieve a strong deal. The draft says countries "ought" to limit global warming to 2C, but crucially does not bind them to do so. The text, drafted by a select group of 28 leaders " including UK prime minister, Gordon Brown " in the early hours of this morning, also proposes extending negotiations for another year until the next scheduled UN meeting on climate change in Mexico City in December 2010. 12 National Orgs Demand Jennings Be Fired!! Co-Sign Letter to Congress
merrie
by merrie  12-17-2009    3
As head of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Mr. Jennings is on record as promoting liberal sex education and homosexual themes to children as early as Kindergarten. Now, additional information comes to light regarding Mr. Jenning’s association with GLSEN “Fistgate” Conferences, encouraging extreme sexual practices in children as young as 14. After objections were raised to that matter, Mr. Jennings announced that GLSEN presentations and presenters would be more closely monitored. But then, the following such conference included the handing out of “Fisting Kits” to children. The descriptions of the use of these kits are beyond imagination. To endorse this behavior, much less promote it, is unforgivable. Kevin Jennings must not be allowed to continue to endanger our children. The undersigned individuals and organizations ask the Senate Education Committee, its members and every individual Senator to demand Kevin Jennings’ .....

Carefully cultivating the image of the concerned “scientist”, he has on the back of the global warming hype not only been able to amass a considerable personal fortune (about which he is extraordinarily shy) but has also built a powerful global organisation under the brand-name “TERI”, as the front for his lobbying and power-broking activities. And, as one might expect, part of the Pachauri empire is a branch office in Washington DC, based at 1101 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, within sight of the Capitol. Called TERI-NA (The Energy and Resources Institute, North America), it was set up as a “501(c)(3) company” (non-profit) in 1990, it is not even very discrete in its objectives, telling us that: Its activities have centred around conducting research and organizing workshops/conferences to sensitize the decision-makers in North America to developing countries’ concern about energy and environment.

Anatomy of a Shakedown by Charles Krauthammer
merrie
by merrie  12-13-2009    3
But such dreams never die. The raid on the Western treasuries is on again, but today with a new rationale to fit current ideological fashion. With socialism dead, the gigantic heist is now proposed as a sacred service of the newest religion: environmentalism. One of the major goals of the Copenhagen climate summit is another NIEO shakedown: the transfer of hundreds of billions from the industrial West to the Third World to save the planet by, for example, planting green industries in the tristes tropiques . Politically it's an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man's guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt. But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen. It thrives on the national scale too.

I love the Dr. He brings all the pieces together to show why we're where we are today. When the call began (whenever?) to "Get the US out of the UN & the UN out of the US", it should have been heeded. Corruption abounds and it's tentacles are in every continent. Wonder what the final conclusion was on the UN member who committed "suicide" by "jumping" from one it's top floors?

How To Control Life; Control Carbon
merrie
by merrie  11-28-2009
Former EU Environment Minister Margot Wallstrom said, "Kyoto is about the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide." Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper once dismissed U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol as a "socialist scheme." (http://bit.ly/81iMvl) In addition, calls for a global carbon tax have been urged at recent U.N. global warming conferences . In December 2007, the U.N. climate conference in Bali urged the adoption of a global carbon tax that would represent "a global burden sharing system, fair, with solidarity, and legally binding to all nations." (http://bit.ly/5fNMQ5) "A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources," said Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth. The Obama administration revealed even more controls in September 2009 when it was announced that the State Department wanted to form a global "Ecological Board of Directors." (http://bit.ly/8hbI4D)

Calif. Lawyer Who Challenged Obama Citizenship Fined $20,000

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of watching one of her press conferences, then you can't truly appreciate the "train wreck" that is Orly Taitz, Attorney-at-Law. Ms. Taitz is a leader in the so-called "Birther Movement," the movement that challenges President Obama's right to hold office on the grounds that he is not a U.S. citizen. The ABA Journal Law News Now reports that a federal judge in Georgia fined Taitz $20,000 for her wild accusations in court and ordered her not to pursue any further frivolous actions in court - ever. In my opinion, this should render Taitz unable to practice law. Not to be dissuaded, Taitz filed a motion for reconsideration the next day. This motion was apparently denied, the judge writing, “Counsel’s wild accusations may be protected by the First Amendment when she makes them on her blog or in her press conferences, but the federal courts are reserved for hearing genuine legal disputes, not as a platform for political rhetoric and

Concerning Fox's War against the White House
darkeforce
by darkeforce  10-28-2009    4
Considering that FoxNews started attacking Obama based on fantasies and lies starting in January, it's typical right-wing victimhood for them to whine like little girls when the White House takes actions to level the playing field. The only real surprise was how much the other Corporate, Right-WIng Media Outlets were in Fox's back pocket. Besides, why should FoxNews care if it's invited to press conferences, anyway? They just make up all their shit in the first place; creating and parroting strawmen and scarecrows over and over to drum the lies into the heads of their gullible viewers.

AHIP for The Public "Option", The Musical

by merrie  10-26-2009    1
This is much more fun and better sung than traditional protests! And given that *AHIP would benefit from a public option, I suspect Karen Ignagni hired them. It looks like it happened in the closing session of this AHIP conference on Friday although having sat in many of these conferences I do need to tell the protestors that no plotting is done in these Forums. That happens elsewhere… (AHIP AmericanHealthSolution.org) October 16, 2009 * Why AHIP needs the public option By Matthew Holt It’s been a fun week. After years of THCB explaining that neither could AHIP do genuine research nor could its venerable President open her mouth without lying, the rest of the world has caught on. I won’t rehash the blow by blow here"Jonathan Cohn is among many who’s done that already"but essentially AHIP commissioned PWC to include the half of the analysis about the Baucus bill that was favorable to them and leave the rest out.

He has also been given a spot on US Airways's flight operations safety management team. Sullenberger, 58, had taken a break from flying to write an autobiography and required catch-up training before he could get back in the cockpit. Despite being the nation's most celebrated and trusted pilot, Sullenberger had to go back to ground school, take some new simulator training and fly with a captain from the training department. "The months since January 15 have been very full, and my family and I have had some unforgettable experiences," Sullenberger said in a statement. "However, I have missed working with my colleagues at US Airways and I am eager to get back in the cockpit with my fellow pilots in the months ahead." "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters," Sullenberger's engaging account of his life and the crash - in which his calm Gary Cooper-esque personality shines - comes out in October. "We welcome Capt. Sullenberger back to work and

Once again, the indispensable DebkaFile tells all. Although it's not as though we never suspected that UN officials were in the pockets of the world's dictators. The rest of the report is as follows: One official told DEBKAfile that passing the new information to the IAEA director had compromised its sources anyway so there was no point in holding it back any longer. The seven governments concerned will decide very soon which parts of this unpublished information to air. According to our sources, it will not be attributed directly to any government but to "Iranian exiles" who will present it as coming from inside Iran. This tactic was employed in 2004, when the opposition Mojaheddin al-Khalq leaders first broke the news of Iran's uranium enrichment plant in Natanz at press conferences in Washington and Paris. The Israeli foreign ministry denounced the ElBaradei report, released ahead of the nuclear watchdog's regular annual meeting in Vienna on Sept. 7, for omitting "to detail I

A Brief History Of Political Correctness
merrie
by merrie  9-3-2009    3
In other words, facts do not bother the true believers. Their imaginary world is the real reality, the real world is only a temporary reality which is about to be changed. As Marx said, philosophers try to explain the world, the problem (for social scientists) is to change it. The particular ideology of the globalist left is traceable initially to Friedrich Engels and his book ˜The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State (1884), and it goes basically like this. Once upon a time man lived in a state of blissful communism where there was no hate, no crime, no violence or war, only universal love. This was possible because there was no private ownership of property. Everything was shared by all and allocated according to the principle ˜from each according to their ability, to each according to their need. In fact nobody laid personal claim to anything, not even their own body. There were no moral rules or restrictions, everybody was bisexual and

Andreu Balent recalls their history SAINT-LAURENT-DE-CERDANS ~ election of Joseph Nivet
martinlowe

The historian André Balent came to inaugurate a cycle of four conferences programmed this summer by the municipality on topics touching with the life, the history or the culture laurentine. In the room of the syndicated Workers which was one of the high places of antagonism between the two districts of the borough, el Moli and el Castell, André Balent provided the enthralling ones and clear historical explanations. It avoided any over-simplification and any caricature, on the genesis and the development, between 1815 and 1945, of this complex competition, more or less violent according to times', intersected with periods of unanimity when the good of the village community required it, and of the sometimes paradoxical or ambiguous characteristics, based on economic and social criteria, one and the other of the rival camps.
