US Senator Dumps His Pregnant Dog at Pound
onlinedesign
by onlinedesign  7-20-2008    6
I am an advocate for the State of South Carolina and for Animal Rights, especially "getting your Pet Spayed and Neutered in SC". This is my Animal Care Blog: http://animalcare-sc.blogspot.com/ South Carolina is a wonderful, beautiful and unique place to live. When I hear such discusting displays of negligence and uncaring it hurts my heart to detail it, when it is a blight on my Community and yet another shame for my State. However, this story is already "out there" and it needs to be addressed. One of our SC Senators is grossly incapable of compassion, running his own household, spaying and neutering his pets, and really should not be in charge of other people's lives. It's a shame. But do you really want men without compassion running your State and leading your Nation? So, it's about a dumb dog? NO. It's about the "heart condition" and "neglect of responsibility" of one of our so called Leaders. Lead Men "by example," if not, go sell shoes or "DO" something else!

Parents Come Together to Teach Virtues to Children of Many Faiths
urbanlife
by urbanlife  3-24-2008
Classes stress the development of moral values as taught in all world religions, such as patience, honesty, and compassion. Parents work with the children to teach them to respect the different cultures and religions of the world. The moral basis of the program is to encourage children to look at their own behavior and how they contribute to a better world. "Parents of my generation feel incredible pressure to make our kids read earlier, to know math sooner and better, to get into the top preschools and then the best schools," "But what many of us forget is the other side of the character of our children, not just the academic side, but the spiritual side and their character side."

Why do displays of compassion differ between East and West?
gingembre
by gingembre  6-12-2008    11
I am trying to understand A bit more: "In many Asian countries, favors invariably create obligations, which is perhaps why people are sometimes disinclined to interfere in the problems of others. You are obliged to take care of your family, your friends, or even your fellow countrymen. But the idea of universal charity is too abstract, and smacks of the kind of unwelcome interference that Western imperialists — and the Christian missionaries who followed them — practiced in the East for too long. The notion of "Asian values," promoted mostly by Singaporean official scribes, was partly a critique of universalist Western claims. Asians, according to this theory, have their own values, which include thrift, deference to authority, the sacrifice of individual to collective interests, and the belief that countries should not stick their noses into others' affairs. Hence, the hesitant response of Southeast Asian governments — and public opinion — to the Burmese disaster." see source

Wow, you've got to love these people.. Lieberman who's Jewish people were gassed and killed by the thousands saying this like its nothing.. You would think some compassion would be felt on waterboarding.. Not like it would EVER happen to his children what do you think would happen IF this were to ever happen to USA service men/women .. then its 'Oh, we must punish those that did this'!! Funny, its wierd how Isreal once persecuted now persecutes by restricting water, food etc to cross the borders of Palistine.. How many children etc. are they killing with the effects of that! I wonder what God is thinking on all of this mess!

Discrimination is an act of depriving individuals of their fundamental human rights and treating them unjustly in any aspect of their lives, be it political, economic or cultural. In Japan, Buraku discrimination happens against people who were born or live in the Hisabetsu Buraku (discriminated districts). The roots of Buraku discrimination come from feudal Japan, when the Buraku were areas separated from the other social classes. The people there lived under tight restrictions in every part of their lives, such as clothing, jobs, and home, due to the feudal class system formed by a variety of political and social factors. These historical areas are the origins of today’s Buraku, people who are still the target of discrimination due to the influence of subsequent social systems. This discrimination is what Japanese call, “Buraku issues.” (via boing-boing)

He added that the promotion was inspired by recent comments from one of the Democratic nominees for the presidential election, saying: "We did it because of Barack Obama. "He said all those people in the Midwest, you've got to have compassion for them because they're clinging to their guns and their Bibles. I found that quite offensive. We all go to church on Sunday and we all carry guns."

A Few Things Moore Forgot in Sicko
Rustee
by Rustee  5-10-2008    13
Michael Moore forgot to mention what the United States does have that other countries do not: A Declaration of Independence. A Constitution. A Bill of Rights. The concepts of individual rights, personal choice, free markets, private investment that develops most of the world's new medications, and the benefit of a private relationship between physicians and their patients without third-party interference. In his hymn to every other nation's superiority to America—in proportion to their commitment to collectivism—Michael Moore forgot to mention any American values at all.

Color Psychology
Aribeth
by Aribeth  3-2-2008    2
Color psychology is concerned with the effects of color on mood, emotion, behavior.Colors are not only used for decorations or adding beauty to an object, but they can be used to determine personality traits to affect people’s mood and to effect on other people around you. Each colour is connected to various areas of our body and will affect us differently emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or using colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment. In this treatment: * Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation. * Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body. * Orange was used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels. * Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain. I'll take red :-)
