POPSMoscow calls for anti-U.S. alliance While Russia has insisted it was not intending to supplant NATO, Mr Medvedev made it clear that the US-dominated alliance was partly responsible for the war in the Caucasus by its failure to rein in Georgian "aggression". This is the result of the U.S. throwing its weight around the world for far too long. It is human nature that if one person is constantly directing policy onto everyone else then that person is going to be knocked down for being perceived as a bully. The time has come for the U.S. to relax its role as self appointed world police and let other nations handle their own affairs or we will be “uninvited to the party”. Hopefully, future U.S. presidents will bury this old school ‘might is right’ mentality that Bush/Cheney revitalized when they took office.

Searching for information on it, will bring you many theories. Most agree though, that the human species, in one form or another have been around for a couple million years... Yet we have so little information on their evolutionary process to modern day man. Reading this very interesting article will make you acknowledge how vulnerable life is. So many species have come and gone and we have barely scratched the surface of realizing their existence. Perhaps we will never learn completely how life formed upon our planet and how we got to where we are today, but there's one fact for sure; Science will endure and will never give up its quest to bring us answers. National Geographic is a good way to keep up with new scientific discovery.

Relations between U.S. and Venezuela have been deteriorating for years and as a result Russia is extending its reach around the world. If we had maintained better relations with Russia, this would not cause Americans much concern. But the reality is that we now have two oil rich nations trading nuclear technology and weapons that are not motivated to work with the U.S.

POPS"Yankee Hegemony Is Finished," Says Chavez Chavez has called the U.S. Navy's newly re-established Fourth Fleet a threat. On Wednesday, he said he's sure "nuclear submarines pass under our noses" off Venezuela's coast. He said Venezuela is aiming to strengthen its "defensive capability with our strategic allies, and Russia is one of them." Later, Chavez called the U.S. the "empire" as he addressed troops at the christening of a newly built coast guard patrol ship. "Every day, relations between Venezuela and Russia will continue to deepen." He dismissed comparisons to the Cold War, but mentioned Cuba while saying he had been reviewing flight theory in a simulator in hopes of flying one of the Russian planes. Addressing his close friend Fidel Castro, Chavez said: "I'm going to fly a Tu-160. Fidel, I'm going to fly low past you there."

Perhaps if they hadn't been so skilled at denying free speech, support for the war in Iraq would have declined sooner rather than later. By the way, you are allowed to react to these images with your emotions. That's what makes you fully human. Don't let anyone tell you that you should view them solely from the cold aspect of reason. Such people are only censors of a different sort. They would censor your feelings.

POPSMoral lessons of the Rosenberg case Richard Silverstein, of Tikun Olam, on the Rosenberg case, where the US government killed Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for giving the USSR the "secret" to the atomic bomb. Which leaves us with the actions of the federal government. They truly deserve the worst opprobrium. Prosectors now admit they KNEW AT THE TIME that Ethel was innocent. At worst, she knew that Julius was spying but never aided or abetted it in any way. Yet they went at Rosenberg hammer and tong to get the confession they wanted. They drew her into the net and promised him she would die with him. This is unconscionable and an utterly depraved abuse of the judicial system. Today, such lawyers would be prosecuted themselves and disbarred. Unfortunately, the government has shielded its prosecutors’ deliberations from the light of day until today and no one knew the extent of the misconduct.

I believe we are now closer to a real and large-scale nuclear war, more so than every other time in human history. The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 is considered the previous time we came so close to starting a large-scale nuclear war. Today, repeatedly, the White House says, like in the clip here: "Washington Downplayed it's significance." News Flash - neither in 1962 or now will Russia allow a U.S. missile base be put on it's border. News Flash - Russia will not let the West steal it's Caspian Sea Oil. News Flash - Russia is right.
