We're Gonna' Need Lots Of Popcorn For This Circus
merrie
by merrie  1-6-2009    2
Even granting Reid the sole motivation of "electability," one does notice common factors among Jackson, Davis, Jones, and Burris, the appointments to which Harry Reid was so opposed. Something that distinguishes them from Duckworth and Madigan, the two people Reid favored. One data point leads to speculation, but four data points begin to form a trend, and six provides some distinctive criteria. No black men wanted. Just white women. Reid thinks they're more "electable," despite recent events involving a certain Senator from Illinois, one who by some coincidence managed to get elected to that seat, and then upgraded considerably via election. (I'd also note that Reid's current insistence that no Blago-made appointment would be acceptable bears overtones of Bills of Attainder , something else he might want to consult the Constitution about.) http://www.techlawjournal.com/glossary/legal/attainder.htm

Connell Plane Crash: Subpoenaed IT Expert "Wellstoned"?
blueridge
by blueridge  12-22-2008    1
More interesting news links at source that raise suspicions, as did the plane crash of former Congressman Paul Wellstone. That the news highlighted talk and suspicion of "sabotage" makes it much more substantive than a "conspiracy theory". Of course those who believe in "coincidence theories" have the Law of Probabilities and reasonable grounds of suspicion standing against them. Witness: 'It blew up and shook the ground a little bit.'

Indian and Pakistan Citizens Ask Their Leaders to Acknowledge People Want Peace.
brightlight4
by brightlight4  12-2-2008
We urge upon the governments of India and Pakistan to immediately take the following steps: 1. Cessation of all hostile propaganda against each other; 2. Joint action to curb religious extremism of all shades in both countries; 3. Continue and intensify normalization of relations and peaceful resolution of all conflicts between the two countries; 4. Facilitation of trade and cooperation between the two countries and in all of South Asia . We welcome the fact that the Srinagar-Muzaffarab ad and Poonch-Rawlakot borders have been opened for trade and that the opening of the road between Kargil and Skardu is in the pipeline. 5. Immediate abolition of the current practice of issuing city-specific and police reporting visa and issue country-valid visa without restrictions at arrival point, simultaneously initiating necessary steps to introduce as early as possible a visa-free travel regime, to encourage friendship between the peoples of both countries; 6. The Silence of the Bilderbergs
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-24-2008    1
For a long time, people who spoke of the Bilderbergs or the New World Order, were considered "conspiracy theorists". Here in DK, the whole can of worms has gone very public. Our mainstream media, bloggers, politicians etc are all finally starting to wonder, what the heck is going on. Our PM is facing some tough questions, questions he refuses to answer. Follow each of the links clipped from, to get a general idea of what's going on. Today, in my opinion, the ones we should be laughing at, are the "coincidence theorists". ------ Explanations: The "Folketing" is our Parliament. Jyllands Posten is one of the country's largest print newpapers. * The missing "minutes" is a wrong translation. The word referat means report, or summary.

Where Have All the Sunspots Gone?
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-22-2008    3
If the world does face another mini Ice Age, it could come without warning. Evidence for abrupt climate change is readily found in ice cores taken from Greenland and Antarctica. Could something like this happen again? There’s no way to tell, and because the changes can happen all within one decade—we might not even see it coming. Sorokhtin believes that a lack of sunspots does indicate a coming cooling period based on certain past trends and early records. In fact, he calls manmade climate change "a drop in the bucket" compared to the fierce and abrupt cold that can potentially be brought on by inactive solar phases. Sorokhtin’s advice: "Stock up on fur coats"…just in case.

US judge orders release of Guantanamo five
spirithiker
by spirithiker  11-21-2008
With George Bush’s ‘lame duck’ status it appears as though at least one judge is growing a pair. However, this ruling represents only 5 of the 200 petitions, but at least it is a step in the right direction. I can’t help thinking however, that it is not a coincidence that this judge ‘found’ his voice after learning Obama’s stand on the future of Guantanamo. If he is such a “tough, no-nonsense judge” why hasn’t he spoken up earlier? It is a travesty that the U.S. court system has dragged its feet on the issue of holding these men for so long without a trial.

SOmething rotten in the state of Minnesota
sillysam
by sillysam  11-11-2008    10
To put this change in perspective, that single precinct’s corrections accounted for a significantly larger net swing in votes between the parties than occurred for all the precincts in the entire state for the presidential, congressional, or state house races. Indeed, the 504 total new votes for Franken from all the precincts is greater than adding together all the changes for all the precincts in the entire state for the presidential, congressional, and state house races combined (a sum of 482). To many, it just seems like too much of a coincidence that Minnesota's one tight race just happens to be the race with the most "corrected" votes by far. But the real travesty will be to start letting election officials divine voter's intent. If you want to discourage people from voting, election fraud is one sure way of doing it.

The iPhone is Apple's solution to the Enterprise
dmtherob
by dmtherob  8-22-2008
Even though most every one agrees when it comes to Apple and Enterprise, the iPhone is helping Apple reach into Enterprise. Apple had only had 1% in Oct. 2006 and jumped to 4.5 just 9 months later. It is no coincidence that the iPhone was announced in Jan. 2007 and started shipping that summer. This is significant because Enterprise adoption of Mac's had been at a stand still.

Many thanks to Zomblog contributors experiencedtraveler and Sharmuta, who did the actual legwork of tracking down and obtaining this rare document. (Coincidence? The image on the left shows the Weather Underground Organization logo in 1975, and the Obama for President campaign logo in 2008.)  7:19 PM. I do think it's worth considering whether there's inherently anything about a 30-second spot that makes it the norm in political advertising. Obviously, you're not going to be able to buy a 30-hour block every day. But folks like Al Franken, for instance, have taken really good advantage of 60-second slots this year, and I'd think that the presidential candidates could too. 7:21 PM. This really is basically the Democratic convention compressed into 30 minutes. I think people forget that Denver was really quite a strong convention, even if it got overshadowed in the media narrative a bit by St. Paul. 7:29 PM. That was very good, although I actually think they could have done without the live bit at the end. 7:31 PM. Let's play ball!

La Times holding back video of Barack
sillysam
by sillysam  10-27-2008
So why is the Times sitting on the videotape of the Khalidi festivities? Given Obama's (preposterous) claims that he didn’t know Ayers that well and was unfamiliar with Ayers’s views, why didn't the Times report that Ayers and Dohrn were at the bash? Was it not worth mentioning the remarkable coincidence that both Obama and Ayers — the “education reform” allies who barely know each other … except to the extent they together doled out tens of millions of dollars to Leftist agitators, attacked the criminal justice system, and raved about each others books — just happen to be intimate friends of the same anti-American Israel-basher? (Despite having watched the videotape, Wallsten told Gateway Pundit he “did not know” whether Ayers was there.)

REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH

The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Joe the Plumber: The Internet Buzz
zizzy
by zizzy  10-16-2008    11
I'm sure the National Enquirer is already hot on Wurzelbacher's trail, so expect to hear more on Joe the Plumber soon. In the meantime, I'd like to get Joe's number - my bathroom faucet is leaking. Before the debate Joe was interviewed John Gibson (right-wing talk radio). Lo and behold McCain brings this guy up during the debate. Coincidence or right-wing propaganda? And why is it that middle-class America is always represented in politics by a white guy? And why does Barack Obama have to pander to the "Joe Plumbers of America?" Because the Republicans use race to divide opinion. That's been in their play book ever since Nixon. I know plenty of hard-working middle-class black and latino guys. Change can't come soon enough for me.

Candy light bulbs bring holiday cheer to dollar store shoppers
Nerfzilla

Nearly every person in the store looked like they just came from the Jerry Springer audience. There were a lot of old sweatshirts with cliche sayings or Looney Tunes characters on them, bottle blondes who needed to touch up their roots, men who looked like Todd from Beavis and Butt-head loading up on Christmas gifts for their families, and many people who looked like they only came in there to hang out because they had nowhere else to go. As we passed one suspicious looking man, my friend remarked, “Everyone in here looks like they’ve done time.” As if by some scripted coincidence, seconds later, a woman in the next isle remarked loudly, “Well, I’m finally allowed to see my kids again, so...” before trailing off. We went up and down each isle, looking for the one item that would perfectly encapsulate the experience, the Holy Grail of garbage, until we saw..... candy light bulbs! Statistical Ghost "Proves" Global Warming = A Political Hoax
merrie

Ok, two days ago I published a report on the data called The All Important Blade of the Stick Uses Less Than 5% of the Data. This report detailed what I consider powerful evidence that Mann and his group may have intentionally manipulated data in creating this paper. I don’t say this lightly. It is very clear that the proxies, which no one is sure represent temperature, were in fact extended using questionable statistics and then correlated to demonstrate that they match measured temperature. The addition of an up slope to 90% of the data was pasted on according to less than 5% of the data. I am very suspicious that this 5% was chosen specifically because of its up slope in recent times. Think about that only 55 series determined the outcome of the majority of the 1209 series data!! http://noconsensus.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/the-all-important-blade-of-the-stick-uses-less-than-5-of-the-data/ IceCap.us/ http://icecap.us/

Did Obama Steal His 'Lip Stick on a Pig' Speech from a Political Cartoon?
merrie
by merrie  9-14-2008
You can see for yourself that the entire segment before his "pig" quip matches the Toles cartoon exactly. The folks at FreeRepublic have found an interesting... uh, shall we say coincidence... concerning Barack Obama's widely panned September 9 comments made at a rally in Virginia where he seemed to be saying that Governor Palin was a "pig" by referencing the "lipstick" quote from her acceptance speech at the GOP convention. So, now we have a few points to ponder. Will the Obama campaign admit that this whole bit was lifted from Tom Toles? And are we to understand that the Obama campaign is now being programmed by cartoons? See ya in the funny papers, Barack. Be sure and Visit my Home blog Publius' Forum. It's what's happening NOW!

Pelosi: Oil Bill Will Have Ethics Clause: Becomes A Parody Of Herself
merrie
by merrie  9-13-2008    1
Mrs. Pelosi released preliminary details of a massive energy bill that includes a limited expansion of offshore drilling - timing the speaker said was simply a coincidence. The measure is expected to be introduced early next week. "That had nothing to do with when we released our bill," she said. "That's just because we're back now" after Congress' five-week summer break. "The oil and gas industry already benefits from taxpayer-funded subsidies, so the question is: how much has the scandal cost us in lost revenue?" The scandal is a setback for the Bush administration and Capitol Hill Republicans, who for months have been pushing to increase domestic oil drilling in response to skyrocketing gasoline prices at the pump. Republicans denied the scandal would deflate their party's push to increase drilling, saying that the alleged abuses, though serious, are isolated cases and shouldn't derail the nation's quest for more domestically produced oil.
