But before you turn to another Clipmark note: THIS WAS THE SECOND ONE THIS YEAR. The one in March 2009 was close too. Look at the stats on that one 8 months ago: Asteroid's Near Miss A Cosmic Close Call Heavenly Body Buzzes Earth; Comes Within 48,800 Miles The asteroid named 2009 DD45 was about 48,800 miles from Earth. That is just twice the height of some telecommunications satellites and about a fifth of the distance to the Moon. CNN video report on that one here. The Bush and present GOP "conservatives" are pushing big government Statism as much as Democrats, with only a different slant. Wars for democracy are a key element of both parties now. There is an insidious philosophy underlying this acceptance of the "natural" growth of statism. Neoconservative columnist David Brooks wrote ... we need "a vigorous One Nation Conservatism ... by making the nation great, individuals are able to join their narrow concerns to a larger national project." Actually, it was originally the Democrats that used to believe in curtailing the powers of the Federal government. (This was after the Civil War where they were called Dixie-crats). POPSA Reason to "Support Our Troops" -- Bring 'em Back Home From Afghanistan!
The troops' loss of heart to fight is intellectually sound. Depression is caused, in part, by cognitive dissonance, when two things do not square correctly, i.e. we are here to defend the U.S.? Really? The war is an elite war and part of a global agenda, not based upon any credible threat to the U.S. from Afghanistan. Nor is invading and occupying a country a very credible way to prevent terrorism, even if you believe the official propaganda to be true. Now the greatest threat to the continued bipartisan-believed (neocon initiated) propaganda (which Obama continues) is this reality of the troops morale ....you know, the one's whose very lives are at stake in a foreign country, and family lives are divided (unlike those in armchairs who promote the war and send them and claim to "support them"). See "Cost of War in Afghanistan" clipmark below. Also, National Guard from each state were never intended to be deployed like full time military in foreign wars.

As a side, people should note that because Governor's have authority over each states "National Guard" that they could invoke their authority to NOT DEPLOY these troops (never intended for foreign wars) to unjust wars, or war undeclared by Congress (the only lawful wars) for foreign operations, i.e. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. They have full legal power to resist if only they have political courage to stand upon principle against mistaken notions of zeal or "patriotism" invoked to push such wars. Poi are so much fun but I suggest that you start off with the soft foam training ones and work up from there. although the only thing that holds you back with Poi is confidence to try. The Fire Poi are usually on chains or wire ended with a steel rod or ball similar to a flail, which is wrapped in Kevlar, dipped in liquid paraffin left to soak and lit. I think I will stick to training Poi for now though. lol
