POPSThe Reality of Ayers There is a quote from a movie and book whose title escapes me "The past is like a foreign country. People do things differently there." To people who grew up in the 60s and 70s although people who did what Ayers did were wrong and on the fringes, we understand the anger. Think of people's anger today at terrorism and remember that many were that angry at the US government. Think of parents who wouldn't let there children watch the news because of the death and destruction that came every day. Think of riots at political conventions and in the streets of cities across America. Think of the fear of nuclear attack from a volatile and powerful Russia. What Ayers did was wrong and should, by all rights have been punished. It was not, however, today.

AS if this "Associate Professor" (I am bowled over) does not have to namedrop a school from the city where I first went to school, CHICAGO, he drops "the University that today has added yet another Nobel Prize winner in the sciences for the US" anyway. Three million dollars? If the benefit to the "children" is so great, let the parents of Chicago, the parents of Illinois or, BEST YET, the people who attend such science events, AS I OFTEN DID AT THE AMAZING CHICAGO MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY pay for it. My parents took me to that museum, with the submarine and the NYC apartment sized washing machine. I think we paid, like, an ADMISSION AT THE DOOR. Last year I could not come CLOSE to paying for the Health care I was prescribed. I could not come close to affording my medication. Frankly, I could not care less about a parent actually having to pay a dollar a child to get into the museum where people suffering FAR WORSE than I am could use that money simply to LIVE AND BREATHE. POPSSherriff Stops Evictions in Home Foreclosures
Although this may almost sound like "non-news," to some, it is incredibly dramatic, not so dramatic as parts of the French Army joining the rebels in the French Revolution nor so dramatid as the Russian Army joining the revolutionaries against the Czar during WWI --- but it is an "officer of the law," saying he's not going to obey the law to evict people from their homes -- during this economic crisis where now home foreclosures have tripled from just two years ago. The rather dramatic headline, though, is misleading (even though I like dramatic headlines like this myself.) In fact, while the sheriff's actions are not so dramatic (in a way)...but his real actions are far more clever: He is Slowing Down Evictions. This way, #1, he won't get fired. #2 his extra demands for documentation and total paperwork requirements could give folks at least a half-a-year before police would actually show up at their door. POPSThe Years He Won’t Discuss May Explain The Ayers Tie He Denies transparent whitewashing of the Obama/Ayers tie, the paper claimed that the pair first met earlier in 1995, “at a lunchtime meeting about school reform in a Chicago skyscraper ” That storyline is preposterous too, but it is also a marked revision of the paper’s prior account (which, naturally, reporter Scott Shane fails to mention). Why the change? The tacit concession was forced by Stanley Kurtz and Steve Diamond — whom the Times chooses not to acknowledge but who hover over Shane’s sunny narrative like a dark cloud. Despite all manner of stonewalling by Obama, Ayers and their allies, these commentators have doggedly pursued information about the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. That’s the $150+ million “education reform” piggy bank substantially controlled in the nineties by Ayers and Obama, who doled out tens of millions of dollars to Leftist radicals — radicals who, like their patrons, understood that control over our institutions, and especially our schools, . . . .
