POPSClause 11 ..WAKE UP PEOPLE! On December 16, it was reported by the Financial Times that China has imposed additional restrictions on the internet. People registering a domain name in China will have to present a company seal and a business license, the China Internet Network Information Center, a government-backed body, said in a statement on Monday. “Officials said the measure was part of a campaign to rein in pornographic content, but bloggers and internet activists interpreted it as a broader attempt to enforce internet censorship more heavily,” writes Kathrin Hille.

POPSGoogle vs Bing or Google vs Google I think google has now more problems with the own ideology. "don't be evil "Don't be evil" is the informal corporate motto (or slogan) of Google. When Google declared their self-censorship move into China, their "Don't be evil" motto was somewhat replaced with an "evil scale" balancing system, allowing smaller evils for a greater good. Hi and I think some of the evils got already childs like for sample Google check out ;-).

POPSBlogs on the blink 1984 and all that. With the BBC still reeling from its first real taste of freedom when it begrudgingly let Nick griffiths appear on QT, the Labour control thugs want to silence the whole world. Simple response. I will move my site abroad and pay for the privilege.

POPSCensorship Alive And Well In Miami-Dade County, Florida I have a new blog entitled "Civil Rights & Wrongs," which I hope you will all visit. It still has a few bugs in how I envision it, but so far it seems to be off to a pretty good start. Here is the latest post, which discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's decision yesterday not to take up the "Vamos a Cuba" case, a case involving the removal of a children's book from the school library because the school board determined it painted an inaccurate picture of life in Cuba. My goal with this blog is to cover a wide array of civil rights issues, so if you are interested in any particular civil rights issues, court cases that may not be getting as much attention as they should, etc., please let me know.

POPSThe Ongoing Battle Over How the Web is Run There is a sinister side to ISPs having this kind of power. Proponents of net-neutrality"people who believe that everyone should be free to do whatever they please on the Internet without interference or limitation so long as they pay their monthly bill"forsee a future where ISPs will milk money out of their subscribers by instituting a tiered system of Intenet provision. People would only be able to access more bandwidth by paying more money. Even worse, they could “throttle,” or choke out the connection, of anyone found doing anything with their connection that they didn’t approve of, controlling the sites you were able to visit.

POPS How to Bypass “This video is not available in your country” Both workarounds above are brilliant and work like a charm. Also, if someone posts a youtube on CM, for example, and I get the dreaded *not available in your country" message, you can't even see what the youtube was supposed to be! So, to get around that, I just do a Google search for the youtube URL itself and the top search result will tell you the title and exactly what video they want to keep from you. Then I just paste that title into youtube's search box and voila! .:D I hope this will help others who also HATE that damned *not available* message. Enjoy. .:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pXWTG7XzH4

POPSUS Press Freedom Improves At the bottom of the list were Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea "where media are so suppressed they are nonexistent," said Reporters Without Borders. Iran dropped to No. 172 from No. 166, with Reporters Without Borders saying the disputed reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had fostered a paranoia about journalists and bloggers. "Automatic prior censorship, state surveillance of journalists, mistreatment, journalists forced to flee the country, illegal arrests and imprisonment -- such is the state of press freedom this year in Iran," the group said. The ranking was compiled from hundreds of questionnaires completed by journalists and media experts around the world and reflecting press freedom violations that took place between Sept. 1, 2008 and Aug. 31, 2009. The complete ranking can be seen at www.rsf.org/en-classement1003-2009.html Read more at source.

POPSPolitico and Scarborough Figure Out The Obama White House’s Fox News War Tactic
WARNING: THIS POST IS NOT APPROVED BY WHITE HOUSE CENSORS! “And then you had a couple days of breast-beating from The Washington Post and The New York Times about whether or not they were fast enough on the ACORN story,” the official said. To some media observers, it’s almost the definition of a “chilling effect” " a governmental attempt to steer reporters away from negative coverage " but the White House press corps has barely uttered a word of complaint. Fox denies its news coverage is slanted, and even White House aides say the network’s top correspondent there, Major Garrett, is a straight shooter. But in its non-news hours, Fox mixes in a steady diet of criticism of President Barack Obama by its prominent conservative commentators Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. It’s a formula that works for Fox, with the highest ratings in cable news. A day after White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Obama senior adviser David Axelrod said other journalists .

POPSThey Thought They Were Free 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

POPSGuess who's now banned from Capitol Christmas tree! Freedom of religion now means no religion, I guess. Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. Jeremiah 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
