POPSThe Root of Much of What Ails Our Health-Care System ~ “Third-Party-Payer Problem”
to create impenetrable bureaucratic barriers between you and their money. There’s a reason why claims forms are so complicated.... There is much to lament about that system, and real reform is needed. A meaningful body of reforms would do three things: 1) establish a real market for health-care services and health insurance, one that is fiercely competitive and driven by consumers who are not beholden to their employers, the government, or any concern other than their own needs; 2) take intelligent steps to reduce the expense of health care and health insurance, and the bureaucracy attached to them; 3) offer intelligently designed support for the poor, the sick, and other vulnerable participants in the market. Here are ten things that would go a long way toward getting that done: 1) Insurance Choice. 2) Real Competition: A National Market for Health Insurance. 3) Price Transparency. 4) High Ceilings for HSAs (and No Taxes). 5) Insurance on Your Insuran

POPSCan you hear me now???? I had a former employee call me earlier today inquiring about a job, and at the end of the conversation he gave me his phone number. I asked the former employee if this was a new cell phone number and he told me yes this was his “Obama phone.” I asked him what an “Obama phone” was and he went on to say that welfare recipients are now eligible to receive (1) a FREE new phone and (2) approx 70 minutes of FREE minutes every month. I was a little skeptical so I Googled it and low and behold he was telling the truth. TAX PAYER MONEY IS BEING REDISTRIBUTED TO WELFARE RECIPIENTS FOR FREE CELL PHONES. This program was started earlier this year. Enough is enough, the ship is sinking and it’s sinking fast. The very foundations that this country was built on are being shaken.. The age old concepts of God, family, and hard work have flown out the window and are being replaced with “Hope and Change” and “Change we can believe in.”

POPSCommercial Espionage Not only do I think it would be stupid not to believe the Chinese do it...when the stakes are high, everyone does it. Governments, companies, whatever. The Chinese are kind of right to suggest commerical and political victimization. This is an everyday reality with all contacts.

POPSThe pocket spy: will your smartphone rat you out? More: Sports Tracker also recorded what time I normally leave the house in the morning and when I return from work. "If I wanted more information, then I could just stalk you," says Neil Buck, a senior analyst at DiskLabs.… "Out of context, an individual piece of information such as an SMS is almost meaningless," says Jones. "But when you have a large volume of information - a person's diary for the year, his emails, the plans he's building - and you start to put them together, you can make some interesting discoveries."

POPSEngage Your Child "Communication begins as soon as a baby is born. The way you touch, hold, look at and talk to babies help them learn your language, and the different ways babies cry help you learn their language. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association urges parents to reinforce communication efforts by looking at the baby and imitating vocalizations, laughter and facial expressions."

POPSTexting instead of sleeping
This is so disturbing. Social media has such wonderful potential, but seeing it used like this is depressing. Call me crazy but i would strongly consider advocating legislation that caps the number of text messages, tweets, status updates, etc. that a minor is allowed to send. God knows how many of them text while driving, putting us all at great risk. Between twitter and text messaging, society's use of social tools to stay connected 24x7 all day, every day just makes no sense to me. Seeing tweets about what people are doing, who they're with, where they're going, what they're eating, what they're watching just makes no sense to me. Who cares! Is there no joy in doing something anymore unless we can instantly tweet about it, upload a photo of it or broadcast it to our 'friends' on facebook? I think there is so much to gain from social media...so much to learn. But right now i feel like people are drunk on the idea and using it extreme ways that will look foolish in hinds

POPSThe REAL "Inconvenient Truth": Cell Phones and Bee Colony Collapse
Honey bees are in effect saying, "Can you hear us now?" The consequences of inaction on this are real and enormous. But unlike oil, coal or "carbon emissions", not even Al Gore or Obama will advocate giving up or curbing cell phones or towers, even though the hard facts on this are much more threatening to agriculture, and by consequence human life, the economy of foods, and the entire eco-system than the mythical "global warming" doomsday scenerio. Cell phones are America's and the world's unnecessary CONVENIENCE that apparently are not even being debated by the Climate people, willing to sacrifice the pollination of food crops by honey bees for cell chat. The buzz is real, but governments are not moving to regulate, and are likely too afraid of consumers who do not care about consequences any more than those who throw fast food trash out the window of their cars. There is also hard evidence of radiation from cell phones directly damaging human health.

POPSArmy Raid Finds Cash Addressed to Police and Press In June, nearly 80 police officers suspected of working with drug smugglers were arrested in 18 towns. Since then, Monterrey police have been banned from sitting in parked cars or using cell phones while on duty because of concerns they may be acting as lookouts for gangs. Police in Mexico’s third-largest city have also been prohibited from setting up sobriety checkpoints because they allegedly used them to extort motorists. Earlier this year, the Cancun police chief was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the assassination of an army brigadier general hired to root out corruption in the city. President Felipe Calderon has acknowledged that corruption permeates Mexican police at all levels. He has relied on the army to fight ruthless drug cartels, deploying tens of thousands of soldiers across the country since taking office in late 2006. Gang violence has since surged, claiming more than 13,500 lives.

POPS Najibullah Zazi Indicted in Terror Plot
NYPD raids in Queens last week turned up nine backpacks and cell phones, raising fears of a potential attack in the city's sprawling subway system. Authorities withheld the targets of the plot. But sources had told the Daily News that Zazi did computer searches involving baseball stadiums - and carried maps of other New York venues on his computer. Whatever the target, "Zazi took substantial steps toward carrying out the plan," according to a government memorandum demanding his immediate incarceration. The feds painted the bearded Zazi, 24, as a mad bomber whipping up batches of lethal explosives over a stove inside an Aurora, Colo., hotel suite. While inside the suite on Sept. 6-7, Zazi tried several times to reach an unidentified individual "seeking \ correct mixture of ingredients to make explosives," a government memorandum said. "Each communication \ more urgent in tone than the last." Traces of bomb-making material were discovered in a vent .

POPSNajibullah Zazi Admitted Receiving 'Weapons and Explosives' Training From al-Qaeda
The FBI and NYPD grew alarmed that Zazi and his possible co-conspirators might be planning an imminent attack when they found backpacks and cell phones in an apartment. They also learned that Afzali and other Zazi associates tried to rent a 26-foot U-Haul truck the day before Zazi arrived in Queens. "The FBI is investigating several individuals in the United States, Pakistan and elsewhere, relating to a plot to detonate improvised explosive devices in the United States," the Justice Department revealed Sunday. Najibullah Zazi, whose high-profile 28 hours of voluntary questioning last week by prosecutors in Denver broke off suddenly on Saturday, told probers he was trained by Al Qaeda in August 2008 at a camp in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the government charged. A laptop found in Zazi's rental car, which the NYPD seized last weekend, contained images of handwritten bomb-making notes, the FBI said. Zazi e-mailed the notes to himself using an account . .
