Bob Dylan: "i was born very far from where i'm supposed to be"
syncopath
by syncopath  12-28-2009    1
As I walked out tonight in the mystic garden The wounded flowers were dangling from the vine I was passing by yon cool crystal fountain Someone hit me from behind Ain't talkin', just walkin' Through this weary world of woe Heart burnin', still yearnin' No one on earth would ever know They say prayer has the power to heal So pray for me, mother In the human heart an evil spirit can dwell I am a-tryin' to love my neighbor and do good unto others But oh, mother, things ain't going well Ain't talkin', just walkin' I'll burn that bridge before you can cross Heart burnin', still yearnin' There'll be no mercy for you once you've lost Now I'm all worn down by weeping My eyes are filled with tears, my lips are dry If I catch my opponents ever sleeping I'll just slaughter 'em where they lie Ain't talkin', just walkin' Through the world mysterious and vague Heart burnin', still yearnin' Walkin' through the cities of the plague. Well, the whole world is filled

Holiday Protesters Leave Scrooge McCaskill Lumps of Coal For Her Obamacare Vote (Video)

Protesters Gather for a Second Time Outside Claire McCaskill’s Office 2009 December 23 by DanaLoesch Protesters leave coal for McCaskill. A hundred or so protesters gathered outside of Sen. Claire McCaskill’s University City office during their lunch hours for the second time in two weeks to protest McCaskill’s continual lack of representation. The overwhelming majority of Missouri (and national) voters oppose Harry Reid’s senate fauxcare bill, yet McCaskill is eager to play the part of the rubber stamp and help pass it in the senate " and even complains about having to do so on Christmas.  ♫A crowded room, friends with tired eyes I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice I thought you were someone to rely on Me, I guess I was a shoulder to cry on A friend to discover with a fire in her heart A man under cover but you tore me apart Now I've found a real love, you'll never fool me again Last Christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year, to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special Last Christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year, to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special Last Christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year, to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special I’ll give it to someone special♫ Is Glee not the best show on TV or what? Al Gore Goes From "Save The Whales" To "Join The Whales"
foxyarse
by foxyarse  12-13-2009    2
"I've finished on one mountain and starting on the second one. We've also got trees planted in Brazil and small gardens planted all over Central America, but I admit that I'm a little behind", he joked as only Al Gore can. "Butt I should be able to catch up by doubling up on the tree planting." Gore said he has made contacts all over the world in his new venture and even helped a family in Afghanistan. "They were growing poppies to sell for opium because they needed the income to feed their families. I suggested that they grow food instead of poppies to begin with and it was like a light bulb...the new fluorescent ones of course, went off in the farmer's head." Gore said the organizing of the new "Join The Whales" will begin this weekend at his home in east Tennessee. "We've got a big room here at the house that five of us can easily fit into." Gore went on to say that himself and Tipper take special pills to cut down on the flatulence, "Our effort to cut down on Global

Naked Copenhagen

If the issue is rising emissions in the next several decades, the bottom line is simple: The developed world is rapidly becoming irrelevant. Every 10% cut in the U.S. is negated by one year of China's growth. By 2040 China could be the most economically dominant nation on earth. The West might be able to cajole it, but won't be able to impose sanctions on China. Temperature will be at the mercy of the newly powerful economies. Moreover, an expensive effort to reduce Western emissions sets a worthless example. Only emissions cuts that provide measurable economic benefit to the developing nations will be adopted by them. If the 80% U.S. emissions cut winds up hurting the U.S. economy, it guarantees China will never follow our example. Cheap green energy is not going to be easy. Coal is dirt cheap, and China has been installing a new gigawatt coal plant each week"enough to supply five completely new cities the size of New York every year.

Barbara Ehrenreich: The uproar over the new breast cancer screening guidelines
Lexica
by Lexica  12-3-2009    1
More: So welcome to the Women’s Movement 2.0: Instead of the proud female symbol -- a circle on top of a cross -- we have a droopy ribbon. Instead of embracing the full spectrum of human colors -- black, brown, red, yellow, and white -- we stick to princess pink. While we used to march in protest against sexist laws and practices, now we race or walk “for the cure.” And while we once sought full “consciousness” of all that oppresses us, now we’re content to achieve “awareness,” which has come to mean one thing – dutifully baring our breasts for the annual mammogram. …the numbers are increasingly insistent: Routine mammographic screening of women under 50 does not reduce breast cancer mortality in that group, nor do older women necessarily need an annual mammogram. In fact, the whole dogma about “early detection” is shaky… the idea has been to catch cancers early, when they’re still small, but some tiny cancers are viciously aggressive, and some large ones aren’t going anywhere

Fed rule halts red snapper fishing
jatfla

Oh well. How many jobs is this going to cut? I know....they'll hire the fishermen to be Federal officers patrolling the seas to catch those fish-violators. And can you imagine the price of one that makes it to the restaurant or supermarket? Will this help the fishing economy on the Left Coast? Wish the Feds would do something about the Chinese sucking oil from under our waters via Cuba.

Speaker of the Danish Parliament Suggests Politicians Gullibility Turn Theories Into Facts
merrie
by merrie  12-4-2009
Shipping not counted Together with three colleagues Jensen took a closer look at Denmark's greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 to 2007. They found that, if you play by the Kyoto rules, Denmark's yearly emissions have indeed remained stable at 70 million tons carbon dioxide equivalent. But under the Kyoto rules emissions from shipping and air traffic are not counted. And Denmark has a huge shipping industry: it is the largest container transporter in the world. If you count shipping, add an extra 47 million tons to Denmark's yearly emissions. Danish Parliament has issued a damning criticism of the climate debate http://bit.ly/6BVoVf Denmark: not as green as you thought http://bit.ly/5iDRuY

Iran vs Israel: What The Media Wants You To Forget
katsteevns
by katsteevns  11-16-2009    2
 6. Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran's announcement. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran's notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel's claims to "know" that Iran is a nuclear threat.
