POPS2nd Annual International Islamic Cartoon Contest! 1. Skold feels that most citizens in Western nations are probably not aware that most Islamic nations have never signed onto the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, which states (in Article 19) that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression..." 2. “Besides those who send in sarcastic cartoons, I urge Muslims to send in their own positive cartoons related to Islam so that non-Muslims can learn to appreciate their humor,” said Skold, referring to a long history of humor in Islam.

POPSPostcard from a Tipping Planet During the current review, we are doing to our Clipmarks Clipbase under the headings of Energy and Climate, I found this item clipped in June 2008. It was very freaky then. It is even more so now after Nohopeinhagan. All we can do is love nature and each other in the time there is left ... which is what we should have been doing all along! Surely, it is better to be aware of the risks, than to ignore them. The 2008 IPCC projections which this cartoon is based were much more optimistic than current estimates because the rate of acceleration of both emissions and climate heating was underestimated (and probably still is).

POPSA tribute to Original Kasper's - history, in hot dogs
More (emphasis mine): Hosted by the Site Memory Collective…from John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, “Kasper’s Stories” is a part of the group’s commitment to “exploring the changing urban landscape as seen through individual and community memories of public spaces.” In the case of Kasper’s, it’s a study of one place’s impact on its residents–both when it’s there and after it disappears. “You don’t analyze how important something like this is until it’s gone,” said Kim Campisano, one of the organizers. “And you don’t realize how important it is to have that everyday connection with the same place and people in what is a vastly changing world.” …Yaglijian, smiling and mingling for two hours, said he wanted to reopen the place . “It’s time,” he said, confident that he can get the money. “I’ve kept saying that without giving the exact year for the last few years. But this time it’ll be ready again by the end of this year or early next .” YES PLEASE

POPSCool racoons These guys are so adorable and cute, they will definitely make your day! Just look how good they feel in their own skin and how funny they are. It’s like you’re watching a cartoon. If you’re feeling bad or depressed, these little fellas will surely make you feel better and bring a big smile on your face. I’m not sure if I’m OK with what that parent on the third photo is doing, but it seems that everybody can have children and be a parent. :D

POPSNY Post Sued AGAIN, Racism Charges " hey refused a request by Governor David Paterson, the first Black Governor of the State of New York, to be interviewed about the cartoon," Fenner's complaint alleges. "Specifically, after Governor Paterson made it know that he wanted to be interviewed about the nature of that cartoon and had also agreed to be interviewed about any other subject, the White editors at the Post summarily refused to interview him....Such a rejection of a sitting Governor is unprecedented and practically unheard of in journalism." more @ clip source

POPSNews Corp's New York Post Being Sued for Racism, Sexism, Harassment More News Corp. sordidness @ clip source ... Guzman alleges that while at the paper, misogynistic and racist behavior was directed at her specifically. According to the complaint, she was called "sexy" and "beautiful" and referred to as "Cha Cha #1" by Les Goodstein, the senior vice president of NewsCorp. After doing an interview with Major League Baseball star Pedro Martinez, she says Allan asked her whether the pitcher "had been carrying a gun or a machete during the interview" -- a line Guzman said was racist and offensive.

POPSChange? Yes We Can! The Cuban Prison may take a little longer than expected but the CIA found something even more effective than waterboarding could ever have been thought to be. Hmmm? Maybe this is too much too
