a spongebob christmas to my clipper friends
swampfoxz
by swampfoxz  12-23-2009    5
Once we used to fight over smaller problems Collecting money and drinking together Once we used to share our sadness drinking tea near old hotels Helping each other with assignments Feeling bored with never changing climates Those golden times will never again come, beloved friends But I will still remember you just being there Looking towards one another and cracking jokes to one another Happy holidays to my beloved friends For now, forever in eternity Either you belong here or you live in other lands Friendship goes far beyond any lands or boundaries Our love will remain forever floating Like the wind in the lonely desert Just want to drop few lines and say Happy, happy holidays to my beloved friends Either near or far, either on the Internet or in some foreign lands Either near me or never with me I know you all belong very close to me Happy holidays to my all beloved friends

Cassini: Unlocking Saturn's Secrets
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-18-2009
Do explore the site, there are some wonderful videos. Also, they are talking about Cassini catching a "glint" caused by liquid on Titan. The liquid is NOT water. It's hydrocarbons. Imagine a moon with enough liquid fuel to form lakes on the surface! Examples of common hydrocarbons below: *..Methane and benzene *..Cylinders of Butane and Propane (LPG fuel). *..Gasoline at the gas station. *..Diesel fuel. *..Paraffin oil (for Heating, Oil lamps and Oil picnic stoves) *..Gas Oil (for Furnace fuel). *..IPA; Isopropyl alcohol (Rubbing Oil) from a Pharmacist (Chemists in the UK). *..Cigarette lighter fuel (Butane, or a type of gasoline). *..Candles (Heavy Hydrocarbon Paraffin wax). (Coal and wood also contain Hydrocarbon Compounds)

A Modest Proposal by Ken Blackwell
merrie
by merrie  12-16-2009    1
I have a modest proposal. There is one thing we could do that would make a small contribution to lowering temperatures: We could bury, not burn, the bodies of unborn children who have been aborted under Mr. Obama’s health care takeover. Currently, the practice is to incinerate the hundreds of thousands of bodies cruelly of those denied the right to life. If we really seek “common ground” on this contentious question, we might start by giving the unborn children a decent burial. Liberal writer Naomi Wolf has written movingly of the “baby furies” that she felt were pursuing her after her abortion. She noted that in Japan, there are touching ceremonies of little paper boats with candles floated down slow-moving rivers. These ceremonies are designed to help women cope with this most terrible of choices. Part of the terrible contentiousness of this question is the unwillingness of most liberals even to concede that the unborn child is a child. In 1983, the U.S. Supreme Court .....

AtlLiberal

From the comments: "Quick question. Does "any form of mysticism are represented" mean Christianity too? Because one definition of mysticism, from wiki, is "(from the Greek μυστικός, mystikos, an initiate of a mystery religion) is the pursuit of communion with, identity with, or conscious awareness of an ultimate reality, divinity, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, instinct or insight." If it doesn't include Christianity, does that mean that symbolically eating the flesh and drinking the blood of your God, lighting candles, praying to dead people, chanting, performing hour or two hour long ceremonies lead by a man or woman dressed in funny robes, forming small groups to discuss sacred texts, believing that the dead will rise, marking your forehead with ash and speaking in tongues is ok, else you are wiccan?"

merrie
by merrie  11-15-2009    1
35 photos-boston.com...Late Wednesday night, Mumbai, India found itself the target of a ferocious terrorist attack, and the situation remains unresolved even now, three days later. According to reports, upwards of 60 young men entered Mumbai in small inflatable boats on Wednesday night, carrying bags filled with weapons and ammunition, and spread out to nine locations to begin their attacks. Lobbing grenades and firing their weapons, they entered hotels, a railway station and several other buildings, killing scores and wounding even more. As of this moment, the identity of the attackers has yet to be definitively determined, though there are reports indicating some of the gunmen were Pakistani - at least nine of them have been killed, nine more arrested. As of this writing, there were a reported 151 people killed from 11 different countries - though nearly 100 were Indian. More than 300 injuries have also been reported - those numbers may yet rise as several hostage situations

11 Ways To Use A Pumpkin
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  10-18-2009
More in the article . If you've never made a fresh pumpkin pie, you are missing out. And, by the way, most canned pumpkin is made of squashes, rather than actual pumpkin. Pumpkin from scratch is a bit of a pain, one has to puree it or it's a bit stringy, but it keeps well in the freezer, so it is worthwhile. I think so, anyway.

Which Candles Emit Carcinogens?
katsteevns
by katsteevns  10-16-2009    1
“An occasional paraffin candle and its emissions will not likely affect you,” Hamidi said in a news release from the American Chemical Society. “But lighting many paraffin candles every day for years or lighting them frequently in an unventilated bathroom around a tub, for example, may cause problems.” Hamidi also said that some people who believe they have an indoor allergy or respiratory irritation may actually be reacting to pollutants from burning candles. They noted that ventilation can help reduce the level of pollutants in closed rooms–but I say, better yet: switch to a healthier alternative!

If Islam is a religion of peace, then sticks of dynamite are only candles
infidel70
by infidel70  10-4-2009    3
On July 30, eight people were burned alive in the village of Gojra, also in Punjab, after a purported incident of desecration of the Koran in the nearby village of Korian Wala. Churches were attacked and copies of the Bible and hymn books were burned in both villages. In Korian Wala alone, more than 50 houses of Christians were ransacked. On Sept. 11, a church in a village in Punjab's Sialkot district was burned after claims that a 20-year-old Christian youth had desecrated the Koran. On Sept. 15, a day after his arrest, Robert Masih was found dead in his jail cell. Police reported it as a suicide, but Mr. Masih's family claims he was killed. Joseph Francis, who runs an organization providing legal assistance to Christians, said he saw marks of torture on Mr. Masih's body.
