Human Cell Electric Fields Are As Powerful as Lightning Bolts
chestnut501
by chestnut501  6-2-2009    1
This discovery is a surprising twist for cell researchers. Scientists don't know what causes these incredibly strong fields or why they' are there. But now using new nanotools, such as voltage-sensitive dyes, they can start to measure them at least. Researchers believe they may be able to learn more about disease states, such as cancer, by studying these minute, but powerful electric fields.

New twist to matter-antimatter mystery
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  5-12-2008    1
Here is an "almost breakthrough" A major mystery of modern physics is why normal matter particles are the building blocks of the observable universe. Why are we not made of antimatter? Or pure energy? Scientists speculate that a tiny imbalance in the early universe allowed a small fraction of normal matter – one particle for every one billion – to avoid annihilation and survive to form stars, planets, and humans. When we come to know that we don't know, there is a new place for hope...

Brain Waves Pattern Themselves After Rhythms Of Nature
Mohir
by Mohir  2-20-2008    3
Although the bulk of his work involves deriving equations, Cowan's findings mesh well with laboratory data generated on the cerebral cortex and electroencephalograms. His latest findings show that the same mathematical tools physicists use to describe the behavior of subatomic particles and the dynamics of liquids and solids can now be applied to understanding how the brain generates its various rhythms.

What Have We Taught Them?
laceym
by laceym  6-7-2007    6
First, the leaders in the Democratic Party have given these issues as little attention as the Republicans. Democrats in control of the House and Senate have taken no action to challenge and dismantle these abuses. I suspect that the front-runners in the Democratic Party, and those who fund them (particularly those who fund them), are looking forward to what they can accomplish with warrantless searches and seizures, arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, and signing statements. Second, the Republican Party itself has had a long tradition of supporting Constitutional principles, particularly the value of a limited government and maximum freedom. I do not know where those Republicans have been hiding for the past six years, but it is time for them to come out and assert themselves.

Is the 'WRISTWATCH' over???
dfiskey
by dfiskey  10-16-2006    11
I really hope not. although i think it might be true. I bought my husband a beautiful watch for our first anniversary years ago-- i think he gave it about a 6 month wear before he realized he preffered his phone to be his watch. i think watches are really 'smart' - i think they look nice on people..i'd hate to see the Blackberry/Cellphone movement knock out this market too...
