POPSrecipe: Clean-out-the-fridge frittata More: This particular frittata got wrapped up and taken to Seward Park for a dinner picnic, which is almost as good an idea as Clean Out the Fridge Frittata. Imagine a dinner party where you invite all the interesting people you don’t see nearly enough, but with the added benefit of not having to clean your house. It’s genius, I tell you. Throw in some blankets, some grapes, salad, bread, cheese, a bottle of wine, and cookies or cupcakes (or in our case, both!) and you have the makings of a very fine evening indeed. IMG_1674 As an extra bonus, when at last it gets dark and you have to pull yourself away from the park and your friends, you’ll have a much cleaner fridge to come home to. I'm my world, that's never a bad thing.

POPS"$6 Solar Cooker To Save The World" continues: Named after the United Nations’ Kyoto Protocol, the cooker is made from two cardboard boxes, one inside the other, with either paper or straw insulation placed in between; an acrylic cover on top lets in and traps sunlight. Black paint on the inner box, and silver foil on the outer one, help concentrate the heat. The trapped rays make the inside hot enough to cook casseroles, bake bread and boil water . Covering the cooking pot with a transparent cover retains heat and water , and temperatures inside the pot can reach about 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

POPSWendy's Secret Banana Cake – best banana cake ever Recipe via the Wayback Machine because it got deleted from eGullet during the management kerfuffle and subsequent exodus (which is why I'm disregarding Wendy's "let's keep this our little secret here at eg" request). The original recipe specified "way over ripe verging on completely gross bananas", just so you know. ;-)

POPSRoasted garlic recipe I can never remember what temperature to roast it at. This is good for so many things. You can just spread it like butter on bread. Yum!

POPSExtreme Eats There's a scene in the 1970 film Fatso when an overweight character poses the following question to his friends: "Did you ever suck the jelly out of a jelly doughnut and then fill it with chocolate swirl ice cream?" Most people react to that query in one of two ways: They either say to themselves, "That's disgusting!" or "That's disgusting ... I want one!"
