POPSPersonality Types in Cyberspace With a strong predilection towards disagreeing with people, their messages in email and discussion board groups often begin and are peppered throughout with words like "but" and "however." A more subtle oppositional message may start off with "well" or the namesake "yes but." Psychodynamic theory proposes that these people struggle with underlying feelings of hostility that can only be expressed passively or indirectly, via the act of disagreeing. They also may need to oppose others as a way to firm up their somewhat fragile identity or to boost self-esteem by proving themselves right and others mistaken. People with oppositional tendencies may be drawn to the intellectually contentious atmosphere of online discussion groups. That atmosphere, combined with the difficulties in establishing one's presence in a somewhat chaotic environment that lacks the identity-grounding cues of face-to-face contact, may also amplify oppositional tendencies.

POPSFight On! Leaves Him No Choice But To Win in Afghanistan Well, for starters because it’s considered Dem accompli … not least by the GOP. There’s an element of cold harsh reality in that. This is an electorate that remained largely asleep and disinterested when lawmakers, taking their cue from the 70-30 vote against a ballot measure to phase out the income tax, raised taxes. I would have thought the GOP would be more interested in kicking off the 2010 election season with a good showing, if not a win, in bluest Mass. Those are sheep guts that all the soothsayers would want a look at.

Overall, I believe this is a quality site featuring high-quality articles and is well worth visiting.

POPSMaking pâte à choux More: The next trick is to focus the oven heat so that most of it comes from the bottom during the early part of the cooking process. Preheat your oven to a medium heat, such as 300 degrees Fahrenheit. When you add the tray of puffs, kick it up to the target temperature (probably 450 or so). With the heating element at the bottom of most ovens, this will light a fire (so to speak) under the puffs and give them a big steam boost, while at the same time keeping the tops relatively moist and flexible so they can expand. As the oven heats, the tops will firm and turn golden brown, at which point you should lower the heat to a more moderate 300 or so to finish cooking the insides without burning the outsides. The insides need to be sufficiently set or else your puffs might collapse when you take them out of the oven, and that’s not a fun date for anyone. Once your puffs have cooled, you can serve them and collect accolades on the spot, or freeze them for later.

POPS0bamaCare (The Mother of Public Options) Draws Nearer The latest Senate compromise formed a new “Medicare buy-in” to allow people aged 55-64 to buy the healthcare coverage currently available only to senior citizens. It came at the expense of the public option. Some liberals would fight to the finish to retain the public option, a watered-down version of which was passed in the House bill. But most Democrats are falling in line with the thinking of Rahm Emanuel, Mr Obama’s pugilistic chief-of-staff, who said: “The only non-negotiable principle here is success.” Washington insiders bel ieve a historic healthcare act would give Mr Obama and the Democratic party a boost ahead of next year’s mid-term elections. But polls, which show mixed support for healthcare reform, suggest the reality may not be so simple.

POPSWhy antidepressants don't work for so many people More: The biochemical events that ultimately result in depression actually start in the development and functioning of neurons. "The medications have been focusing on the effect, not the cause," she said. "That's why it takes so long for them to work and why they aren't effective for so many people." Her animal model of depression did not show dramatic differences in the levels of genes controlling neurotransmitters functions. "If depression was related to neurotransmitter activity, we would have seen that," she said. Her findings in depressed rats, she said, are very likely applicable to humans. "The similarities between these regions of the human and rodent brain are remarkable," Redei explained. "The hippocampus and amygdala are part of the so-called ancient lizard brain that controls survival and are the same in even primitive organisms."
