To put it into perspective, ACORN received about $53 million of federal funding over the past 15 years. Meanwhile, Blackwater, the private military contractor to which the U.S. government has farmed out security duties, may owe the government as much as $55 million for allegedly failing to fulfill the terms of one of its federal contracts. Yet Blackwater (now known as Xe), a company that has five of its employees facing murder charges in a massacre of Iraqi civilians in 2007, got a $217 million contract from the Obama administration to provide security in Iraq. The former Haliburton subsidiary, KBR, got $80 million in contract bonuses to provide electrical wiring in Iraq -- wiring that has fatally electrocuted 16 soldiers and two contractors. They haven’t been defunded by Congress. According to the nonpartisan Project on Government Oversight, the biggest three defense contractors -- Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Northrop Grumman -- have been cited 109 times for misconduct since 199

Our elected representatives listen to businessmen and generals rather than to scientists, doctors, humanitarians, teachers, mothers. And we've been conditioned to believe that this is the way it must be. But it doesn't have to be this way.

POPSHall of Saints I pride myself on being an equal opportunity hypocrisy basher. Whether it comes from the left or the right, if it looks like BS, smells like BS, acts like BS, it is BS. Being human I sometimes make mistakes and have been guilty of passing on inaccuracies as truth. Rightly so, I have been called out on them. I appreciate those who take the time to let me know when I am wrong. However, I appreciate it even more when they are not overly combative about it. I continue to welcome their insight into things I don’t know. But not knowing something is not a crime and not possessing a desire to learn is very detrimental to survival, and not willing to learn is grossly stupid. So, I will continue to stumble through life seeking truth but I refuse to participate in the fraud that these three individual do on a daily basis.

And they will use their political clout to do so." Are businesses now going to join us regular people in the efforts to take back our Country? I know that once-upon-a-time unions were a God-send to the working, blue-collar class. However, like most all good things, over time they are distorted, become arrogant & greedy and end up hurting those for whom they were first created.

Textron brought in $775,773,505 in contracts through their AAI division. Other firms considered small businesses by the Obama Administration included, British Aerospace (BAE), Rolls-Royce, General Electric, Xerox, Office Depot, Staples, Dell Computer, AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, 3M Corporation, General Dynamics, Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, L-3 Communications, GTSI, Raytheon, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. During the campaign, President Obama promised to restore the Small Business Administration's (SBA) budget, restore the SBA Administrator to a cabinet-level position and implement the 5 percent woman-owned small business contracting goal. The funding for new planes is "a classic example of Congress being out of touch with the realities of deficit spending," said Mr. Thune. The Obama administration had sought $220 million to buy four passenger jets, including two that are currently being leased by the Air Force, to replace a fleet of older planes. Before leaving town for the August break, House lawmakers doubled the aircraft order to eight, at a total cost of $550 million. A spokesman for Mr. Bond confirmed that he "opposed the funds for the jets." Mrs. McCaskill said she was lobbying members of the Senate Appropriations Committee to oppose funding for the planes. She said she has spoken to several senators on the panel who oppose the funding, including Mr. Bond.

The Boeing 767-200 hit turbulence about 50 miles north of the Dominican Republic at about 38,000 feet, according to an official with the Federal Aviation Administration. It landed in Miami an hour later with its seat belt signs illuminated, the airline said.
