POPSRe: Kelika's Clip-Stealth boat Ady Gil Intriguing clip by Kelika led me to do a little research. More from the article below: "Now the newly-renamed vessel has been unveiled as the Sea Shepherd's new weapon in the organisation's sixth campaign against whaling, Operation Waltzing Mathilda, which will launch from Australia early next month. The craft, which is capable of up to 50 knots, will be used to intercept and physically block harpoon ships from illegally slaughtering whales. The Ady Gil and the Steve Irwin are the two remaining ships in the Sea Shepherd Society’s fleet. A third vessel – the Farley Mowat – was sent to protest against Canadian seal hunting last year and was seized by offiicials."

POPSAction Alert: Malaysian Oil Palm Threatens Brazilian Amazon
Dear Mr. Dato Ahmad Tarmizi Alias, I am writing to vigorously oppose the Malaysian government's intent, through its Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) government agency, to profit from the clearfelling of the Brazilian Amazon's ancient biodiversity rich rainforests to establish toxic oil palm plantation monocultures. We are protesting FELDA's plans to develop with local partner Braspalma an oil-palm plantation project located in Manaus and Tefe, Brazil -- the heart of the Amazon. Malaysian tax-payer dollars are to be used to turn huge portions of the Amazon from a biodiverse, carbon rich paradise into a big lifeless, toxic monoculture and environmental disaster. Please ensure this project's approval is immediately withdrawn. Your government's long-time and continuing actions in support of industrial oil palm and logging in primary rainforests worldwide are having devastating consequences for communities, local soil and water, biodiversity and ecosystems,

POPSDear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate taste. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can have those. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. And since you hate guns and you hate war, we'll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. But you are going to be responsible for finding a biodiesel vehicle big enough to haul them around. We'll keep the capitalism, the greedy corporations, the pharmaceutical companies; we will keep Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have the homeless, the homeboys, the hippies and illegal aliens. We will keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, the greedy CEOS and all of the rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and we'll let you have NBC and Hollywood.

POPSYou've Got To Be Kidding Me ... Let me get this straight... the man turns human medical waste (without the patients' permission) into biodiesel to burn in two ginormous, hugantic SUVs, and we're supposed to think that he is environmentally conscious? --- a reader's comment

POPSYou Unemployed Blue-Collar Workers Can Freeze In The Dark, Too Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. This ought to be a big hit with coal miners. Or, for that matter, anybody else since we currently produce half of our electricity with coal. But hey, candlelight is so romantic. What are we talking about? The ObaMarx’s energy “plan”, that’s what. The plan under which he intends to put the coal business out of business . . . But why don’t we let him speak for himself?: What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted. http://www.nicedoggie.net/2008/?p=2850
