POPSWoman In Red Miniskirt Knocks Down Pope Benedict XVI Saltarello has a history of mostly assaulting soccer players while they are showering in the dressing room. Saltarello was recently released from jail after serving seven months for fondling one of the players on Italy's National Soccer Team. The player requested that his name not be used. We will only say that his name rhymes with Xalberto Xpignola number X16. A woman who was standing just about three feet from where the Pope fell to the basilica floor said she clearly heard the Pope yell in broken Latin, "Ipso veni vidi vici ad hoc facto boof" which roughly translated means, "Hey what the hell is wrong with that dumb stupid bitch." Another parishioner who gave her name as Sophia Drezzalini-Collingsworth said that she saw three of the Pope's security guards fire at least 29 shots into the unidentified woman. The Pope was helped to his feet, while the woman was dragged by her ankles to a waiting garbage truck.

POPSSlain Anti-Abortion Activist Remembered
Drake is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Pouillon and 61-year-old gravel company owner Mike Fuoss. Drake’s family says he suffers from depression and was having trouble with his medicine. Some of those who attended Wednesday’s service here about 70 miles northwest of Detroit wore shirts emblazoned with anti-abortion messages. …. Matthew Trewhella, 49, and his wife Clara drove six hours from Milwaukee with nine of their 11 children. He last saw Pouillon in August at an abortion protest at the Woodward Dream Cruise, a popular event near Detroit that celebrates car culture. “If every town had a Jim Pouillon in it, like Owosso did, abortion would be illegal,” Trewhella said. “Most people play bingo at his age, but here he was using an oxygen tank and speaking for the unborn.” …. For more than 20 years, Pouillon protested outside schools, City Hall, the library and even the athletic field where he was remembered. The Vietnam veteran’s activism . . .

POPSPalestinians Out, Jews In
After receiving eviction notices last May, three Palestinian families constituting 53 people, including 20 children, were forcibly removed from their homes under High Court order at dawn on August 2. This is just one of several plans by various real estate groups such as Nahalat Shimon International and American businessmen such as Irving Moskowitz, to populate the areas surrounding the Old City with Jewish strongholds that sever Palestinian territorial contiguity in East Jerusalem. This prejudices any final resolution in which East Jerusalem would be the Palestinian capital. It is also in clear breach of Israel’s commitment under the Road Map. But these operations are backed by the Israel Lands Administration, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Israeli government, who are all working together to undermine any possibility for a two-state solution and are blatantly infringing on the basic human rights of the residents of what they deem to be the “united Jerusalem.”

POPSLegal Drinking & Driving I just had a frustrating conversation with a Costa Mesa Police Officer who would NOT tell me it was illegal to drink and drive... because it is NOT! This was shocking information to me, mostly because I would love to be able to tell my 33 year old daughter that it is NOT legal for her to drink a beer and hop in the car with my grandson! No dice, I can't tell her that, she has already informed me it is legal... and she is right.

POPSKelly the Dolphin vs. Capitalism And so one day, when someone dropped a piece of paper into the pool, rather than playing along with the game, Kelly picked up the litter and swam to the bottom of the pool, wedging it in place under a rock. The next time a trainer passed, she popped on down to the rock, tore off a tiny strip of paper and took it to the keeper. Bingo--she got a fish. Holy shit! It worked! She had found a way to multiply her fishy return many times over. When the paper ran out, Kelly decided it was time to expand her business. In order to yield more impressive profits, she needed something more impressive than a piece of paper.

POPSMario Beats Candyland No one with any sense could argue that kids should play video games all day, every day. But parents and critics of the medium need to accept that games can be both exciting and intellectually challenging. Your kid will benefit from working out a video game puzzle or constructing an elaborate strategies to beat level bosses. That's not the case with Chutes and Ladders.

POPSWhy We Need Hope A good friend said these words to me: " Zinn says the stories of the darkest times are the best stories, because there are always heroes in the midst of it resisting the darkness, and if we don't tell the dark stories, we never learn of the heroes. It's the thing about being like Jesus - to his contemporaries, even to his followers, he always looked like a disappointing failure. But they have faded from history. So we look like losers, too. And we aren't." :)
