The Soviet Union’s single party system was a failure due to it’s inability to withstand a dissident attack. The United States two-party system is simply the post-beta form of the Soviet-style political spectrum, with the guise of liberty upon it’s aging fangs. Holding Hands The word paradigm (paradigma), compounded from it’s Greek root word δείχνυμι “to show”, accurately describes the dimension between the left and right party. This paradigm requires a vice grip of social ideology held together for stability. A single party’s influence can break, without a backboard to cater towards any dissidence. Two parties can stand up against one another to create both geometrically and intellectually a more powerful structure that can withstand intense dissidence from each party for one reason: the rebellion of the first party’s ideals are reciprocated by the second.

HP's Facial Tracking Software Fails to See Black People
egoldstein
by egoldstein  12-21-2009    1
The thing I find most striking about this is that it suggests that HP never had a black person beta test their software before going live with it. Seems incredibly hard to believe, but if they had, wouldn't they have caught this bug already!?

Good news... I no longer have to pay for anti kidnapping implants. Bad news... Not only do they know where I live, they no know when I'm home. Worst news... a recent 60 minutes segment featured an automated way of establishing my "intent". George Orwell (like H.G.Wells) really under-estimated what comes next.

Google Chrome Syncs Bookmarks Almost Instantly
merrie
by merrie  11-5-2009
While the new bookmark sync feature is welcome, it’s only part of the puzzle. Cookies, passwords, and more is what users will expect. Browser and search history are likely desirable bits of data too, but Google offers the option to provide the search history, regardless of browser. chrome-bookmark-syncI’d expect most of these additional sync points to be worked out in time for the Chrome OS " the platform is meant to power companion computers, and what better devices would benefit from an immersive browser sync experience?

Quantum Physics.. What it is?
WomanInTheMoon11
by WomanInTheMoon11  9-10-2009    1
Quantum physics is a branch of science that deals with discrete, indivisible units of energy called quanta as described by the Quantum Theories. Quantum physics invloves the study of the realm of the very small, at the atomic and subatomic level, such as electrons, photons and quarks. Therefore, it’s operating at the below-cell level of the body. Quantum Physics is also the study of the forces that act on atomic and subatomic entities. There are 4 forces: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong force (binds particles in the atom’s nucleus) and the weak force (responsible for radioactive/beta decay). Quantum Physics also studies the fields through which forces move. Example of fields are the gravitational field and electromagnetic field. A field can extend throughout a large region of space so that its influence is all-pervading.

He encouraged independent God developers to support the closed-source iGod / iGov health care platform , warning that "woe be unto the unlicensed app developer, for he shall be smote by a vengeful hail of ACORNs." Other iGod apps currently in beta test include an end-of-life calculator, income leveler, and a wireless database detector for anti-government heretics and apostates. "I believe this exciting health care partnership opportunity with the Almighty will be every bit as successful as our previous peace partnerships in the Middle East, and will pave the way for an eventual merger," said Obama. No date has been set for Government-God merger plans, but the FTC has signalled it would give quick approval. To finance the project, Obama said US Government would seek US$2 trillion in a 103rd round of involuntary venture capital. Headquartered in Washington DC, U.S. Government (NASDAQ: USAGOV) employs over 4,000,000 full time workers . . .

From a Distant Comet, a Clue to Life
ratilfar
by ratilfar  8-19-2009    6
Within a few months, the Goddard scientists found glycine embedded in aluminum foil of the collecting apparatus. They had spent the time since then confirming that the glycine indeed came from the comet and not from contamination. “It’s not necessarily particularly surprising,” Dr. Elsila said of her extraterrestrial glycine in a phone conversation Tuesday. “I would have been surprised if it wasn’t there.” Dr. Elsila and her colleagues were able to show that the glycine from the comet had heavier quantities of the isotope carbon 13 than what occurs on Earth. They also detected a second amino acid, beta-alanine, but the quantities were too minuscule to confirm. The findings were presented Sunday at a Washington meeting of the American Chemical Society and will be published in the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science.

The 20 Healthiest Foods for Under $1
odiedog
by odiedog  7-17-2009
Food prices are climbing, and some might be looking to fast foods and packaged foods for their cheap bites. But low cost doesn’t have to mean low quality. In fact, some of the most inexpensive things you can buy are the best things for you. At the grocery store, getting the most nutrition for the least amount of money means hanging out on the peripheries—near the fruits and veggies, the meat and dairy, and the bulk grains—while avoiding the expensive packaged interior. By doing so, not only will your kitchen be stocked with excellent foods, your wallet won’t be empty..
